237 | Why Training Isn’t Where to Start With a Fearful Dog
Hey Dog Lover 🐾If you have a fearful dog, chances are you've been told you need to build their confidence.More training. More exposure. More experiences. More opportunities to successfully accomplish things.Because training builds confidence, right?Well... maybe.But when I'm working with a fearful dog, confidence actually isn't where I start.Because before I want your dog to believe:“I've got this.”I want them to believe:“You've got me.”And that changes where we begin.Instead of focusing immediately on changing the dog, I focus on building trust between the dog and the person standing beside them.The progression I teach inside the Fearless Framework is simple:Trust you.Trust the situations you put them in.Trust themselves.And that last piece?That's where confidence comes from.In this episode, we're talking about why confidence may actually be the LAST thing we build with a fearful dog and why the relationship comes first.We'll talk about:🐾 Why I don't start by trying to make a fearful dog more confident 🐾 Whether dog training really does “build confidence” 🐾 The difference between being confident at doing things and feeling confident navigating the world 🐾 Why trust in YOU comes before trust in themselves 🐾 How your dog learns to trust the situations you put them in 🐾 What it means for your dog to “borrow” your confidence 🐾 Why successful experiences eventually allow your dog to need you less 🐾 How trust becomes the bridge to independenceBecause confidence isn't necessarily the thing we're working on.We're building trust. We're building communication. We're creating experiences that show your dog they can successfully navigate the world with you.And eventually...“You've got me” becomes “I've got this.”That's where confidence comes from.Hope you enjoy this one!Tracy xoxoxRESOURCES🐾 Join the Online Program Fearless Framework!https://beyondobedience.ca/fearless🐾 Take the Quiz!https://www.beyondobedience.ca/quiz🐾 Read the Blog!https://beyondobedience.ca/blogCONNECT WITH ME!Contact → [email protected] → https://beyondobedience.ca/podcastConnect → https://facebook.com/groups/LivingBeyondObedienceResources → https://www.beyondobedience.ca/quizMerch → https://www.beyondobedience.ca/store🐾 NEXT STEPS 👣Step 1: Join the free Living Beyond Obedience community and connect with other dog owners who are learning to lead through trust, relevance, and understanding.https://facebook.com/groups/LivingBeyondObedienceStep 2: Why is my dog behaving that way?? 236 | Are You Training Your Dog… or Just Performing Dog Training?
Hey Dog Lover 🐾Have you ever learned a dog training technique, tried it with your dog exactly the way you were taught...and it didn't work?Maybe the problem isn't the technique.Maybe somewhere along the way, we've become so focused on doing dog training correctly that we've forgotten to pay attention to the dog standing in front of us.Where should my hands be?When do I say the word?When do I reward?What am I supposed to do next?And while we're busy trying to remember all the steps, our dog may be communicating an enormous amount of information that we're completely missing.So here's a question worth asking:Are you actually communicating with your dog... or are you performing dog training?In this episode, we're talking about what happens when we become so focused on techniques, protocols and doing things “right” that we lose the conversation we're supposed to be having with our dogs.We'll talk about:🐾 What I mean by “performing dog training” 🐾 Why doing all the right steps doesn't necessarily mean you're communicating 🐾 How easy it is to become focused on the technique instead of the dog 🐾 Why understanding the WHY behind an exercise matters more than simply following the steps 🐾 How going through the motions can completely change the meaning of an interaction 🐾 Why protocols should help you understand the conversation, not replace it 🐾 What your dog may be communicating while you're busy trying to do everything correctly 🐾 Why good dog training may eventually start looking a whole lot less like dog trainingBecause I don't want you memorizing what I would do.I want you to understand why you're doing it.The goal isn't for you to spend the rest of your dog's life wondering:“What would Tracy do?”It's for you to understand your dog well enough to know:“What does my dog need from me right now?”That's the difference between performing a technique and actually participating in the conversation.Hope you enjoy this one!Tracy xoxoxRESOURCES🐾 Join the Online Program Fearless Framework!https://beyondobedience.ca/fearless🐾 Take the Quiz!https://www.beyondobedience.ca/quiz🐾 Read the Blog!https://beyondobedience.ca/blogCONNECT WITH ME!Contact → [email protected] → https://beyondobedience.ca/podcastConnect → https://facebook.com/groups/LivingBeyondObedienceResources → https://www.beyondobedience.ca/quizMerch → https://www.beyondobedience.ca/store🐾 NEXT STEPS 👣Step 1: Join the free Living Beyond Obedience community and connect with other dog owners who are learning to lead through trust, relevance, and understanding.https://facebook.com/groups/LivingBeyondObedienceStep 2: Why is my dog behaving that way?? 235 | Stop Telling Your Dog “No” Until You’ve Done This
