Absolute Evil by Julian Hawthorne. Absolute Evil is a gothic werewolf novella written by Julian Hawthorne, the son of renowned novelist Nathaniel Hawthorne. Serving as a thematic response to his father's Calvinist concepts of doom and destiny, the story follows an independent, revolver-wielding Boston socialite named Martha Klemm who travels to a supposedly haunted, isolated island to meditate on the concept of occult forces and cosmic morality. Instead, she finds herself trapped in an action-packed thriller involving strange footprints, eerie night howls, and a Presbyterian minister turned werewolf.
