    Does Baptism Now Save Us?

Paul claimed we are saved by grace. Peter claimed baptism saves us. Who is correct? Is the Bible incoherent? Let's dive in. andrewpaulcannon.blog

  2. 26

Build the Church! …or be faithful

Jesus never said we were to build His church. He never called Peter the first Pope. He never said His kingdom was marked by any organization. He said He would build His church. He hated the type of religion that sought to gain for itself by His sacrifice.andrewpaulcannon.blog

  3. 25

    On Law and Grace Today

There are two ways to think about growing closer with God. Either our religion is by the Law or by grace. Where 99% of human religion across the spectrum glorifies ritual law, grace and truth came through Jesus. andrewpaulcannon.blog

  4. 24

The Unsearchable God and Order of Salvation

Join me as I think about God's transcendence, our inability to observe Him, and what it means to be born of God. andrewpaulcannon.blog

  5. 23

Text Driven Tuesday: The Angels' Song

Glory to God. That's the motivation. Peace on Earth. That's the work. Merry Christmas! andrewpaulcannon.blog

  6. 22

Theology Thursday: Take Care With Biblical Prophecy

We have a tendency to read too much into Scripture to confirm our own biases. We don't have to. The prophets were bold and clear. andrewpaulcannon.blog

  7. 21

Text Driven Tuesday: Thankfulness Pt. 2

God wants us to be happy and blessed, filled with thanksgiving. He shares how we can live such a life in any circumstance. andrewpaulcannon.blog

  8. 20

Theology Thursday: The Prophets on Christmas

The prophets told us about Christmas for at least a millennium before Jesus was born. We should listen.andrewpaulcannon.blog

  9. 19

Text Driven Tuesday: Thankfulness Part 1

God does care about our happiness. He wants to bless us while also doing what is best for us. He tells us how to live lives that are basically happy, filled with thanksgiving in everything. Join Pastor Andrew as he looks at 1 Thessalonians 5. andrewpaulcannon.blog

Text Driven Tuesday: Church is About True Family, Not Performances

Last Sunday, I talked about what it means for us to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking the gathering of ourselves together. andrewpaulcannon.blog

  12. 16

Ministry Monday: The Fall of the Busy Bee

We are all busy. There's always stuff to do. So much stuff that we forget about people. Maybe it's time to learn to cease.andrewpaulcannon.blog

  13. 15

Theology Thursday: Did God Know Adam Would Fall?

If God knew Adam would fall and bring a curse upon the earth, why create Adam with such a capacity to sin?andrewpaulcannon.blog

  14. 14

Text Driven Tuesday: Church is About the Gospel, Not Our Agendas

Today, Andrew continues through Hebrews 10 to show the response of the Christian to God's saving grace. Jesus provided all things to us in salvation. Therefore, we hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering. andrewpaulcannon.blog

  15. 13

Text Driven Tuesday: Church is Freeing, Not Burdensome

Here, I continue through Hebrews 10, discovering that doing church is about freedom, not burden.   andrewpaulcannon.blog

  16. 12

    Theology Thursday: Blessing Abraham

Scripture tells us plainly that those who bless Abraham will be blessed, and those who curse Abraham will be cursed. Does that mean univocal support of everything modern-day Israel does geo-politically?andrewpaulcannon.blog

  17. 11

Text Driven Tuesday: Church is Worship, Not Ritual

This week, we see Hebrews 10:18-22 and learn that doing church is about worship, not ritual. We can't earn God. Our worship is a response to what God has already done. There is only one offering for sin. No worldly priests needed.

  18. 10

Ministry Monday: What is Family Worship?

God has explicitly given Christian men the responsibility of dying for their wives and raising their children in the discipline and instruction of God.andrewpaulcannon.blog

  19. 9

Text Driven Tuesday: Dismount the High Horses, John 1:14-18

John has introduced the Word, who was with God and was God in the beginning. I believe this is the word through whom God spoke creation into being. I believe it is the Voice of God that was walking in the Garden in Genesis 3. I believe it is the Word the prophets heard when they recorded the decree of God and Moses heard in the burning bush. I believe this Word, is Jesus. In John 1, we get to the pinnacle of history when this ancient Word became flesh.

  20. 8

    Text Driven Tuesday: Ephesians 2

God's love for us is truly unconditional, such that we cannot boast about coming to Him. We were dead. We could do nothing. Yet, God gave us life in Christ. Since He loves us unconditionally, we also love others unconditionally. andrewpaulcannon.blog

  21. 7

Ministry Monday: Stop Casting New Vision

When we cast our own vision or try to get others to meet our goals, we've made our ministry about us rather than Christ. God has already given us His vision, and we can't do better than that.   andrewpaulcannon.blog

  22. 6

Ministry Monday: Pastors as Helpers, not Heads

Pastors are not popes. Jesus plainly taught that we are to be helpers, not heads; foundations, not fathers. Do not be called leader, for you only have one leader--Jesus.   andrewpaulcannon.blog

  23. 5

Theology Thursday: Apologetics and Creation Part 1

Many people choose not to believe the Bible's historical account based on science, never mind that science can't observe history in a repeatable and demonstrable way--which isn't science anyway. Let's dig in. andrewpaulcannon.blog

  24. 4

    Text Driven Tuesday: Ephesians 1

Paul begins his address to the saints. At the foundation of his letter, there is one essential doctrine. People are sinners who cannot become righteous. We must be made righteous in Christ alone.andrewpaulcannon.blog

Introducing The New Andrew Paul Cannon Podcast

It's not about me. It's about iron sharpening iron. It's been a while since I've done any serious podcasting. I've been out of the game since I did Blacktop Pulpit and Unraveled with my good friend, Ken Duffy, in Southeast Arizona. Well, God's done some serious work in me since then. andrewpaulcannon.blog   Let's dig into ministry, exposition, and theology.
