Wolves are always associated with the moon, and this is likely because they seek inner knowledge, as the moon represents the unknown, the hidden and the mysterious. The wolf is instinctive and when it attacks, it always does so in a pack; it is fierce, but also very intelligent, something I admire, and it loves freedom. If we apply the characteristics of this animal to a person, as their power animal, it bestows its faculties upon them, giving them that instinct, that sensuality, yet combined with intelligence. It looks after its family, but in its own eyes it is a free spirit, connected to what lies beyond what is simply visible. These are very interesting characteristics, which is why I love to feature the wolf in my designs. SPANISH VERSION (click here!) La figura del lobo como tótem aminal es muy interesante, es un ser que es leal a su manada, la defiende, vela por ella, pero también puede caminar en solitario. Siempre se relaciona a la luna con los lobos y es probable que ello sea porque buscan el conocimiento interior, ya que la luna representa lo desconocido, lo oculto y el misterio. El lobo es instintivo y cuando ataca siempre lo hace en manada, es feroz, pero también es muy inteligente, cosa que admiro y le gusta la libertad. Si aplicamos las características de este animal a una persona, como su animal de poder, le atribuye sus facultades, dándole ese instinto, ese sexo sentido pero combinado con la inteligencia. Cuida de su familia, pero a su ver es un alma libre, teniendo conexión con lo que está más allá de lo que se ve simplemente. Son características muy interesantes y por eso me encanta traer al lobo en mis diseños. Process in pictures - Proceso en imágenes Design process The design was created entirely in Photoshop CS6 without the use of AI, using 11 royalty-free images spread across 20 layers. To create the background, I used two images: one of a watercolour, which I arranged across two layers, adjusting the light and contrast on the top layer; and one of text, which I divided into three parts using Hard Light and Overlay blending modes, then created a further layer of the entire image using Focus Light blending. I placed the image of the coloured patch on three layers in normal mode and in different positions. I split the forest image in half and placed them on two layers on either side of the design using the ‘Darken’ blend mode, and then the image of the white wolf with the ‘Hard Light’ blend mode over one of the previous ones. In the centre of the design, I placed the images of the folded paper, having first erased the background, and the landscape image with trees over the previous one, both with a darker colour blend. At the top, I placed the moon using the ‘Lighter Colour’ blend mode. At the bottom right, I placed the black-and-white image of the wolf, using the ‘Darker Colour’ blend mode, and on top of this, in one section, I placed a piece of text on a new layer using the ‘Spot Light’ blend mode. Finally, I worked on the image of the wolf in profile, to one side of the design, using the spotlight blend, and the image of the woman on two layers with darker and lighter colour blends, the latter applied only to part of the face to highlight the light. The animation is done completely in After Effects, working on the opacity of each layer and adding lights in the form of clouds for better contrast. I send you all a big hello and see you next time. Para elaborar el fondo usé dos imágenes, una de una acuarela la cual dispuse en dos capas y a la de arriba le arreglé la luz y el contraste, y una de un texto o escrito, la cual dividí en tres partes colocando fusiones de luz fuerte y superponer y luego hice una capa más de la imagen entera con la fusión de luz focal. En tres capas coloqué la imagen de la mancha de colores en modo normal y en distintas posiciones. Con la imagen del bosque la dividí a la mitad y las coloqué en dos capas a cada lado del diseño con la fusión de oscurecer y luego la imagen del lobo blanco con la fusión de luz fuerte sobre una de las anteriores. En el centro del diseño puse las imágenes del papel doblado, borrando previamente el fondo y la imagen del paisaje con árboles sobre la anterior, ambas con fusión de color más oscuro. Arriba dispuse la luna con la fusión de color más claro. Abajo a la derecha coloqué la imagen en blanco y negro del lobo, usando la fusión de color más oscuro y sobre esta en una parte dispuse un trozo de escrito en una nueva capa con la fusión de luz focal. Finalmente trabajé la imagen del lobo de perfil, a un lado del diseño con la fusión de luz focal y la imagen de la mujer en dos capas con fusiones de color más oscuro y color más claro, esta última sólo para parte del rostro, realzando la luz. La animación está realizada completamente en After Effects, trabajando la opacidad de cada capa y agregando luces en forma