Hey Dog Lover 🐾How often do you find yourself telling your dog:“No barking.”“No.”“Stop.”“Enough.”And then getting frustrated when they keep doing exactly what you just told them not to do?Here’s the question I want you to ask:Before you told your dog “no,” did you actually tell them what you wanted them to do instead?This came up during one of our recent Fearless Framework coaching calls, and it sparked a really interesting conversation about what communication with our dogs actually looks like.Because when your dog suddenly starts barking, they’re responding to something.They heard something. They saw something. They smelled something.And just because you don’t see anything doesn’t mean there’s nothing there.So rather than immediately trying to shut down the behaviour, what happens if we first acknowledge what our dog is telling us and then give them some direction about what we’d like them to do next?In this episode, we’re talking about why “no” means very little without communication and how to turn those frustrating moments into an actual conversation with your dog.We'll talk about:🐾 Why “no” by itself doesn’t tell your dog what you want them to do 🐾 Why your dog may be completely right when they alert you to something you can’t see 🐾 The difference between acknowledging your dog and agreeing that something is a problem 🐾 Why saying “thank you” isn’t simply another technique for stopping barking 🐾 What needs to happen before “no” becomes meaningful 🐾 Why you need to ask for something your dog already understands 🐾 The difference between correcting behaviour and having a conversation 🐾 How clear communication can change the way you respond when your dog gets something wrongBecause communication isn't just about telling your dog what not to do.It's about listening to what they're telling you and then helping them understand what you want them to do next.So before you tell your dog:“No.”Ask yourself:“Have I actually told them what I want instead?”That’s when it becomes a conversation.Hope you enjoy this one!Tracy xoxoxRESOURCES🐾 Join the Online Program Fearless Framework!https://beyondobedience.ca/fearless🐾 Take the Quiz!https://www.beyondobedience.ca/quiz🐾 Read the Blog!https://beyondobedience.ca/blogCONNECT WITH ME!Contact → [email protected] → https://beyondobedience.ca/podcastConnect → https://facebook.com/groups/LivingBeyondObedienceResources → https://www.beyondobedience.ca/quizMerch → https://www.beyondobedience.ca/store🐾 NEXT STEPS 👣Step 1: Join the free Living Beyond Obedience community and connect with other dog owners who are learning to lead through trust, relevance, and understanding.https://facebook.com/groups/LivingBeyondObedienceStep 2: Why is my dog behaving that way?? 234 | Why Should Your Dog Trust Your Decisions? What Leadership Actually Means
Hey Dog Lover 🐾We ask our dogs to trust our decisions all the time.Come with me.Leave that.Don’t go over there.Walk past this dog.Stay here.I’ve got it.But have you ever stopped to ask:Why should they?Not because we’re the human. Not because we own them. And not simply because we’re holding the leash.In this episode, we’re talking about Leadership, the final piece of my Foundation of Relationship.And not leadership as dominance, control, or “because I said so.”Leadership as something built through a history of experiences that gives your dog a reason to believe your decisions are worth following.We’ll talk about:🐾 Why you don’t get to simply declare yourself your dog’s leader🐾 How dogs build trust through their everyday experiences with us🐾 Why healthy relationships include both agreement AND disagreement🐾 How saying yes to your dog can give more meaning to your no🐾 What “he who moves whose feet” can teach us about influence and awareness🐾 The importance of pausing before automatically responding to your dog🐾 Why leadership is about controlling yourself and influencing your dog, not controlling your dog🐾 Why getting a decision wrong doesn’t mean you’ve failed your dog🐾 How Leadership, Relevance, and Fulfillment work together to build a stronger relationshipBecause leadership isn’t:“My dog has to follow me.”It’s becoming:Someone worth following.So instead of asking:“How do I get my dog to follow me?”Maybe the better question is:“Who do I need to become so that following me makes sense?”Hope you enjoy this one!Tracy xoxoxRESOURCES🐾 Join the Online Program Fearless Framework!https://beyondobedience.ca/fearless🐾 Take the Quiz!https://www.beyondobedience.ca/quiz🐾 Read the Blog!https://beyondobedience.ca/blogCONNECT WITH ME!Contact → [email protected] → https://beyondobedience.ca/podcastConnect → https://facebook.com/groups/LivingBeyondObedienceResources → https://www.beyondobedience.ca/quizMerch → https://www.beyondobedience.ca/store🐾 NEXT STEPS 👣Step 1: Join the free Living Beyond Obedience community and connect with other dog owners who are learning to lead through trust, relevance, and understanding.Step 2: Take the Dogonality Quiz to discover how your dog's unique personality shapes the way they learn, communicate, and respond to leadership.👉 https://www.beyondobedience.ca/quizStep 3: Ready to stop second-guessing yourself and start understanding what your dog actually needs from you? 233 | Want to Matter More to Your Dog? Step Into Their World
