Episode 2 - Cost of speaking up
In this episode, Dr. Venu Bhamidi explores the growing crisis of psychological safety for men. Why do so many men remain silent about their pain? What happens when vulnerability feels dangerous? And what are the consequences for fathers, families, relationships and society when men no longer believe it is safe to tell the truth about their experiences?Drawing on personal experience, psychological research, and broader cultural observations, this conversation examines male silence, emotional suppression, depression, addiction, suicide, fatherhood, family law, and the importance of creating spaces where men can speak honestly without fear of ridicule, dismissal, or retaliation. It is a conversation about recognising that men suffer too, and that a healthy society should be capable of holding both truths at the same time. Openness without psychological safety feels less like vulnerability and more like exposure. This episode examines:Why men often choose silence over honestyThe hidden cost of psychological unsafetyThe link between suppressed pain, depression, addiction, anger and suicideWhy separated fathers often feel unable to share their experiencesThe paradox of modern conversations around male vulnerabilityThe false binary that says supporting men means opposing womenHow we create safer spaces for men to speak, heal and reconnectThis is not a conversation about blame. It is a conversation about understanding If this episode resonates with you, please follow the show, leave a rating, and share it with someone who may need to hear it.🎙 A Good Length with Dr. Venu BhamidiInstagram: @agoodlengthpodcastSpotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/5XbFjzywgGH5mfl4o0pEMDApple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/a-good-length/id1896891417Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/agoodlength/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCo0gj8PM5yrJ3Dnleh_RGlQ#MenMatter #MensHealth #Fatherhood #MentalHealth #MaleAdvocacy #PsychologicalSafety #Divorce #FamilyLaw #MensMentalHealth #ParentalAlienation #Masculinity #SeparatedFathers #SuicidePrevention #fatherhood #mentoo #fatherson #dadsmatter #AGoodLength #DrVenuBhamidiAcademic Reference/Citations:Addis, M.
