As we look at our text for today we see that Yahweh does not give mercy to everyone. This maybe hard to accept but Yahweh is sovereign in his mercy and he gives it and withholds it as he wills.

This text shows us that being true Israel is not about ethnicity but about promise. Two sons in the same womb but one is chosen and one is rejected, before they were ever born.

This is a very important verse in understanding who is the Israel of God. In his first use of the term Israel in Romans Paul teaches that there are two Israels.

For the next several weeks we are going to be looking at Romans 9. This chapter is one of the strongest texts on the Sovereignty of God and also one of the clearest texts on explaining who is the Israel of God.

What does God expect from His people? What should be our priority in dealing with other people? How many Christians do you know that are truly sold out for Yahweh?

This morning we are going to be talking about what it means to call on Yahweh and what is our responsibility in sharing the Gospel.

We've been talking a lot about Yahweh's sovereignty for the last couple of weeks how does our sin fit in the plan? What happens when believers sin? We know that our salvation is secure so does it matter if we sin?

Most believers would affirm that Yahweh is sovereign but would deny His sovereignty over every event that happens in time. Either Yahweh is sovereign over everything or He is not sovereign.

We talked last week about "the given" which had to do with those the Father has given to the Son as a love gift. This refers to the elect, which raised the question: How does a person know if they're part of the elect?

Over and over the Bible calls believers "the given." This is because the Father has given the elect to the Son as a love gift.

We will be looking at the Sabbath and the believers relationship to it. Is the Sabbath on Saturday or was it changed to Sunday?
