It finally happened!  Baseball Heaven in Iowa!  The 1989 classic film 'Field of Dreams' inspired a generation, so much so that MLB wanted to be there to have current players and teams play in Dyersville.  Come 2021, it became a reality with the Chicago White Sox facing the New York Yankees.  Jay Dawg looks back at this classic! 

The man they called 'El Intocable' made his Chicago White Sox debut in 1991.  And what did Wilson Alvarez do on a hot summer day in Baltimore?  He made history, by becoming the first Venezuelan-born pitcher in the Majors to toss a no-hitter.  It's the White Sox taking on the Orioles.  Jay Dawg looks back on this one! 

A baseball strike couldn't dampen the mood of the 1981 MLB All-Star Game in Cleveland.  Played in August of 1981, a record attendance, and some all-time greats played in this one.  Jay Dawg looks back on the final ASG on The Playback in 2026.

A guy that actually follows Jay Dawg on X, pitches a no-no against Dawg's favorite team.  Summer of 2011 was the time, as the Los Angeles Angels were in Cleveland.

For 'Jay Dawg's Boxing Bout of the Month' for July 2026, it's a controversial one. Thirty years ago in 1996, Riddick 'Big Daddy' Bowe took on Andrew Golota in Bowe's homestate of New York.  What happened after that, you gotta hear to believe!

All-Star Month in July continues on The Playback.  In this edition, it's the 1991 MLB All-Star Game, which was Toronto.  Jay Dawg was a kid back then, so he talks about that and a lot more. 

In this edition, it's the 2006 MLB All-Star Game, which was in Pittsburgh for the first time since 1994.  PNC Park was the site of this one twenty years ago. 

Jay Dawg looks back on the 2001 MLB All-Star Game, as some old legends were winding down, some new ones on the come-up.  Seattle was the site for this one, as Dawg looks fondly on. 

More baseball in July 2026 on The Playback!  Wouldn't be great without the great Derek Jeter and his 3,000th hit game from 2011 to start off baseball this month on the podcast, would it? Jay Dawg looks back on this one, as the Tampa Bay Rays faced the New York Yankees in The Bronx.

To celebrate Bret 'The Hitman' Hart's 69th Birthday, Jay Dawg decided to look back on Hart's WCW in-ring debut, as The Hitman took on 'Nature Boy' Ric Flair at WCW 'Souled Out' from 1998.

It came down to a coin toss to decide this one for 'Jay Dawg's Boxing Bout' for June 2026.  Roberto Duran, on his comeback in 1981, took on Luigi Minchillo, known as 'The Italian Warrior' in his American debut.  Jay Dawg looks back on this Super Welterweight fight, which took place outdoors in Las Vegas in late September of '81. 

We've reached 100 editions of The Playback!  In this edition, it's 'Jay Dawg's Wrestling Match of the Month' for June 2026.  WWE World Heavyweight Champ Roman Reigns took on his former Shield brother in Seth Rollins at WWE Money In The Bank 2016. 

It was in 1998 than Mankind took a leap that nobody else was willing to; get thrown almost 20 feet off a cage!  He did that against his nemesis, The Undertaker at King of the Ring in the Hell In A Cell match.  Jay Dawg looks back at this iconic WWE match. 

It's all about the future in this edition.  WNBA, MLB, NHL, NBA, World Cup and NFL. WNBA and MLB rankings as well.  Time to go back....to the future! 

Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals was going to crown a first-time champ in the Association.  Would it be the Indiana Pacers, who nobody expected?  Or would it be the Oklahoma City Thunder?  Jay Dawg looks back at this one. 

The last Stanley Cup Final game on The Playback in 2026.  What a Game it is.  Game 7 of the 2006 Stanley Cup Final, as the Edmonton Oilers (who were the 8th seed) took on the mighty Carolina Hurricanes in North Carolina. 

The Dad's Day 2026 edition has quite a lot to discuss-like the aftermath of the 2026 NBA Finals, the 2026 Stanley Cup Final, upcoming NBA Draft, NASCAR is Cali, Doc from Frank FM and The Bone with a US Open update in Golf, WNBA and MLB rankings with slates! 

In one of the greatest games of the not just the 21st Century, but all time, it's Game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals.  The Cleveland Cavaliers look to win the first title in franchise history, the Golden State Warriors had 73 regular season wins, and look to top the 1996 Bulls 72 wins and a title.  Jay Dawg looks back fondly on this one. 

A milestone edition of The Playback, as The Mechanic, Don Sutton looks to win his 300th career Major League game.  His Angels hosted the Texas Rangers in SoCal back in late June of 1986.  Jay Dawg looks back. 

It's the 1990's so you know what that means; the Chicago Bulls are going to announce their presence with authority.  The Seattle SuperSonics (who are coming back to the NBA in 2028), faced Da Bulls in the 1996 NBA Finals.  It's Game 6, as Jay Dawg looks back, as he was in his first year as a teenager then. 

Another Game 7 on The Playback.  This time, it's the 2011 Stanley Cup Final, as the Boston Bruins took on the Vancouver Canucks in The Couve.  Jay Dawg was in his late 20's when this one was played.  He looks back on this classic. 

The Pittsburgh Penguins look to hoist the Stanley Cup for a fourth time in franchise history. In the way-the San Jose Sharks, who in 25 seasons are in the Stanley Cup Final for the first time in franchise history.  Jay Dawg looks back on Game 6 of the 2016 Stanley Cup Final. 

The World Cup edition of Bet THIS! along with the United Cup for the UFL, WNBA rankings, MLB rankings and slate, UFC Freedom 250, NASCAR in the Poconos, NBA Finals and Stanley Cup Final. 

A new era in the NBA heading into the 1990's, as the Chicago Bulls made the debut trip to the NBA Finals, taking on a legacy franchise in the Los Angeles Lakers. It's Game 5 of the 1991 NBA Finals from Inglewood, California. Jay Dawg looks back on this one. 

The New Jersey Devils were looking to repeat as Cup champs; in the way was the Colorado Avalanche, with Ray Bourque looking to win his first Stanley Cup in his accomplished 22-year career. Jay Dawg looks back fondly on this classic, the first Game 7 in hockey on The Playback! 

The 1986 Boston Celtics are called by some as the greatest team to ever step foot on a basketball court, but they needed to prove that in Game 6 of the 1986 NBA Finals against a tough Houston Rockets team with the original twin towers (Akeem Olajuwon and Ralph Sampson). Can the C's bring title #16 to the Garden? Jay Dawg looks back on this classic.

Jay Dawg's Boxing Bout of the Month for May 2026 is More Than Personal!  Roy Jones Jr. puts his titles on the line against 'The Magic Man' Antonio Tarver in the second of three fights they had.  From 2004. 

Jay Dawg's Wrestling Match of the Month for May 2026 is WWE WHC CM Punk taking on Batista at the Great American Bash from 2008. 

In this edition, it's all about the ladies...for hoops, that is. WNBA is back.  Plus, futures on the 30th season of the Dub, PGA Championship preview with Doc from Frank FM and The Bone, also MLB and MLS rankings and weekend slate, UFL picks, NBA Playoffs, Stanley Cup Playoffs and NFL Sked outlook. 

For one night in 1981, Len Barker and the city of Cleveland were perfect!  Cleveland hosted the Toronto Blue Jays in front of less than 10,000 folks in The Land.  At press time, the last no-hitter thrown by a Cleveland pitcher. 

It's Game 6 of the 1981 NBA Finals, as the Boston Celtics took on the Houston Rockets, as The Playback brings NBA Hoops into the fold.  More games to come in June.  Enjoy!
