When Billy Slater called I thought it could have been a scam
On the build up to the Men's State of Origin it was great to jump inside both camps. Maroons debutant Jojo Fifita wasn't expecting to made the squad - so much so that when Queensland coach Billy Slate called he thought it could have been a scam! Andrew Moore, Luke Lewis and Michael Carayannis were joined by Penrith's Scott Sorensen through the afternoon and they discussed the sad news of Jai Arrow's Motor Neurone diagnosis and how Sorensen's future club the Perth Bears are shaping up. I don't understand how they got that wrong
Controversy is never far away in the NRL and Friday night threw up a couple of interesting calls. Luke Lewis reckons Rooster Rob Toia's 2nd try against the Titans was 1000% not a try as he looked to have lost it over the line. Lewey chatted about that with Andrew Moore and Michael Carayannis and the bizarre end to the game in Townsville where the Eels won with a 3 point field goal. Plus you can hear some of what Criag Bellamy had to say as he addressed the media for the 1st time since news of his neurodegenerative disorder was made public. On the eve of the 2026 Magic Round there's talk that from 2027 the format of the weekend might have to get a tweak. With the Perth Bears joining the party there'll be an extra NRL match to fit in (and no team sitting out) so what does that mean for the Women's Origin match which has kicked the weekend off on the Thursday? Quentin Hull, Billy Moore and Zane Bojack reckon that match should stay. Q and Billy also discussed the introduction of health screenings for former players and were joined by the Raiders powerful centre Matt Timoko. The Green Machine man reckons the uptick in their form is down to one thing - keeping it simple.
