Badeye

by Badeye

The Badeye project is a ‘genre-hopping’ songwriting and music production collaboration between Andy Empsall Walker and Scott Slater. It began with a chance meeting at a house party in 2007 and quickly became a partnership based on a mutual love of melody and harmony.Since then, we have enjoyed sharing acoustic versions of our original music at various open mic events, gigs at a range of Worcestershire and Warwickshire venues and local festival performances. We have also been lucky enough to have been supported by BBC Introducing in Hereford and Worcester, who have shown their support with regular air-play of original Badeye material as well as inviting us to perform live last year.We make music that we would like to listen to ourselves and our collective vast musical influences have resulted in a back catalogue of music which crosses various genres and simply cannot be pigeonholed. What we do may or not be your thing but we like to think that we have something for everyone.

  2. Is There Really A Need

This was one of those tracks which came from nowhere. During a creative 'dry' spell, we just started jamming the chorus chord progression and within minutes, Scott had ideas for a vocal melody. Shortly after that, the track was written, recorded, embellished and mastered within a week. We like…

  3. In the clouds

The chorus chord progression of this track appears in its third incarnation here. Originally, these chords formed the basis of a trance track Andy produced back in 1999. The same progression was then re-imagined on piano to create a prelude on a music project Andy worked on whilst studying Music...

  8. Dear Friend

This was a song written following an approach from a film student for music for a short film project about unrequited same sex love, set in the 1960s.

  9. You Don't Love Me Anymore

Exactly what it says on the tin! A song about the end of a relationship. Sometimes fires have to die, if only to allow us to embrace the opportunities that arise from the ashes.

  10. Losing you

Another of our first. This started as a full band track with drums, bass and our trademark layered harmonies etc, but when mixing, we never really were able to produce a final mix we were happy with. So we stripped it back to just piano and Scott's lead vocal vocal.

  11. Give That Back

One of Badeye's earliest. Still a favourite on the Badeye bandwagon and always well received on open mics.

  12. Do you mean it?

An older track this one. The multi-layered nature of the track made it a trickier one to mix in our humble home studio but the time and effort were worth it we feel.

  13. Carly

A more dramatic orchestral song from Badeye.

  14. 5th Avenue

Something a little different from the Badeye bandwagon. Hope you enjoy listening as much as we enjoyed crafting!

  18. Seventh Heaven 1

This is where it all started back in 2007. The first track we worked on collaboratively. It is also where the moniker Badeye originated.

  19. The Witching Hour

This is the first new Badeye track in a while, following a brief sabbatical. Great to be back!

  20. 2nd May

A day in the life of no-one in particular. A 'Penny Lane' for the 'now'...

  21. Overloaded

  22. Happy Ever After

Exactly what it says ont tin!

  23. The Oracle Of Elleri

  24. Trapped

This is an old instrumental electronica track, originally composed in 2003. I gave it a reworking 10 years later, adding vocals.

  25. Atomic love

    Dirty sleezy pop
