95bFM: Anniversary Albums

After five years it is the final anniversary albums episode!! Geneva is off to become a Mum and so the Sam/Geneva partnership must come to an end after 200 albums or so. This week, we bow out with Public Enemy's "Apocalypse 91...The Enemy Strikes Back" from 1991.  Thanks for tuning in all these years and supporting the segment!! Glad you enjoyed it. 

This week, for the penultimate anniversary albums segment, Sam and Geneva took a look at Walking Wounded, the tenth studio album from UK duo Everything But The Girl. This week, Sam and Geneva take a look at "What Cha' Gonna Do for Me," the third studio album from the Queen of Funk Chaka Khan. This week, Sam and Geneva take a look at Crazy? Yes! Dumb? No! the second studio album from the Mint Chicks. This week, Sam and Geneva take a look at Whats' Be Happen? the debut album from Herbs. Released in 1981, this politically charged album became one of the most influential albums in New Zealand helping with the development of roots reggae.  Tracks played - Azania (Soon Come) - Dragons and Demons - One Brotherhood 

This week, Sam and Geneva take a look at Vicarious, the fourth studio album from bFM band Strawpeople. Released in 1996, Vicarious won the album of the year at the 1997 music awards and remains a gold standard in mid-90s production.  Tracks played - Taller Than God - Boxers - Static Symphony 

This week, Sam and Geneva kick off NZ Music Month by taking a look at 'Navigator," the second studio album from Che Fu. Released in 2001, this album helped bring hip hop to the masses and it remains an absolute classic twenty years later. Tracks played: - Fade Away - Top Floor - Misty Frequencies 

This week, Sam and Geneva take a look at "Please," the debut album from UK pop legends Pet Shop Boys. Released in 1986, this album spawned the massive hit West End Girls and set the ball rolling for one of pop's greatest careers.  Tracks played: - Two Divided By Zero - Love Comes Quickly - West End Girls 

This week, Sam and Geneva take a look at "I Want You," the fourteenth studio album from Marvin Gaye. Released in 1976, many critics have deemed this record as being an early example of neo-soul.  Tracks played - I Want You - Come Live With Me Angel - All the Way Around 

Sam and Geneva are back in the studio ad to celebrate they take a look at "Emperor Tomato Ketchup" the fourth studio album from Stereolab. Released in 1996, this album was a pioneering display of avant-garde experimental pop that was way ahead of its time.  Tracks played - Cybele's Reverie - Percolator - The Noise of Carpet