Hey Dog Lover 🐾We spend a LOT of time trying to get our dogs to pay attention to us.Look at me.Come with me.Leave that.Let’s go.But how much attention are we paying to them?In this episode, we’re talking about Relevance, one of the three pieces of my Foundation of Relationship, and what it actually means to become relevant to your dog.Because relevance isn’t simply about getting your dog’s attention.It’s about whether you matter to your dog’s experience of the world.And maybe if we want our dogs to care about what matters to us, we need to start by genuinely caring about some of the things that matter to them.We’ll talk about:🐾 What it actually means to become relevant to your dog🐾 Why attention and relevance aren’t necessarily the same thing🐾 Why understanding your dog starts with seeing the world from their point of view🐾 What a walk in the woods taught me about entering a dog’s world🐾 Why the “same walk” may be completely different to your dog every single day🐾 How slowing down and getting curious can change the way you experience walks together🐾 Why relevance isn’t about becoming more exciting than the environment🐾 How shared experiences can help build connection, trust, and a stronger relationship with your dogBecause relationship can’t always be:“Come into my world.”Sometimes we need to say:“Show me yours.”The next time your dog becomes fascinated by something, and it’s safe to do so, stop for a second.Look.Get curious.What are they experiencing that you’re missing?Hope you enjoy this one!Tracy xoxoxRESOURCES🐾 Join the Online Program Fearless Framework!https://beyondobedience.ca/fearless🐾 Take the Quiz!https://www.beyondobedience.ca/quiz🐾 Read the Blog!https://beyondobedience.ca/blogCONNECT WITH ME!Contact → [email protected] → https://beyondobedience.ca/podcastConnect → https://facebook.com/groups/LivingBeyondObedienceResources → https://www.beyondobedience.ca/quizMerch → https://www.beyondobedience.ca/store🐾 NEXT STEPS 👣Step 1: Join the free Living Beyond Obedience community and connect with other dog owners who are learning to lead through trust, relevance, and understanding.Step 2: Why is my dog acting like this? 232 | Are You Doing Too Much for Your Dog? When Enrichment Becomes Another Job
Hey Dog Lover 🐾Does your dog need more enrichment?More mental stimulation? More exercise? More games? More training?If you've ever worried that you're not doing enough to meet your dog's needs, this episode is for you.Somewhere along the way, I think we've started confusing enrichment with fulfillment. And they're not necessarily the same thing.We've been told our dogs need puzzle toys, scent games, training games, lick mats, snuffle mats and endless mental stimulation. But those are simply tools we've created to give dogs opportunities to engage in behaviours that may matter to them.So instead of asking:"What else should I be doing for my dog?"Maybe we need to ask:"What actually fulfills the dog standing in front of me?"In this episode, we're talking about what fulfillment really means and why meeting your dog's needs may be much simpler than we've made it.We'll talk about:🐾 The difference between enrichment and fulfillment🐾 Why keeping your dog busy doesn't necessarily mean they're fulfilled🐾 How dog enrichment became another giant list of things we're supposed to do🐾 Why breed and natural behaviour can give us clues about what our dogs actually need🐾 Why nature may provide more mental stimulation than any puzzle toy ever could🐾 How to notice what your dog already finds meaningful🐾 Why fulfillment doesn't mean making your entire life about your dog🐾 How to become part of the things your dog naturally loves to doBecause fulfillment isn't about how much you do.It's about understanding the dog in front of you.Hope you enjoy this one!Tracy xoxoxRESOURCES🐾 Join the Online Program Fearless Framework!https://beyondobedience.ca/fearless🐾 Take the Quiz!https://www.beyondobedience.ca/quiz🐾 Read the Blog!https://beyondobedience.ca/blogCONNECT WITH ME!Contact → [email protected] → https://beyondobedience.ca/podcastConnect → https://facebook.com/groups/LivingBeyondObedienceResources → https://www.beyondobedience.ca/quizMerch → https://www.beyondobedience.ca/store🐾 NEXT STEPS 👣Step 1: Join the free Living Beyond Obedience community and connect with other dog owners who are learning to lead through trust, relevance, and understanding.Step 2: Why is my dog behaving that way?? 231 | Is Your Dog Mirroring YOU? What Their Behaviour Might Be Trying to Tell You
