We hosted a sold-out evening in Los Angeles with Tommy Robinson, complete with high security and a riveting talk. Drawing from years of first-hand experience, Tommy exposed how jihad is waged in the UK — through grooming gangs, horrific assaults, and authorities that protect perpetrators while persecuting victims and truth-tellers. Geert Wilders, one of the fiercest defenders of political and cultural sovereignty and certainly one of the most courageous politicians in the world was our guest speaker in Los Angeles on January 10th 2026, here is his speech in full. We are again honored to host this most remarkable of men, having previously had him delivering the keynote speech at our event in 2017.  Especially at a time such as this where our nation is facing so many of the same threats that Mr. Wilders has been fighting against in the Netherlands.  Europe generally and the Netherlands more acutely can be seen as the canary in the coal mine, warning of nothing less than total collapse in the face of cultural jihad, extreme leftism, and capitulation to globalism. Few are as maligned as Geert Wilders, founder and leader of the Dutch Party for Freedom (PVV), a politician who believes in the sovereignty of his nation, the right to its cultural heritage, its civil and national integrity.  But the maligning of Mr. Wilders extends far beyond that, he and his party's outspokenness on topics of immigration and Islam in particular have contributed to his being a target for decades of death threats from Islamic organizations.  The extent of security that he and his family live under is extraordinary.  The positions on immigration, Islam, and the EU held by his Party for Freedom of course draw not only threats and invective, but have also propelled it to the forefront of Dutch politics, winning it the plurality in the 2023 elections, translating to the greatest number of seats in Parliament than any other party - 37 out of the possible 150. The nature of Parliamentary politics, however, in large part minimized the effect that Mr. Wilders and his party could have, and PVV has lost some seats in the last election but Mr. Wilders still received by far the most personal votes of any politician in The Netherlands. Mr. Wilders continues to be one of the fiercest defenders of the homeland, one of the strongest among a cadre of strong populist, nationalist, sovereigntist leaders throughout Europe who stand against these same issues, the self-same issues that we are facing here, right here, right now. As we watch Texas being invaded as well as the fall of New York City, it behooves us to take very careful note of the canary in the coalmine, the lessons we can learn from Mr. Wilders and the continued suicide of the Netherlands as one of countless examples. Dr. Wood is an anthropologist and former provost. He was appointed president of the NAS in January 2009. Before that, he served as NAS’s executive director (2007-2008), and as provost of The King’s College in New York City (2005-2007). Dr. Wood was a tenured member of the Anthropology Department at Boston University, where he also held a variety of administrative positions, including associate provost and president’s chief of staff. He also oversaw the university’s scholarly publications and served as acting university librarian. He received his Ph.D. in anthropology in 1987 from the University of Rochester. His dissertation, Quoting Heaven, examined the emergence of an American folk religion and pilgrimage center in rural Wisconsin. His undergraduate degree is from Haverford College (1975) and he has a master’s degree in library science from Rutgers University (1977). Dr. Wood is the author of Wrath: America Enraged, 1620: A Critical Response to the 1619 Project, A Bee in the Mouth: Anger in America Now, and of Diversity: The Invention of a Concept which won the Caldwell Award for Leadership in Higher Education from the John Locke Foundation. These books extend his anthropological interest in examining emergent themes in modern American culture. In addition to his scholarly work, Dr. Wood has published several hundred articles in print and online journals, such as Wall Street Journal, The Spectator, Partisan Review and National Review Online, and the Chronicle of Higher Education.