de nubes para un mejor contraste. Spring is a beautiful season, and the greenery and flowers continue into the summer. This got me thinking about nature; those who follow me know I love it. But as well as possessing a powerful energy, nature is always watching us, always attentive to us, and we don’t realise it. Often it reacts to the things we do to it, especially what the world’s powerful do, harming it on a massive scale. That will always have consequences. But nature is also fractal, with patterns that repeat endlessly, as in flowers, as if it were a great consciousness that sees everything, that is everywhere, perhaps even having eyes within the flowers themselves. The fact is that we are part of it, and caring for nature is caring for ourselves; looking within and improving ourselves is important, and in this regard, nature plays a fundamental role. Esta es una época en donde las flores se pueden ver por todas partes, árboles, arbustos, rosales, flores pequeñas y silvestres y otras enormes y de los más variados colores. La primavera es una estación hermosa y el verde más las flores continúan durante el verano. Esto me hizo pensar en la naturaleza, los que me siguen saben que me encanta. Pero además de tener una energía poderosa, la naturaleza siempre nos observa, siempre está atenta a nosotros y de eso no nos damos cuenta. Muchas veces ella reacciona a las cosas que le hacemos, sobre todo lo que los poderosos del mundo hacen lastimándola a gran escala. Eso siempre tendrá consecuencias. Pero además la naturaleza es fractal con patrones que se repiten sin cesar, como en las flores, como si fuera una gran conciencia que todo lo ve, que está en todas partes, tal vez teniendo ojos hasta dentro de las flores. El hecho es que nosotros somos parte de ella y cuidarla es cuidarnos, mirar nuestro interior y mejorar es importante y en ese tema la naturaleza tiene un papel fundamental. Process in pictures - Proceso en imágenes Design process The design was created entirely in Photoshop CS6 without the use of AI, using 11 royalty-free images spread across 30 layers. First, I created a grey layer, onto which I placed the watercolour image with colours resembling a landscape, stretching it at the sides until it covered the entire design; I did this across two layers using the ‘Spot Light’ and ‘Darken’ blending modes. Then, on top of that and using the Hard Light blending mode, I placed the image of the blue splash in various positions, but on each layer I changed the colour via Image > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation, and on top of all this I placed the image of the splashes using the Darker Colour blending mode. I then worked on one of the fractals using the Overlay blending mode, and placed the image of the open flower on top of it, very large, filling the entire design, using the Spot Light blending mode. On top of this, I placed the two fractals with dark backgrounds, having first erased the background, in two layers, each with the ‘Lighten’ blend mode, together with the watercolour or paint image that looks like coloured smoke, using the ‘Darker’ blend mode. And on top of this, I placed the blue fractal with a transparent background using the ‘Divide’ blend mode to give it plenty of light in the animation. I then worked on the flower across four layers, in different positions, in normal mode, and placed the image that looks like a fusion of a tree and an eye on top of them, using the spotlight blend mode. From this same image, I created two larger layers to place on either side of the design. Finally, I worked on the image of the woman across three layers, having first removed the background, using spotlight, lighter colour and normal blending modes; the latter is just half the face, and I added light using filters. The animation is done completely in After Effects, working on the opacity of each layer and adding lights in the form of clouds for better contrast. I send you all a big hello and see you next time. Luego trabajé uno de los fractales son la fusión de superponer y sobre el puse la imagen de la flor abierta, bien grande, ocupando todo el diseño, con la fusión de luz focal. Sobre lo anterior dispuse los dos fractales que tienen fondo oscuro, borrando éste previamente y en dos capas cada una con la fusión de luminosidad junto con la imagen de acuarelas o pintura que parece humo de colores, con la fusión de color más oscuro. Y encima de esto puse el fractal azul con fondo trasparente con la fusión de dividir para darle mucha luz luego en la animación. Posteriormente trabajé la flor en cuatro capas, en distintas posiciones, en modo normal y encima de ellas puse la imagen que parece la fusión de un árbol y un ojo, usando fusión de luz focal. De esta misma imagen hice dos capas más grandes para colocarlas a ambos lados del diseño. Finalmente trabajé la imagen de