Carriers Quarters - Leith - Episode 44
We should note that this was recorded on the Thursday before Hearts played Rangers at Tynecastle.A "live" beer tasting down Leith. Cracking afternoon in Leith...we also went to Diggers Leith - excellent beer in both.Only 3 of us at this podcast recording (Graham practising with his band HONK) but we our supplemented by our Podcast Consultant, Colin Lambie. All good in Health this month - apart from the stress the football is causing us all - we are desperate for the season to end! We've been tasting beer across the globe...well the Yorkshire Dales and Germany. (Special mention to Hetton Pale beer in the Dales.)Plus a round up of what we have been watching recently. Enjoy!Follow us on Instagram

The Golden Rule - Episode 42
We return to an old favourite - a regular post match venue in the Scottish Cup winning year of 1998 - The Golden Rule in Yeaman Place, Edinburgh.Great beer - Jarl (Fine Ales) and Birds and Bees (Williams Brothers) in fine fettle - and service in this traditional Edinburgh tenement pub.We discuss our health (physical and mental) issues and have a deep analysis of Hearts chances of maintaining their lead of the SPFL and....(gulp) winning it with 9 games to go.Not much current movie chat but still plenty of TV to go around and we suggest a list of movies with a surprise twist as a bonus.Enjoy!Follow us on Instagram

The Stockbridge Tap - Episode 41
We return again after we did episode 3... 4 years (Yes, FOUR!) on.Time flies! We are joined by our podcasting consultant - Mr Colin Lambie, too.Lots of beer chat and great ale choices were available at this long established pub.Have you thought about your own happiness? We did and discuss it (in depth!) - it's a question you generally never ask your friends.Usual football (we are still top of the league!) chat and TV recommendations.Enjoy!Follow us on Instagram

Our Pub of the Year Christmas Special - The Volunteer Arms (Staggs) in Musselburgh - Ep 40
We return to one of our favourites - in fact a CAMRA National Pub award is in the offing for this great pub.It is Christmas, so we fully back a major NHS supported campaign to help mitigate the risk of Prostate issues in males - more (daily!) masturbation/wanking. This creates some detailed discussion, but it is a fact. Well done the NHS! We fully support this. This was discussed. Good ad, catchy tune. https://youtu.be/mg0MMqKBbyw?si=6YNZA0dKmnMbc2_nGarry is just over a bad case of jet-lag following his epic trip to Australia/Bali, but overall we are well - but are we getting enough sleep for our age?Hearts are top of the SPFL and we highlight what you should be watching.A fairly straightforward vote for our pub of the year for 2025.Enjoy the banter!Boots has until end of January for our series 3 theme tune.Follow us on Instagram

The Guildford Arms and the Abbotsford Bar - Episode 39
Sobriety has returned for the production of this podcast! We visit 2 of Edinburgh's most famous pubs, both in the City Centre and both owned by the DM Stewart Group. (a longstanding old pub group for the city)We cover our most pressing injuries and health complaints, the recent magnificent Scotland performance that sends (for the first time since 1998) us to the 2026 World Cup next summer! What a dramatic fin ish to that match. One of us has been to the movies to see the latest Predator film whilst the other two catch up on the best of UK TV.Just 3 for this recording as Garry is in Oz for a lengthy holiday and a couple of days at the Ashes. Incredible.Follow us on Instagram

To York!
We make a day of it in York. Some fantastic pubs and decent beer. The trains were on time & we were joined by our Old Firm Podcast consultant, Colin Lambie & Ian Brown, consultant to no-one, ever.We introduce our new section..."What's pissed you off this month?". Controversial. Targets were the Glasgow Media, Scotland National Team, Donald Trump (regular topic in A,A & A), USA fans at the Ryder CupShout out to York Tap, Lendal Cellars, The Three Tuns, The Blue Bell, Ye Olde Starre Inne, Brew York (recommend the food there😉) and York Tap, again.Special mention for Bloody Drinks, whose Bloody Mary cocktail got us going.Usual mix of old boys ailments and illnesses (nothing serious), football and media. Difficult to record a podcast whilst doing a pub crawl, so we recorded in just a few of the hostelries we visited. The beers had kicked in by the time we reviewed our monthly viewing habits, stick with it, very amusing - forgive us...it was a long day...but very enjoyable!Follow us on Instagram

