Dirty Epic welcomes aboard @reka-zalan for the 138th installment of Amplify Series. Reka Zalan is a Berlin-based DJ, born to a Hungarian father and a German-Dutch mother. Her sets unfold with a keen sense of focus, shifting between hypnotic depth and percussive drive. Navigating through different shades of techno with an open heart, she weaves together trippy, sometimes psy-tinged tension, rattling grooves, mental maelstroms, and uplifting momentum into one coherent arc. While she started out DJing digitally, she has also learned the craft of vinyl over the years and now enjoys working fluidly with both formats. In addition to recent back-to-back appearances with peers such as Rill, she occasionally performs as No Life Signal, a back-to-back duo with fellow DJ THNTS. Growing up in southern Germany and still attending school, her early interest in electronic music and DJ culture led friends to gift her a DJ workshop — a step that marked the beginning of her journey. While studying cultural sciences in Bremen, she began playing her first gigs and became involved in the city’s subcultural scene. After moving to Berlin in 2015, she gradually established herself as a DJ, co-curating a party series at Mensch Meier before joining the booking team of ://about blank. There, she later became a resident and, together with THNTS and their close friend Marc, co-ran the techno-focused in-house series ://elements for several years. Since 2023, she has held a local residency at the renowned Tresor Club and also plays at other key Berlin venues like Berghain – where her debut marked a personal milestone on her path. Off the dancefloor, Reka has been part of the Hard Wax record store team since 2019, where she continues to deepen and broaden her musical horizons. She is also a member of coppi, a cultural space and collective in Lichtenberg that hosts weekly community-led studio sessions. Before fully immersing herself in club culture, she worked at the Berlin Music Commission, supporting the city’s music industry network. Dirty Epic welcomes aboard @krenzlin for the 135th installment of Amplify Series. Krenzlin was born and raised in Brandenburg, Germany. It was in the early 2000's when he first got into techno music. In 2009 he played at Tresor for the first time which greatly influenced his progress as an artist. Not long after followed a series of international Bookings in more than ten countries and festival bookings at Nature One, Ruhr In, Summer Spirit and many others. Krenzlin has built up quite the reputation as a producer. If one reads the list of labels which he has released on, it is hard to believe that such a respected discography can be formed in such a short amount of time with releases on Synewave, Nachstrom Schallplatten, Konsequent Records and many others. From 2012-2019 he released more than one hundred original tracks and remixes. In 2020 he founded and created his own record label “770-Output“. A few months later he started the project “Slight Function” together with Argentinian artist Rhombic. Their first release came out on Rhombic’s label followed by their recent release on Pfirter’s imprint, MindTrip. Ancient Methods returns with his first EP in three years. On “Society of the Spectacle”, we find seven pieces, some of them short, radio play–like sound sketches that draw on Guy Debord’s visionary book of the same name as the conceptual template for selected sonic interpretations. While Ancient Methods’ previous releases already incorporated subtle commentaries on his immediate surroundings, “Society of the Spectacle” dissects microscopic fragments of the text, holding them up like a magnifying glass to illuminate the book’s prophecies as they have materialized in contemporary reality. Musically, however, the EP feels liberated from any attachment to the spirit of the times—almost anachronistically Ancient Methods. Aside from the near-euphoric moments of “Burn The Frame” this may well be the most introverted work of his oeuvre: far removed from sensationalism, yet without paying homage to conservative minimalism. The opening track, “Image Is My Commodity” carries the unmistakable metallic sonic armor, as trembling beats punch through the guts. The tracks rarely exceed the 125 BPM mark, allowing their full industrial force to unfold. Psychedelic elements—already increasingly audible on the previous EP “The Third Siren”—are further developed here, while on “Cache la misère” obscure, polyrhythmic metal spikes drill through loops with a folkloric undertone. The EP’s surprising outlier is “Burn The Frame” featuring vocals by darkwave icon Night in Athens. The track pairs early ’90s techno references with catchy minimal synth elements—a combination previously characteristic of the side project The Loud Age. The 38th Earwiggle release comes from one of our favourites, and a debutant on the label, Serbian studio supremo Commissar Lag. The “Absolution EP” finds Lag delivering his playful vision of techno, dipping into the past while also pointing us to the future, all framed through an exquisite production gleam. Dense, rolling rhythms reminiscent of early ’00s Stockholm techno, combined with a catchy repeating vocal sequence (one of Lag’s trademark techniques) and rising sirens, result in the monster opening title track “Absolution”. “Aim Without Mercy” is another club destroyer - jabbing keys, broken jagged beats, and a series of rising pressure points making it another winner. “The Blessed” meanwhile, shifts the mood from mental to majestic, with interchanging leads and reverb-drenched climaxes marking the big-room peak of the record. Rounding things off is Irish wunderkind Dylan Fogarty, who reimagines “Aim Without Mercy” through a deep and psychedelic lens, layering textural collages over surging, jacking 909s. Always committed to the music and with the ability to smoothly transmit the different levels of intensity, with a tireless study of the diversity of rhythms and the different genres within dance music, Leiras has grown to be one to keep an eye on in the international techno scene. Born in the north of Spain, he came across clubs like ‘La Real’ and ‘El Jardin’ in early 2000. Two clubs important to the history of techno music within Spain, and more so, also important to Leiras musical background, as they influenced him and his artistic career in a fundamental way. Being the mind behind ‘Ownlife’, a record label focusing on the most visceral, hypnotical and sometimes experimental techno music, he created a home mainly for his own productions, but also a space with the freedom to express his own particular vision of dance music. With this in mind, Ownlife is also a platform to showcase Leiras favorites producers at the time. As a DJ he is influenced by different styles in electronica, which clearly shows at the time when he propounds his own sound from the DJ booth. He always establishes a bridge in between the past – the purity of the first works of pioneer techno producers, and the future – visible in the advanced character of the vanguardist productions of different artists these days. This compromise with the continuous music digging, the one created in the past by authentic visionaries, is what inspired him to create the sublabel “SELD” based on one single concept; to perpetuate the legacy of some of techno’s pioneers, and bringing back the attention to music that keeps the pure character and commitment it was created with. During the past years, Leiras' work has brought him to clubs all over the world, from Europe to Asia and all the way to South America, playing at respected clubs and festivals. Cuba's Åre:gone & Uruguayan William Arist return to Lady Tazz's Mind Medizin with shadowy deep techno excellence. Åre:gone is Havana-born but now Miami-based, having left the repression of his homeland in search of creative freedom. Before leaving, he was a core part of the national scene with both the Vórtice and Rusty Nails collectives, which promoted proper underground techno. He has been crafting his own groovy, organic, and heady sounds for a decade and was last on this label back in 2023 with his ‘Latin Lover’ EP.' Sorry, But I Don't Understand' is his fantastic opener, a spacious affair driven by deep kicks and glitchy claps scattered throughout the mix, next to warped synths and sultry spoken words. 'Minimo Tecnico' has a tougher undercurrent but remains stripped back. Deft details evoke deserted, post-human landscapes that keep the mind busy as the body succumbs to the rhythm of the drums. Espacio Sonoro music school teacher William Arist has also landed here before with his Neo Groove EP in 2023. The Montevideo native operates at the heavier end of the techno spectrum on labels such as Uncage, Planet Rhythm, and Bek Audio, and also has his own label, Perseverancia Records. He kicks off with 'Universal Language', which mixes up tribal hits and unresolved loops that lock you in a moment where time dissolves. Closer 'Tecnica Ancestral' cuts loose with a jumbled off off-grid hits and wiry synths darting about the mix like pinballs. Mary Yuzovskaya’s Monday Off rounds out 2025 with its eighth vinyl-only various artists compilation, arriving 12th December, featuring Feph, Rasser, Mathys Lenne, and Xhato. Opening the record is Florida’s Feph, co-operator of Alchemista Records and Zosimos, with ‘A Realization’, where wild electric currents crackle over a subtle, sharp beat as shocks and zaps scatter into the darkness. Spanish DJ and producer Rasser follows with ‘Constant Pulse’, a hulking techno chugger of warped rhythms and hammering metallic hits. Shanti’s sets weave a story of the simultaneous despair and yearning that are intertwined with the human condition and illustrate an intentional trajectory through combining and cultivating surreal, atmospheric, and