Hey Dog Lover 🐾What if some of the behaviour that's driving you crazy isn't just about your dog?What if your dog is actually reflecting something back to you?Maybe they're suddenly more reactive.Maybe they're barking more.Maybe they can't seem to settle.Maybe something that was getting better suddenly feels worse again.And you're looking at your dog thinking...What is going on with you?!But what if there's another question worth asking?What's going on with ME?Our dogs don't live in a vacuum. They live in relationship with us, and they're incredibly sensitive to the changes happening in the humans around them.They don't need to understand WHY you're stressed, frustrated, overwhelmed, angry, or going through a difficult time.They simply know something has changed.And sometimes their behaviour reflects that change right back to us.In this episode, we're talking about what happens when your dog's behaviour becomes a mirror and why looking at the whole picture can completely change the way you understand what's happening.We'll talk about:🐾 Why your dog's behaviour isn't always just about your dog🐾 How dogs detect changes happening in the humans around them🐾 What I mean when I say dogs can "smell our thoughts"🐾 How incongruence in us can create uncertainty for our dogs🐾 The feedback loop that can develop between a struggling dog and a frustrated human🐾 A pattern I've seen repeatedly over the years while working with dogs and their people🐾 Why this conversation is NOT about blaming yourself for your dog's behaviour🐾 Why being emotionally stable doesn't mean never having emotions🐾 Three questions to ask when your dog's behaviour suddenly changesBecause being part of the picture doesn't make you the problem.It means you have influence.And sometimes we're waiting for our dog to change so WE can feel better...while our dog may be waiting for something to change in US so they can feel better.So before you immediately ask:"How do I stop this behaviour?"Get curious.What's happening with my dog?What's happening with me?What's happening between us?No judgment.No blame.Just...How interesting.Hope you enjoy this one!Tracy xoxoxRESOURCES🐾 Join the Online Program Fearless Framework!https://beyondobedience.ca/fearless🐾 Take the Quiz!https://www.beyondobedience.ca/quiz🐾 Read the Blog!https://beyondobedience.ca/blogCONNECT WITH ME!Contact → [email protected] → https://beyondobedience.ca/podcastConnect → https://facebook.com/groups/LivingBeyondObedienceResources → https://www.beyondobedience.ca/quizMerch → https://www.beyondobedience.ca/store🐾 NEXT STEPS 👣Step 1: Join the free Living Beyond Obedience community and connect with other dog owners who are learning to lead through trust, relevance, and understanding.Step 2: Take the Dogonality Quiz to discover how your dog's unique personality shapes the way they learn, communicate, and respond to leadership.👉 https://www.beyondobedience.ca/quizStep 3: Ready to understand what's happening underneath your dog's behaviour and become the partner they can actually trust? 230 | Too Much Dog Training Advice? Why It's Making You Second-Guess Yourself
Hey Dog Lover 🐾Have you ever found yourself wondering...Am I doing this wrong?Should I let my dog approach?Should I create more space?Should I say something?Should I let them figure it out?Did I wait too long?Am I making this worse?And before you know it, you're having an entire committee meeting inside your head while your dog is standing there waiting for you to make a decision.If that sounds familiar, you're not alone.The dog training world is FULL of advice about what you should—and absolutely should NOT—do with your dog.Do this.Never do that.Give them more choice.Give them more structure.Use this tool.Never use that tool.And somewhere in all that noise, we've become so afraid of getting it wrong that we've stopped paying attention to the most important source of information we have:The dog standing right in front of us.In this episode, we're talking about analysis paralysis, second-guessing yourself, and what good leadership actually looks like when you genuinely don't know what to do.We'll talk about:🐾 Why so much dog training advice can leave you afraid of making the "wrong" decision🐾 How trying to follow all the rules can stop you from actually listening to your dog🐾 Why good leadership doesn't require you to have all the answers🐾 The power of saying, "I don't know YET"🐾 My simple Notice → Decide → Observe → Adjust process🐾 How "How Interesting!" can help you stop judging yourself when something doesn't work🐾 Why getting it wrong sometimes is actually part of figuring out what your dog