    In todays episode, we discuss venous thromboembolism (blood clots) in pregnancy with Prof Fionnuala Ní Aínle. Prof  Ní Aínle explains the risk factors for developing blood clots during pregnancy, and how blood clots are diagnosed and managed during pregnancy.Prof. Fionnuala Ní ÁinleConsultant Haematologist at the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital (MMUH) and Rotunda Maternity Hospital, Dublin, Ireland. Prof Ní Áinle is a Full Clinical Professor at University College Dublin (UCD) School of Medicine. She is privileged to treat patients affected with Venous Thromboembolism (VTE) and her research focus is Thrombosis in Pregnancy. Director of the Irish Network for VTE Research and co-directs the SPHERE Research Group, UCD Conway Institute. Prof. Ní Áinle was elected to the Council of the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) in 2022 (Class of 2028) and Serves as Chair of the ISTH Guidelines & Guidance Committee and Vice-Chair of the Membership & Communications Committee. Prof Ní Ainle was recently appointed National Clinical Lead for VTE, Irish Health Services Executive.

    Welcome to Season 5 of Accreta & Me. In this episode we talk to Scottish mum Emma. Emma is a wonderful advocate for mums impacted by PAS and is keen to ensure Scottish mums have resources and support available to them. Emma and Naomi (from Placenta Accreta Ireland) have recently launched Placenta Accreta Scotland. This is part 1 of 2 episodes.     Season 4 - Caesarean Scar Pregnancy - in conversation with Prof Ilan Timor-Tristch and Prof Andrea Kaelin Agten

    In this episode we are delighted to talk with Prof Ilan Timor-Tristch and Prof Andrea Kaelan Agten about CSP. As a precursor to Placenta Accreta, CSP is a very rare and serious complication where the pregnancy implants and grows over or into a previous c-section scar in the lower front part of the womb.A CSP can develop into Placenta Accreta if the pregnancy progresses into the second and third trimester.     Season 3 - Anaesthesia care in Placenta Accreta Spectrum

    In this episode, two consultant anaesthesiologists Dr Robert ffrench-O'Carroll and Dr Doireann O’Flaherty joined Helena and Naomi to discuss anaesthesia care for women with placenta accreta spectrum. They also discussed two research papers, which they collaborated on with Placenta Accreta Ireland (IRL) and the National Accreta Foundation (USA) exploring the lived experience of anaesthesia care and postnatal pain management of women with placenta accreta spectrum.

    Season 3 - Womens Health Physiotherapy - During Pregnancy and Beyond

    In this episode, Naomi and Helena were joined by four guests – women’s health physiotherapists Leah and Margaret (of Leah Bryans Physiotherapy, Kildare, Ireland) and accreta mums Naomi Nevin and Beverly. This episode focuses on the benefits of physiotherapy during and after a pregnancy complicated by placenta accreta spectrum, with Naomi Nevin and Beverly sharing their personal experience of recovery, exercise, and scar management.

    In this episode, Helena and Naomi spoke with Breffini Anglim-O’Regan, a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist who has a special interest in pelvic floor health. Breffni shares her expertise on various topics such as changes to the pelvic floor during pregnancy, stress incontinence and prolapse, and exercise in pregnancy.  A worthwhile listen for all mums, those who have a pregnancy complicated by Placenta Accreta Spectrum and those without.
