97. Part 2 of Reaction to “Attack on Titan” S4E13: “Children of the Forest”
A grieving father considers the nightmarish world that betrayed his daughter’s hopeful send-off. But even in the darkness, Artur Braus [no, not a typo] reveals a striking ability to seize the light. And he definitely gets extra points for nonetheless scaring the daylights out of the Braun brat,...

96. Reaction to “Attack on Titan,” Season 4, Episode 13: “Children of the Forest”
Hopefully it’s not going to become a running theme for Eren’s and Zeke’s acolytes to so gravely endanger Eren’s actual friends. It’s one of many reasons we need more folks like Mr. Braus and fewer like Floch Forster. We also need Gabi to finally get a clue. Maybe this time, with so many startling...

95. Part 4 of Reaction to “Attack on Titan” S4E12: “Guides”
Whoo, final part! I’m properly caught up now with the coverage, my dear listeners. Which means I need to promptly begin the work for Episode 13, pfft. But for now: The things I didn’t fancy about MAPPA’s rendering of the jacket/jailbreak scene (plus I'll share some counterarguments regarding…

94. Part 3 of Reaction to “Attack on Titan” S4E12: “Guides”
Eren’s screen time in this episode was brief, but once again there was plenty of impact achieved in just those short moments with him. If I want to be humorous about it, “Hobo Eren” has completed his leg of the mission, and now “Chad Eren” has officially arrived. In this episode of the podcast,...

90. Part 2 of Reaction to “Attack on Titan” S4E11: “Deceiver”
Familiar questions make a comeback, commentary from a friend provides a new lens in considering Gabi's hardheartedness, and topics raised in the argument between Gabi and Kaya connect with an issue I've noticed amongst the fandom when it comes to Season 4. ========= This is one of those episodes...
-
89. Reaction to “Attack on Titan,” Season 4, Episode 11: “Deceiver”
I’ve been able to grant Gabi a fair bit of leeway thus far. But now she’s quite thoroughly trampling on whatever positives she did have to offer. And as Gabi spirals downward, Falco is left to pick up the slack. Reiner’s thought process is making more and more sense—when it comes to this, at…

88. Part 7 of Reaction to “Attack on Titan” S4E10: “A Sound Argument”
Desperation can be lost in translation. Was what we witnessed less a matter of simple lashing out in anger…and more an image of a desperate young man searching for hope and making a final plea for alternative suggestions before the fates of so many people are finally sealed? I’m about to quote…

87. Part 6 of Reaction to “Attack on Titan” S4E10: “A Sound Argument”
I do not for a moment believe that Eren had any seedy intent in his move of grabbing Commander Hange Zoë. Nor do I believe she truly interpreted it that way herself. With that in mind, I discuss my theories as to why Hange actually reacted the way she did. ========= This is one of those episodes...
-
86. Part 5 of Reaction to “Attack on Titan” S4E10: “A Sound Argument”
Why wasn’t Armin considered as a potential successor to Eren’s legacy? We take time to ponder that question, and we finally begin discussing those tension-filled exchanges between Eren and Hange. ========= This is one of those episodes where the comment section will be open on YouTube, so feel…

84. Part 3 of Reaction to “Attack on Titan” S4E10: “A Sound Argument”
Why did Eren put his team at the forefront of combat? Has he really changed as much as some folks think? And might those apparent changes actually be less surprising and unusual than they first appear? ========= This is one of those episodes where the comment section will be open on YouTube, so...

82. Reaction to “Attack on Titan,” Season 4, Episode 10: “A Sound Argument”
The good news? Paradis has some potential allies! The bad news? Said potential allies suck! Appropriate quote to describe my feelings towards both Hizuru and Zeke in this episode? “My disappointment is immeasurable, and my day is ruined.” No wonder Eren’s feeling so cynical. ========= This is one...

81. Part 10 of Reaction to “Attack on Titan” S4E9: “Brave Volunteers”
As we reach the final installment of the reaction, I wrap up my thoughts on MAPPA’s handling of the prison scenes thus far, address a final viewer complaint or two, and share a super-cool insight another user had regarding Onyankopon’s name. ========= This is one of those episodes where the…

80. Part 9 of Reaction to “Attack on Titan” S4E9: “Brave Volunteers”
In this next-to-last part of the reaction, I try to address the complaints folks have about the anime’s handling of that mirror scene. …And as it turns out, MAPPA may have given us a neat little touch of symbolism in those gorgeous bonus frames they provided earlier on. By the wayyy…does all this...
-
79. Part 8 of Reaction to “Attack on Titan” S4E9: “Brave Volunteers”
Eren’s Kruger-inspired scene in the opening of the episode was pure fudging HYPE. And looking a little deeper, I think it also hints at his development as a Titan Shifter, soldier, and young man stepping into adulthood after having trodden such a difficult path. We’ll also be exploring a couple…

We continue examining the pluses and minuses of Eren’s “aggressive negotiations” and his decision to go rogue, plus we ask the million-dollar question: What real alternatives were provided? In fact, I’d especially like to hear from my listeners on that: Do you have alternative solutions that...

72. Reaction to “Attack on Titan,” Season 4, Episode 9: “Brave Volunteers”

71. Part 6 of Reaction to “Attack on Titan” S4E8: “Assassin's Bullet”
I don’t know if she’s trying to do an impression of a travel writer, a 1970s musician, or a slapstick comedienne on a flight of stairs…but either way, Hange is straight tripping. P.S. I meant to mention this sooner, but I wanted to make sure I featured SuperSama's reaction to Episode 2 of the...

68. Part 3 of Reaction to “Attack on Titan” S4E8: “Assassin's Bullet”
In this episode of the podcast, I’ll be focusing on Sasha’s role in “Assassin’s Bullet,” and the choices made regarding her arc there—and to some degree in previous seasons, as well: the good, the bad, and the ugly. Unfortunately, I feel the latter two somewhat dominated in this 8th episode of…

67. Part 2 of Reaction to “Attack on Titan” S4E8: “Assassin's Bullet”
Between the anime and having seen parts of the manga, I definitely understand some of why folks despise Gabi—especially after this most recent episode. But I see the lil brat more as a tragic and surprisingly sympathetic figure rather than a monster. In this episode, I’ll go into why. But, boy,...

66. Reaction to “Attack on Titan,” Season 4, Episode 8: “Assassin's Bullet”
When it comes to “Attack on Titan” characters, Gabi Braun is definitely on the list of ones that tend to inspire strong feelings. And that’s no doubt become more true than ever with the revelations we got earlier this week, with the premiere of “Assassin’s Bullet.” [Appropriate numbering for the...

As we (hopefully!) wrap up coverage for Episode 7, I take a look at: Some details from the scene with Reiner and Falco A few musical moments that stood out to me And a couple of things that caught my eye in the Episode 8 preview P.S. I identified it before as a Thunder Spear, but in rewatching…

64. Part 3 of Reaction to “Attack on Titan” S4E7: “Assault”
Was Eren’s continued assault on Galliard a waste of time that needlessly cost him a valuable opportunity, or was it instead a prudent display of caution on his part, despite the risky delay? 63. Part 2 of Reaction to “Attack on Titan” S4E7: “Assault”
Despite our not having much dialogue from Eren this episode, it was once again made clear how he’s matured and developed over time, his calm analytical skills when under pressure and his ability to adapt to the flow of battle both shining through. And the dialogue we did get from him didn’t waste…
