All My Only Children
by Ashley & May
All My Only Children is a podcast by Ashley Brooke Roberts and May Wilkerson, two comedians who are endlessly interested in why people are the way they are and why they do the things they do. They started the podcast because they wanted to talk about how being raised as an only child made them different but as they investigated, they started to wonder if only child-dom is actually more of a mentality—Maybe they’re not the only ones struggling with loneliness, anxiety, and trying to figure out who they are.Turns out life is hard, even for people who have siblings, in some cases, maybe even harder. On All My Only Children, Ashley and May talk to their funniest and most talented friends about childhoods and life with siblings, which, believe it or not, easily segued into conversations about mental health, relationships, and how to be a person in the world. Please join us whether you’re a literal only child or just one in spirit.

Back 2 Skool
Welcome to the last episode of Season One! We are going on a little hiatus while Ashley starts a new job and May moves. In this episode we discuss horror movies, public transportation, and completely fall apart at the end when our internet fails us. Do the last five minutes make sense? No. Can we hear each other? At times, but ultimately no. Did we have fun? You bet your ass we did. Thank you for listening and we'll see you in November!

Ep 14: The Jobs Episode, Part 2! Walking Dogs, Selling Our Souls, and Crying in Bathrooms
In the second part of our 2-part JOBS series, Ashley and May talk about all the jobs we've had since we started comedy (AC). And there have been a LOT. From telling jokes in a bathtub, to selling tomatoes at the farmer’s market, to napping in illegal schools, to being the face of cleaning products, and beyond. Also, we discussed how May used to pick fights with Mormons, why we’ve both cried in a lot of restaurant bathrooms, and the time Ashley got laid off a job for being too funny (and another time involving pizza). We also dropped some juicy sibling recs that MIGHT change your life (or at least help you get to work on time). Thank you for listening, please remember to subscribe, drop us a rating and a review, and to never spill a piña colada on a businessman! He won't like it!

Ep 13: The Jobs Episode - Part 1! Getting Hired, Getting Fired, and the Artist's Way (into debt)
Not to brag, but we have both had a LOT of jobs. In Part 1 of our 2-part jobs episode, we are talking about all the jobs we had from our teen years up until we started comedy -- from lawless movie theaters to the world's top comedy club to radical publishing houses, from waiting tables to selling perfume to babysitting for narc children (guess which job paid in cigarettes?). We talk about our favorite and least favorite work environments, getting fired for gross incompetence, and why Julia Cameron's The Artists Way is the reason we aren't living in Park Slope and married to architects -- and more! Also, Ashley has a grocery shopping hack, and May thinks you should be using Google maps to creep on your loved ones. If you enjoy this episode, please remember to subscribe, drop us a rating and a review, and to ALWAYS lie on your resume. Thanks for listening!

Ep 12: Liz Magee is All About Love
Liz Magee is a TV writer, comedian, our close friend, and without her, this podcast might not exist?! She joined us to talk all about love, weddings, people pleasing, breaking unhealthy relationship patterns, her wild origin story, family secrets, the life-changing truth bomb dropped on her at age 12 during a game of water balloons, Florida, Santa Claus, and more! Also, Ashley cares about your ear health, and May wants you to say "thank you" to your dog/cat/cow. Thanks for listening, please don’t forget to like, subscribe, leave us a review, and make us your new emergency contacts! Ep 11: Anatomy of a Birthday
Birthdays, like Bubba Gump Shrimp, bring us all together! But they can also be stressful and complicated and lead to a 2-day hangover. In honor of Ashley's birthday this week, we talked about the ups and downs of celebrating yourself, shared our best and worst bday stories, and learned some facts about the history of birthdays. We also discussed Anatomy of a Fall, why chain restaurants > fine dining, and the time Ashley was falsely accused of being a witch. Plus, May "went to Japan" by watching a gay reality show and Ashley discovered Margaritaville's best-kept secret. Thanks for listening, please remember to like, subscribe, leave us a review, and have a birthday! To send us your feedback/hopes/dreams, please email us: [email protected]

Ep 10: Natasha Vaynblat is a “Childless Freak”
This week we have comedian, writer, and all-star friend Natasha Vaynblat on the show! We talk growing up as an only child, apartment complexes, and how to really stick it to your live in enemy (Uncle). We get DEEP into the topic of reproduction. Who should do it? Who wants to do it? Should we all just be “Childless Freaks”? Plus, we introduce a new segment for the pod and May tells us the wrong way to shave our legs. Thank you for listening! Please don’t forget to rate, review, and to have a SUMMER. Natasha can be found on instagram at NatashaVaynblat. Jasmine Pierce is a comedian and writer of TV shows you have definitely seen. She joined us to talk about her early years as an only child before she became a sibling and how it affected her creatively, socially, and emotionally. We also talked about: autism and ADHD, making friends online (and off), finding your people, doing "THE WORK," and a space cake-fueled fight in an Amsterdam hotel room that only one of us remembers - and more! We didn't want this episode to end! Plus, Ashley is in her melon era, and May is having a couch girl summer. Thanks for listening and for being our sibling (by law) and please don't forget to like, subscribe, leave us a review, and invite us to your next family holiday!

