Artists Talk: An Oral History of Tuesday Evenings at the Modern
by Artists Talk
When artists talk, we listen. Founded in 1892, the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth is the oldest museum in Texas. Yet little is known about the history of its educational programming. This oral history documents and preserves the beloved and long-running Tuesday Evenings at the Modern lecture series through interviews with featured speakers, stalwart audience members, and museum staff. Moreover, through the production of this oral history, new historical primary source material is generated, the powerfully positive feedback loop between the Modern’s educational programming and the DFW creative community is demonstrated, and the Modern is provided with a sturdy support for institutional memory.
