Best Days

On 13th June 2024 Damien Dempsey along with Eamonn deBarra visited Holy Trinity for what would be a memorable day of music, story telling and fun. Damien dropped into room 7 to speak with Grace about his time at school and his life as a musician. Listen out for a moving rendition of a classic Irish song by Hannah at the end. Enjoy! At the beginning of the summer Bill O'Brien popped into the school to share some memories with us. The children did a great job of putting this show together so we hope you all enjoy it. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Emily welcomed Olive into our room 7 studio this week for a chat about her days at school and her involvement with Holy Trinity over the years. Thanks to all the children in fifth and sixth class for their help with this week's show. Enjoy! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

To celebrate our school turning 50 we put together a short history of the school and of course Donaghmede, the area we call home. Thank you to all the children and especially our musicians for their lovely work on the soundtrack to the show. Stay tuned for upcoming interviews on the show with Olive McGuinness and Bill O'Brien. Enjoy! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

This week Emily welcomes lollipop lady extraordinaire Ger McGuinness in for a chat. Thank you to Daniel, Mia and Alanna for their wonderful contributions to the show. Have a happy Christmas everyone! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

On this week's show Killian welcomes our former Principal and the unmistakable voice of Croke Park, Mr. Jerry Grogan to room 7 for a chat about his days at primary school. This episode was also featured on an episode of RTE's news show News2Day. Thank you to Emily and Kate for their reading at the end and to Ms Fogarty's live studio audience; we really enjoyed speaking with Jerry and hope you enjoy the episode! Hosted on Acast. This week Julia got the chance to speak with our school caretaker Larry about his time at primary school. A big thank you to Ruby for her intro and Blanka, Kate, Sarah and Emily for their interpretation of 'If I had a Hammer' (a song Larry was supposed to perform at his school play but an attack of stage fright put a stop to it). Enjoy! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

This week Conor chats with Bernie and Ann about their time in Scoil Chaitriona, Coolock. Bernie realises that she may not have been as well behaved as she'd remembered while Ann refuses to divulge the details of a serious confession (apparently it involved a fire truck). Thanks to Panka for the super introduction and to Kate, Emily and Sarah for the wonderful musical contribution. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

This week, Erin interviews Mr. Paddy Began in room 7. Paddy is well known here at the school for his voluntary work in our gardens. Now enjoying semi-retirement, Paddy spent much of his life working in the building trade; his love for sport, particularly football, is evident throughout the conversation and his recollections from a childhood during the 1960s in Dublin are uniquely captured in this interview. Thank you to Alfie for the introduction and Sarah, Emily and Kate for their musical input during the production of this episode. We wish you all a happy and safe Christmas and look forward to putting out some more shows in the new year. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

For our second show, Alex speaks with Mrs Free and Mrs Bridgeman about their time at primary schools in Donneycarney and Bathgate, Scotland. Our musical guests this week are Sarah and Kate and the show is introduced by Blanka. We hope you enjoy listening. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Aisling and Ryan interview former Dublin football star and current school principal David Henry. This episode features some music from Maci, Kate and Emily and also the sound of busy builders attempting to finish our extension before the winter takes hold. Thanks to Alfie for the super introduction and look out for us on twitter. The show is called Best Days (David gets the name wrong at the beginning but we'll forgive him). Enjoy! Hosted on Acast.
