The days of “job stability” and a “solid middle class” life are long gone, contrary to what the media or anyone else is telling you. It’s on you to create your own career path that utilizes past experience with new challenges. Jim Kim, from Albany, New York, shares his thoughts on his unique journey through career exploration.

In the weeks and months to come we’ll explore – sometimes with certain purpose and other times with satire or parody the intended consequence – all manner of better living, peer into the possibilities that dreaming ‘big’ holds for each of us, or even glimpse great efforts of work excellence and career fulfillment. Good health, mindfulness, commitment to social well-being, a life of purpose, knowledge-sharing and self-improvement are among the many notions or motifs we are likely to examine. In this episode, let’s call it our launch party, we introduce you to and explore the principles and spirit of Portfolio Career Employment: self-styled, independent work strategies that achieve multiple streams of income through carefully selected employment channels signalling pursuit of your life’s work vision and declared purpose. You are in essence what we call a Portfolio Careerist. This unique, creative employment concept is at the very core of my writing in my book, An Uncommon Way Forward, published in 2009, the workshops I conduct, lectures I give, and mentorships I provide. Expect to see more on this in selected episodes this podcast will feature over time.