Ep 8: (Your Big Sisters Share) Summer Recommendations!
This week we're sharing everything we're watching, buying, searching for, and injecting into our hearts and minds this summer, because that's what big sisters do. Ashley and May are spilling our summer recs and they range from seashell swag to fanny packs to Gay Pride. Plus, one of us doesn’t really understand how summer recs work. And the other might have accidentally joined a high-end candle cult. Special shoutouts to the beach, Ashley’s flight attendant, and the hard working crew at Disneyland. Thank you for listening! Please don’t forget to rate, review, and to have a SUMMER. We also talked about her childhood in Maine, what it means to be “too much,” how to say no to things you don’t want to do, dealing with irrational behavior, why everyone needs therapy, and beyond. Special shout outs to water, and The Artist’s Way. Thanks for listening, please don’t forget to rate and review the pod and to clean out your lint filter!

Ep 5: Can’t Get a DUI on a Horse (Sponsored by Molson™️)
In another very meta episode of the pod, we interviewed writer, comedian, and co-host of this literal podcast, May Wilkerson. How does a horseback riding straight-A student become a Lifetime movie alcoholic with a purse full of vodka? Is it Canada’s fault? What is Trigonometry*? We tackle these important questions and also discuss: The Boxcar Children, eating Play-Doh, late-in-life ADHD diagnoses, drunk waitressing, the 12-step-meeting-to-stand-up-comedy pipeline, why control freaks love baking, and more. (This episode is actually not sponsored by Molson or Big Pharma but it should be). TRIGGER WARNING: We discuss eating disorders around minutes 37-48. If you enjoy the podcast, please like, subscribe, rate, and review, and thanks for listening! *We never figure out what Trigonometry is or why

Ep 4: Solo Adventures
On today’s very meta episode, we interviewed comedian, writer, and co-host of this very podcast, Ashley Brooke Roberts. We discussed her upbringing, moving around, imaginary friends, existential crises, Montessori schools, and our favorite place: inside the clothing rack at the mall. We also talked about big sisters (imagined), little brothers (real), Ashley’s cool dad, religion, rec basements (a recurring theme), and more! Thank you for listening, and if you like the pod, please drop us a rating and a review. We love you, even if you’ve never seen Chinatown!

Ep 3: Siblings & Super Friends with Julia Johns
In this episode, we are joined by our first ever guest, the hilarious comedian, filmmaker, and our *super-friend,* Julia Johns. She is also famously a sibling-haver, so we grilled her about what it’s like growing up with three siblings and, most enviably, a recreational basement. We also talked about social batteries, "Irish goodbyes,” being too awkward to watch the eclipse, the complexities of sharing, and the concept of a “best friend.” And we revisited the San Fran road trip — aka the spiral that started it all. If you enjoy this pod, pls drop us a rating and a review, thank you!!!

Ep 2: The Great Debate (Introverts vs Extroverts)
In the second ever episode of this podcast, Ashley and May discuss parties (Ashley literally went to one!), making new friends, the pros and cons of being ghosted (turns out it’s mostly cons), the rules of texting (embrace the chaos!), comedy-induced IBS (for the girlies), and we took a quiz “LIVE” on air to find out once and for all if we’re introverts or extroverts… the results were NOT as expected (shout out to the quiz makers over at VeryWellMind who changed our lives forever). This episode was a **journey** and if you enjoy it, please subscribe, rate, and leave us a review. Thanks for listening!

Ep 1: A Podcast is Born
Ashley and May kick off their first ever podcast episode by discussing our sibling-free childhoods, what it means to be “spoiled,” how to choose outfits and make friends when you don’t have older siblings to bully you/tell you what’s cool, our overactive imaginations, ADHD, and we revisit a trip to San Francisco in which our collective anxiety resulted in (minor) damage to private property. Are only children actually maladjusted or is that just a myth perpetuated by capitalism to get people to create more consumers? We’ll get into this, and more! This episode is an only child (for now) so it needs your attention and will (hopefully) keep you entertained. Thank you for listening!