la mujer en tres capas, borrando previamente el fondo, con fusiones de luz focal, color más claro y normal, esta última es sólo la mitad del rostro y le añadí luz con los filtros. La animación está realizada completamente en After Effects, trabajando la opacidad de cada capa y agregando luces en forma de nubes para un mejor contraste. They are placed there by the universe for everyone to see, but often go unnoticed. Signs for all sorts of things, for the different aspects of life. Some come in a direct form, as huge signs that are impossible to miss, but others are more subtle, and that is where we must be on the lookout. There are signs in the form of supposed coincidences: a message on the TV, something someone says to us, something that magically appears before us. Life’s synchronicities are signs, those things we say… ‘this just happened… it wasn’t a coincidence, it was a sign’. You just have to close your human eyes and open those that allow us to see beyond, and really look at things as if they were a giant jigsaw puzzle. Focusing on what we desire or want is the key to seeing the signs. SPANISH VERSION (click here!) La vida está llena de señales, y quien presta atención y sabe ver sin vivir en modo automático, puede darse cuenta de esas señales. Y ellas están allí puestas por el universo para todo el mundo, sólo que muchas veces pasan inadvertidas. Señales para todo tipo de cosas, para los distintos aspectos de la vida. Algunas vienen en forma directa, en forma de letreros bien grandes, donde no verlo es imposible, pero hay otras más sutiles y es allí donde debemos estar atentos. Hay señales en forma de supuestas casualidades, un mensaje en la TV, algo que nos dice alguien, algo que aparece mágicamente frente a nosotros. Las sincronicidades de la vida son señales, esas cosas que decimos… justo paso esto… no es casualidad era una señal. Solo hay que cerrar los ojos humanos y abrir aquellos que nos permiten ver más allá, y realmente mirar las cosas como un gran rompecabezas. Enfocarse en lo que deseamos o queremos es la clave para ver las señales. Process in pictures - Proceso en imágenes Design process The design was created entirely in Photoshop CS6 without the use of AI, using 11 royalty-free images distributed across 22 layers. First, I created a pink layer onto which I placed the brushstroke image across two layers using soft light and luminosity blending modes, so that the blue colour took on the colour of the background layer. I then worked on the image of the old papers by selecting parts of them, copying and pasting them onto four layers in normal mode, and adding a drop shadow layer style to create a 3D effect and separate them from the background. I then placed part of the two abstract images that look like ocean waves over the design using Darken blending mode and a darker colour, and over them part of the image with black spots using the same blending mode and on two separate layers on either side of the design. I did the same with the image of the lilac and pink squares, but on a single layer. I then added the two images of abstract faces, using the previous blend mode. I selected one eye from each of the faces and a mouth, copied and pasted them, in normal mode. I did the same with the other two eyes and placed them in the centre of the design. I used normal mode and erased the edges with the soft-edged eraser at 0% hardness. Below the last element I placed the wooden sign and on top of it the text with the roses, the latter using the Soft Light blending mode. Finally, I selected part of the image with the coloured diamonds and placed it on a top layer with a drop shadow style, creating shadow peaks, and on several layers of the design I used the Add Edge filter to highlight certain parts of the design. Hice lo mismo con la imagen de los cuadrados lila y rosados, pero en una sola capa. Posteriormente puse las dos imágenes de rostros abstractos, usando la fusión anterior. Seleccioné un ojo de cada uno de los rostros y una boca, copié y pegué, en modo normal. Lo mismo hice con los otros dos ojos y los coloqué en el centro del diseño. Usé modo normal y borré los bordes con el borrador con contornos dureza 0%. Debajo de lo último realizado coloqué el letrero de madera y sobre él el escrito con las rosas, éste último con fusión luz foca, Finalmente seleccioné parte de la imagen que tiene rombos de colores y lo puse en una capa superior con estilo de capa de sombra paralela generando picos de sombras y en varias capas del diseño usé el filtro de bordes añadidos para realzar algunas partes del diseño. La animación está realizada completamente en After Effects, trabajando la opacidad de cada capa y agregando luces en forma de nubes para un mejor contraste. https://3speak.tv/watch?v=avdesing/270cdbe5 A few days ago, memories came flooding back of a time when I was a child, a