Its Kay's Bar...Again! Episode 35
Probably the best kept selection (and choice) of Cask beer in Edinburgh, keeps us returning to Kays.We discuss the beer itself, Alberto Juantorena (It WAS Ron Pickering who did that infamous commentary after all) and a lengthy current Ailments section (This episode will offend the Creationists!).Optimism. A word rarely used around Tynecastle over the last few years, but for our season preview (from a Hearts perspective) it's appropriate.Graham sees success for Dunfermline as "not getting relegated". they were unlucky not to qualify out of Hearts' League cup section. (see our Instagram feed for the much vaunted 25/26 Dunfermline strip).Alcohol in Scottish grounds?? Yea or Nay?Plus what we have been watching - The Last of Us, Andor, The Gilded Age, Star Trek:Strange New Worlds, The Assassin, F1, Wimbledon, Ballard, Shogun (re-watch) & Foundation. Yellowstone takes a pounding!Enjoy!G, M & JFollow us on Instagram

Can Glasgow do Real Ale??-Episode 34
A trip West where we ask the obvious question...is there drinkable Real Ale in Glasgow?? All the pubs were exceptionally welcoming, certainly, the beers in some were okay...others were excellent. The season isn't far off, we get quite political on the back of a TV documentary and some of our holiday trips are analysed. The usual topics are covered too.The sound continues to be better, but the pints clearly took a toll over the day. Enjoy!Follow us on Instagram

Kays Bar - Episode 19
On a freezing afternoon in Edinburgh, your intrepid podcasters sought out solace with some real ale and it took 5 attempts to get into a good pub in Edinburgh's New Town. Our original choice (The Cumberland Bar) didn't open - like other pubs post-covid - until late in the afternoon....so Kays Bar it is. (Great pub, fantastic, consistently high quality beers!)Good sound in this one, some new Ailments were discovered and exchanged, but our combined mental health remains good. Gary returns from Chicago specially to make this podcast - we briefly discuss Hearts and choose our top and not so top pub visits over the past 2+ years of AA&A.Enjoy!Follow us on Instagram

Episode 17 - Newhaven - Starbank Inn
Virgin territory! (Not many 60 year olds get to experience that) None of us had been to The Starbank Inn before and we were pleasantly surprised by the beer and friendly welcome we were given.Nonetheless, expect the usual mix (Gary went to Canada and Alaska for 3 weeks recently) of new Ailments, a brighter outlook for Hearts and some new TV shows to catch up on/recommend for you. The Grey Horse Inn, Balerno - Episode 12
The usual tripe...Hearts football (its not a pleasant discussion!), Cinema's iconic set pieces and we are all relatively well. Joined this month by a recently retired from work guest, Mr Colin Lambie (he is a Rangers 'fan').Colin gives us some insight into the mindset of the supporters of the Old Firm and keeps us on the straight and narrow. Suffice to say that Rangers did us (Hearts) no favours by losing to Aberdeen for the first time in many years at Pittodrie. Enjoy!Follow us on Instagram

The Blue Blazer - Episode 10
Well...like the inability to get a pint of Stewarts Pentland IPA at this pub (despite the barmans best efforts - thankfully the Two by Two beer was beautiful) technical problems beset us and we didn't get the first 32 minutes of our blether recorded adequately enough to broadcast. Our apologies, we will get it right in March. Anyway enjoy a Happy Valley discussion, a beer/pub review, a trip down beer memory lane and a discussion about our favourite brewery tours. Please do leave a comment/review.Follow us on Instagram