haunting sounds. I’m always hungry for new sound experiences, and I’ll put all my soul into it." - Raffaele Attanasio The confines of contemporary music often ensnare a musician in a particular sound. Wrapped up in a box that defines and sells the 'product', that it's easier to digest for the modern consumer. It operates on a plane where it is assimilated in tiny soundbites that are quickly digested and moved on. Sound can get lost amongst trying to 'make it' or get likes. Music is not lost though; it exists as it always has and the passion for composing transcendent and transportive tracks exists in an artist like Raffaele Attanasio. Born to a musician father in his home city of Naples, Attanasio was only satiated when listening to virtuoso maestros like Il Guardiano del Faro and Keith Emerson. Developing his prodigious ear, he trained on drums and then piano and his auspicious ability become apparent early. In his late teens, he ventured into DJing and electronic music production and has garnered plaudits from Jeff Mills, Len Faki and Ben Sims; even performing with Mills in a B2B live set and also Octave One. He found a home within the electronic music community, heading his own label Letter From Jerusalem, and releasing on others, such as Third Wave Black and Non Series. His label even released music from Douglas McCarthy of the band Nitzer Ebb. What has never been lost on Attanasio is his eclectic flair. His releases span from nefarious techno - even releasing under his X-501 alias - to riveting Detroit inspired dance music with soulful piano. That piano may encapsulate a sound not many may equate to the Italian, but he now threads down a course that garners influences from his native Naples and musicians like Keith Jarret Duke Ellington and even Hans Zimmer. His artistic mould is shaped from by his experiences, and these are laid bare in his jazz-tinged sound on his album Nuovo Futuro, which was released on Axis records. Kaleidoscopic in his quenching of musical thirst, Attanasio keeps music in its purest form. These melodic air vibrations evoke something opaque, yet wildly pulchritudinous, regardless of the audience. Bangladeshi-Canadian artist Lady Tazz has long been leading the techno underground with her dark, seductive styles designed to get dancers to unleash their inner kinks. Her own sounds appear on labels such as Rekids, as well as her own Mind Medizin, which is a tastemaking outlet for liberating techno. Hermanas started in 2024 to spotlight female producers who inspire Lady Tazz. The series encourages artists to celebrate expression, freedom, and individuality on the dancefloor, and this latest edition is another bold continuation packed with artistic empowerment and fearless sonic exploration. First up is Pert from Buenos Aires, who heads up the GRUVALISMO label and plays around the world. 'Vocal Player' pairs driving, dusty Detroit techno drums with melancholic chords that linger in the air, bringing emotional richness alongside an irresistible groove. Next is Shakti with 'Le FleuR Du Mal', who crafts a moody, intense, yet sparse deep techno atmosphere, with wispy sci-fi chords encircling the groove and pounding kicks powering on below. Mexico City's Laura Coch has brought her sound to renowned platforms like HÖR Berlin and Unknown to the Unknown. She has collaborated with Egyptian Lover and heads up the Global Harmony party collective. Her 'Moshing Ferrets' is a bleakpost-human soundscape that rides double-time kicks and fizzes with static before molten melodies fall down the face of the track and warped bass sucks you in deep. Colombia's Sara Delerio is another raw, hypnotic techno talent who has begun to make a mark in Europe. Her 'Espiritu' is quick-stepping, well-swung and dubbed out techno with bubbly, organic percussion sprinkled over the mix and ghostly synths layered in to freaky effect. Lastly, Laurel brings a vast techno groove that rolls with the unstoppable force of an oil tanker as warped synths play off the beats and the pressure keeps building. Fusing elements of heavy, hypnotic basslines with intricate patterns and immersive reverb, Materielle’s music taps into the raw energy and experimental edge of underground techno, with an emphasis on subtle detail and emotional depth. A self-taught producer with a decade-long career in music technology, Materielle has cultivated a distinctive sonic palette shaped by the teachings of pioneering artists like Rødhåd, Ben Klock, Claudio PRC, and Richie Hawtin. The project’s name, Materielle, is inspired by the delicate art of weaving—an analogy for the artist's approach to music, where sound is crafted through layers and textures, much like fabrics are woven together to create something new. She has brought her infectious, high-energy style to stages at HARD Summer, CRSSD Festival, Insomniac events, and prominent underground institutions like The Lot Radio.