time I associate mainly with school, but also with moments of solitude. It was a time when we had what we called ‘letter cards’. They were sheets of paper, some lined and others unlined; some came with their own coloured envelope, whilst others were plain white, but they all featured some sort of pattern or design, and there was a huge variety. You could buy them and they came in a bag, all the same, but the girls at school had them too and we could swap them. It was a bit like the sticker-collecting craze, but I think this was just for girls. As I said, the motifs varied; many depicted girls as in a drawing, and there were animals, angels and fantasy scenes. My friend Claudia and I were talking about them a few days ago, and it brought back memories. In this design, and perhaps in another one later on, I wanted to bring back this memory but do it digitally. I loved the experience. SPANISH VERSION (click here!) Hace varios días vinieron a mi mente recuerdos de una época, cuando era niña, que relaciono más con la escuela, pero también con mis momentos de soledad. Una época en que existían los que llamábamos, las hojas de carta. Eran hojas, algunas con renglones y otras no, algunas traían su sobre respectivo de color o a veces era blanco, pero todas tenían algún motivo o diseño y había mucha variedad. Se podían comprar y venían varías en una misma bolsa, todas iguales, pero las niñas en la escuela también tenían de esas cartas y se podían intercambiar. Era como la época de las figuritas, pero creo que esto era sólo para niñas. Como les digo los motivos variaban, muchas representaban a niñas como en un dibujo, había de animales, ángeles, fantasía. Y con mi amiga Claudia las mencionamos hace unos días, me trajo recuerdos. En este diseño y tal vez en algún otro más adelante, quise traer este recuerdo, pero hacerlo digitalmente. Me encantó la experiencia. Process in pictures - Proceso en imágenes Design process The design was created entirely in Photoshop CS6 without the use of AI, using 10 royalty-free images spread across 20 layers. On a white layer, I placed the first watercolour image, over which I added four layers of the lined sheet, in different positions and with a drop shadow layer style to separate them from the background. On top of two of these layers and beneath the other two, I placed the first image of flowers with the darker colour blend, enhancing the outlines with an edge filter. Then, on top of this, I placed the second watercolour image using a soft light blend, and from the image of the green leaves I selected, copied and pasted some of them into the design, placing them on the right-hand side using a darker colour blend. I placed the second image of flowers on the other side of the design, in two layers, using the ‘Darken’ and ‘Normal’ blending modes, but for the latter I left only the part with the flowers. Beneath this image of white flowers, I worked on the two images of the drawings featuring children with cats, using the ‘Darken’ blending mode and erasing certain parts so they matched the edges of the leaves with lines. With the image of the girl, I created two layers using underexpose and normal colour blends. I applied the added edges filter to all of them, as well as to the image of butterflies using the darken blend. The animation is done completely in After Effects, working on the opacity of each layer and adding lights in the form of clouds for better contrast. I send you all a big hello and see you next time. La segunda imagen de flores la coloqué al otro lado del diseño, en dos capas, con fusiones de color más oscuro y normal, pero de esta última dejé sólo la parte de las flores. Debajo de esta imagen de las flores blancas trabajé las dos imágenes de los dibujos donde hay niños con gatos, con la fusión de color más oscuro y borrando ciertas partes para que coincidan con los bordes de las hojas con renglones. Con la imagen de la niña hice dos capas con fusiones de subexponer color y normal. En todas ellas puse el filtro de bordes añadidos, como así también en la imagen de mariposas usando la fusión oscurecer. La animación está realizada completamente en After Effects, trabajando la opacidad de cada capa y agregando luces en forma de nubes para un mejor contraste. https://3speak.tv/watch?v=avdesing/887f0984 Often, something happens in life that gives us a different perspective; it might be something physical or spiritual, a lesson learnt, or a specific event. This design is dedicated to my mother, who recently had cataract surgery on one eye. She’s been short-sighted since she was a child, and back then it was frowned upon for someone to have poor eyesight; she never wore glasses, she just made do as best she could. It wasn’t until she was 32 that she got her first pair of glasses. I can’t imagine what it was like all that time, but she saw as best she