Barely Making It

For the last episode, it's just Meg and Duane. We've had fun and thanks for going on this part of the journey with us. The podcast is done, but we're not! One last hang where we talk about the destructive and unpredictible world that we live in. Don't worry we're still smiling and laughing because we're all...Barely Making It.

Today, we are joined by our pal, Mike Favor. Mike shared a story about his sister and we will always think of her whenever someone yells "You don't understand the Black Man's struggle" during a comedy show. We talked about open mics, sleep shitting and professionalism, where Mike really goes above and beyond, though his girlfriends neighbors might not love it. 

Luz stopped by and oh boy, did we have a great time! We talked about how nothing makes sense right now, so if something definitely doesn't make sense, that is the most sene that anything could ever make. So all ideas are ideas and will go on the board until proven otherwise. We talked happier things too, but then brought up the 6 year anniversary of COVID lockdown and the upcoming 25 year anniversary of 9/11. The high point was thinking about how Al Gore is going to save us all one day. Take that however you'd like. Enjoy!

Kristina Kelley came by and we had a fun conversation. We talked about comedy roasts, burgers on Valentines Day, Mistress Dinners, Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century, Xena, landlines and touchtone phones and Pigeons. We learned a lot about pigeons and the next time you want to feed birds bread, rethink your kind thought into food that is better for them. 

29 and feeling fine!!! Mary-Alice McNab joins us and we talk about why it's not fair that there aren't swings for adults, even though we totally get why adults can't use the kid swings, condoms and condiment packets are hard to open, performing stand up in front of our parents, and no sharp objects in the bedroom during sexy time.

We're back in the new year and we're joined by Catherine Geller. It's fully winter and we're talking about liking NY in the winter and/or all the seasons, seasonal depression - is it real? (it is), being judged and judging/not judging others. And Meg shares her feelings about a D-list celebrity, word used lightly. Do you need to be a jerk in order to get ahead? The jury is still out. 

It's the last episode of 2025 and we are happy about that. Meg and Duane talk about books, the PR team for the Bible, Iron Man and teaching old dogs new tricks and perhaps we should do that more oftern. But seriously, when was the last time someone said "hey, want to see the trick i just taught my old dog?". This was a challenging year for everyone and we hope that you ride strong into 2026.  Do your own research, read books - all the books - any book you can get your hand on- and try not to lead with fear or follow those that do. 

This episode takes us all over the place. We have America's favorite traitor, Mike Favor on the show telling us his most definitely not popular opinions. Taylor Swift is mentioned a lot, as is Boston and Philly.  And he might have found a bipartisan issue. 

Jon has been a guest on Barely Making It, possibly in every form it has taken and now he's on the podcast. Our conversations were all over the place, like always. On this episode we talked about Thanksgiving sides, the traditional vs experimental food, leftovers, Bill & Ted, Meghan does not look like a douche with her sunglasses on inside, compliments from strangers and the classic PSA "It's 10 o'clock, do you know where your children are?". This might be the least doomsday sounding episode we have ever done. Enjoy the moment. 

Oh boy! Did we have fun this episode. Patricia Yeazell came by and we talked about a lot of things that come with a warning sign. In no particular order, Murder, Pube Panties, Relationships that End in Murder Instead of Divorce, Full Bush, Thanksgiving, Kim K's Sex Tape, Candyman. A lot of moments that will stay with us forever. 

We had a real treat of a conversation today with Rocky Powell. We jumped around from meditation to betting against your own team because you love them to Bea Arthur, naturally and then threw in some childhood trauma at the end. Balance. 

Today we talked about why bad things happening to comedians isn't always bad, it's material! Skits and why it's sooooooo great when our friends and lovers tell us we can "use this". Witchcraft comes up and so does cultural differences, coastal differences and Tinkerbell, the dog. Yay!!!

One of our favorites stopped by, Comedian and Actor, Marla Schultz. We talked about the Gen Z stare, how the dating rules are dead and so is civility. And we continue our important discussion about how the Jardiance commercial gets stuck in your head and what is really happening in those towns. 

Part 2 with Tom Kelly

Comedian Tom Kelly stops by and we try to keep it light but you know that didn't last long. It's a disease we have but that's why we journal and so should you. 

It's Duane and Meg today talking again about dark stuff with an upbeat attitude. Bunkers were mentioned. The new survival kit and what goes in it. Oars? And it turns out that Cancers just like to go for long walks outside on their birthday to think about everything they can possibly think about at that moment. And are we emotional or is it the humidity? 

Actor, Comedian, Writer, Tarot Reader, Somatic Therapist, Podcaster Lyssa Mandel joins us this week and we discuss Tiny Hats, the downfall of society and rise of humanity, Saved by the Bell, the comment section and countdown clocks. 

John Brecko and Johnny Sharp share one thing in common, a body. They join us this week and we chat about Wrestling and the clear cut path from stand up to commentator. 

We are so excited to welcome back Vannessa Jackson to Barely Making It!!! And so naturally we talked about predators and boy, did we laugh. 

This episode was tariff free with our friend from Toronto, comedian Kelly Zemnickis. Between our combined forces of paranoia, depression, anxiety, and many, many, phobias, a new crime fighting team has reluctantly been formed. Does that make sense? Does anything on this show make sense? Never has, never will. 

Comedian, Malachi Fox joins us and we laughed a lot. 

Lucky episode 13 with Barely Making It favorite, Luz Michelle. We talk about death a lot in this one. And sinkholes! An idea being thrown around was that we are born in a ditch and then die in one. Think on that, while you listen. 

Justin Davis joins us with his thoughts on Long Island, Staten Island and Florida. Will he do it? Will he move to Florida or stay trapped in NYC for what feels like an eternity? People say they can escape, but can they? 

This week we have Adrian Ashby on and we talk Hallmark, after death and what the future of our televisions look like.
