Energy Addition and not Energy Transition
#energysecurity #energyaddition #energytransition #abundantenergy #fundnuclearinafrica Drawing inspiration from financial expert Andrew Lo, this episode delves into the need for energy addition rather than transition. Africa need abundant clean and dense energy and any thing short of this leaves us poor and needy. Nuclear, gas, oil, hydro, solar, wind and coal are all needed for abundance. Professor Wei-Jen Lee at the Generation Atomic booth 45with Pratik Lokhande and i had a long discussion. We touched on SMRs, safety, security and regulations for new builds. He brought a very interesting twist on the idea of ownership of the power infrastructure by the local community.Lokhande also talked about how the fusion reactor is still far fetched saying the plasma can only be sustained about 1 minute for now within the available magnet 🧲Micro grid for rural electrification was discussed while specifying that the ring configuration ensures greater grid reliabilityProfessor Wei-Jen understands and expresses the limitations of the available and emerging grid technology but emphasizes that an egalitarian society that takes responsibility for her infrastructures with the community building their economy around such facilitiesOn the recent visit and declaration of the US President, Prof also said, the most impact of the several billions of dollars to be given to Africa amongst others will be felt when there is appropriate localization of businesses otherwise, it will still be another aid that leaves Africa needing more.Listen, follow, download and subscribe on Apple Podcast, Google Podcast, Spotify, TuneIn and other podcast delivery platforms. If you want to feature as a guest, please sign up here: https://airtable.com/appnJpXSb5U2nKZvv/shr7UE5fhpAgfRaVcContact us: afrinukepodcastatgmail.com Key: [at = @]Follow us on Twitter: @afrinuke andThank you

What does nuclear mean to you? - Anniversary 🎈Trailer Episode✨
Reintroduction of the new podcast seriesI have a confession to make, over the past days of the first footprint of this podcast, i have been exposed to different concepts, thoughts and biases in the push to unveiling the new normal of nuclear strengths. This podcast is a year old and i am grateful for many things; 1. to those who have said yes to us; you made us grow and we did not want to let you down, hence the resurrections from the brief lul. 2. To those who said no and kept silent on our request; you made us look inwards and reevaluate and better ourselfI have been brought up to believe that building a lasting foundation takes time. I grew to know this is true in many situation except when there is need to boostrap. We’ll reintroduce this podcast with a new banging theme that seems to ask a question, this question seeks to provoke thoughts, beliefs, reveal scientific truths and hopefully shine some light on the paths of those who are lost in the dark of the meaning of nuclear technology. we wan to enlighten, educate, train and perhaps advice policy towards nuclear renaissance in Africa. The case for climate is becoming stronger, our socio-political construct is being disrupted and the need for new trade policies in the face of the emergent global situations. Recently, the vice president of the federal republic of Nigeria, professor Yemi osinbajo in his speech to the Atlantic council has stated the need for a just transition, highlighting the inclusion of nuclear in the European green taxonomy but remained neutral on the nuclear path of Nigeria, the south African nation has some fascinating cliché that promotes nuclear in a unique way, Kenya is strong at work with development partners. With abundant gas, evolving need for stronger grid capacity. it is obvious that the future of energy sufficiency and sustainability will be a though one without nuclear. Now let know what nuclear means to you? We will be talking with various individuals on what nuclear means to them and hopefully you will be inspired.Listen, follow, download and subscribe on Apple Podcast, Google Podcast, Spotify, TuneIn and other podcast platforms. If you want to feature as a guest, please sign up here: https://airtable.com/appnJpXSb5U2nKZvv/shr7UE5fhpAgfRaVcContact us: afrinukepodcastatgmail.com Key: [at = @]Follow us on Twitter: @afrinuke andThank youThank you

With Dr Chris Keefer //Host, Decouple Podcast
Episode Notes; The Decouple podcast is borne out of the concern for a clean and sustainable future towards expanding human flourishing with strong support for nuclear as a way to achieving this elegant future; obtaining its name from the Ecomodernist manifesto by Michael Shellenberger and his team.It is not Africa's responsibility to solve the climate crisis/problem.Nuclear inarguably has high energy density and is only just to use it for sustainable developmentRadiation fallout from Fukushima accident did not kill anybody but rather the panic reaction to the tsunami/evacuation that caused the deaths.Interesting twist to SMRs not being the only viable solution and the need for humility to build nuclear power plants.Listen, follow, download and subscribe on Apple Podcast, Google Podcast, Spotify, TuneIn and other podcast platforms.