could. It wasn’t severe short-sightedness, but she certainly didn’t see clearly. Now, three days after her operation, she is happy; she can see with that eye like never before in her life, different shades of colour, sharp outlines. A new lease of life at 72, and that makes me very happy. Sight is one of the most precious of the senses, and symbolically, visión, a change in vision or perspective, often changes one’s life as well. I like to make that comparison. With the cataract, she could see less and less; she couldn’t even see my face, and now her life is completely different, much better. It’s worth it; no matter what age you are, the change for the better is always worth it, both physically and spiritually. SPANISH VERSION (click here!) Muchas veces pasa algo en la vida que nos da una perspectiva diferente, puede ser algo físico como algo espiritual, un aprendizaje o un hecho puntual. Este diseño va dedicado a mi madre, que recientemente se ha operado de un ojo, de cataratas. Desde niña tiene miopía y en aquellos tiempos se veía mal que alguien viera menos, nunca usó gafas, veía como podía. Recién luego de los 32 años tuvo sus primeras gafas. No imagino como fue todo ese tiempo, pero ella veía como podía. No era extrema miopía, pero seguramente no veía nítido. Ahora luego de tres días de ser operada está feliz, ve con ese ojo como nunca en su vida, distintas gamas de colores, contornos nítidos. Una nueva vida a sus 72 años y me alegra mucho eso. La vista es de los sentidos más valiosos y simbólicamente la visión, el cambio de visión, perspectiva muchas veces también cambia la vida. Me gusta hacer esa comparación. Con la catarata cada vez veía menos, ni si quiera mi rostro y ahora su vida es otra, mucho mejor. Vale la pena, no importa a que edad sea, siempre vale la pena el cambio a mejor tanto en el sentido físico como el espiritual. First, I created a grey layer onto which I placed the abstract image; I duplicated it and rotated it horizontally, creating a mirror image; I merged them and continued working with that merged image, from which I created several layers, using various blending modes such as luminosity, soft light and normal. I then selected several parts, those with relief, cut them out and pasted them, thus generating six more layers, and to these parts I added the drop shadow layer style to separate them from the overall image. Beneath these layers containing the parts, I placed the textured image and used the soft light blending mode; I then added the silhouette and two of the flowers, the latter using the hard light blending mode, and in one corner I placed the image of the camera using the darker colour blending mode. On top of the four circles in the abstract design I placed an eye, and on top of each eye a ring using the spot light blending mode. I worked on the image of the woman, after erasing the background, across four layers using Darker Colour, Spot Light, Normal, and Darker Colour again, placing this final layer on top of the entire design. Finally, between the layers containing the individual parts, I placed the flower petals, and on top of all the design layers, the butterfly. The animation is done completely in After Effects, working on the opacity of each layer and adding lights in the form of clouds for better contrast. I send you all a big hello and see you next time. Proceso del diseño El diseño está realizado completamente en el programa Photoshop CS6 sin uso de IA con 11 imágenes sin derechos de autor distribuidas en 31 capas. Primero cree una capa color gris sobre la que coloqué la imagen del abstracto, la duplique y giré horizontalmente, creando un espejo, las combiné y seguí trabajando con esa imagen combinada de la cual hice varias capas, con diversas fusiones como luminosidad, luz suave, normal y luego seleccioné varias partes, las que tenían relieve, las corté y pegué, generando así seis capas más y a estas partes le agregué el estilo de capa de sombra paralela para separarla de la imagen general. Debajo de estas capas con partes, coloqué la imagen con la textura y usé la fusión de luz suave y luego puse la silueta y dos de las flores, éstas últimas con fusión de luz fuerte y en una esquina puse la imagen de la cámara con la fusión de color más oscuro. Sobre los cuatro círculos del diseño abstracto coloqué un ojo, y encima de cada ojo un anillo con la fusión de luz focal. Trabajé la imagen de la mujer, previo borrado del fondo, en cuatro capas con fusiones de color más oscuro, luz focal, normal y color más oscuro nuevamente, poniendo esta última capa encima de todo el diseño. Finalmente, entre las capas con partes puse los pétalos de flores y sobre todas las capas del diseño la mariposa. La animación está realizada completamente en After Effects, trabajando la opacidad de cada capa y agregando luces en forma de nubes para un mejor contraste.