needs🐾 The difference between knowing what to do and trusting yourself to figure out what to do nextBecause confidence isn't:"I always know what to do."It's:"I trust myself to figure out what to do next."Your dog doesn't need you to be perfect.They need you to pay attention, make a decision, notice what happens, and be willing to change course when something isn't working.So the next time you catch yourself thinking..."I don't know what I'm supposed to do!"Try asking yourself:"What do I know right now?"Start there.Hope you enjoy this one!Tracy xoxoxRESOURCES🐾 Join the Online Program Fearless Framework!https://beyondobedience.ca/fearless🐾 Take the Quiz!https://www.beyondobedience.ca/quiz🐾 Read the Blog!https://beyondobedience.ca/blogCONNECT WITH ME!Contact → [email protected] → https://beyondobedience.ca/podcastConnect → https://facebook.com/groups/LivingBeyondObedienceResources → https://www.beyondobedience.ca/quizMerch → https://www.beyondobedience.ca/store🐾 NEXT STEPS 👣Step 1: Join the free Living Beyond Obedience community and connect with other dog owners who are learning to lead through trust, relevance, and understanding.Step 2: Take the Dogonality Quiz to discover how your dog's unique personality shapes the way they learn, communicate, and respond to leadership.👉 https://www.beyondobedience.ca/quizStep 3: Ready to stop second-guessing yourself and start understanding what your dog actually needs from you? 229 | What Is Your Dog Learning About YOU? The Tiny Moments That Build (or Break) Trust
Hey Dog Lover 🐾Every single day, your dog is learning something about you.Not because you're training them.Not because you've set aside ten minutes to work on your relationship.They're learning about you in hundreds of tiny moments throughout the day.When something unexpected happens, what happens when they're with you?When they're unsure?When they're excited, frustrated, or overwhelmed?Because over time, all of those little experiences start answering a much bigger question for your dog:What can I expect from this person when I don't know what to do?In this episode, we're continuing our conversation about leadership and looking at what it actually means to become someone your dog can rely on.Because your dog isn't the only one you're learning about.Your dog is learning YOU, too.We'll talk about:🐾 Why your relationship is being built in hundreds of tiny everyday moments🐾 What your dog may be learning from you when something unexpected happens🐾 How our own reactions can become part of what our dogs learn to expect🐾 Why predictable doesn't mean you have to respond the same way every time🐾 Why being calm ALL the time isn't the goal🐾 The importance of contrast and my "I-mean-it voice"🐾 Why clarity matters more than perfection🐾 One simple question you can ask when your dog isn't sure what to doBecause leadership isn't something you declare.It's something your dog experiences.And every interaction gives you another opportunity to show your dog:You don't have to figure everything out alone. 228 | Stop Trying to Be the Boss! What Leadership Really Means to Your Dog
Hey Dog Lover 🐾When you hear the word leadership, what comes to mind?Do you picture someone who's always in charge?Have you ever worried that becoming a "leader" means being controlling or acting like the boss?If so, you're not alone.Leadership has become one of the most misunderstood words in the dog world. Somewhere along the way, it became associated with power, control, and making your dog do what you say.But that's never been what leadership has meant to me.In this episode, I'm sharing why I believe leadership is really about guidance, partnership, and knowing when to step forward—and just as importantly, when to step back. Because building trust with your dog isn't about proving who's in charge. It's about becoming someone your dog can rely on.We'll talk about:🐾 Why leadership gets such a bad reputation in dog training🐾 How redefining leadership can transform your relationship with your dog🐾 Why fearful and confident dogs both need guidance—but for different reasons🐾 The difference between leading with control and leading with trust🐾 Why great leadership isn't about always having the answers🐾 A story from the woods that completely changed the way I think about leadershipWe'll also explore:leadershiptrustpartnershipcommunicationconfidencecuriosityand why sometimes the best way to lead your dog... is knowing when to let them lead you.Because leadership isn't about being the boss.It's about building a partnership where each of you brings your strengths to the relationship.Hope you enjoy this one!Tracy xoxoxRESOURCES🐾 Join the Online Program Fearless Framework!https://beyondobedience.ca/fearless🐾 Take the Quiz!https://www.beyondobedience.ca/quiz🐾 Read the Blog!https://beyondobedience.ca/blogCONNECT WITH ME!Contact → [email protected]Podcast → https://beyondobedience.ca/podcastConnect → https://facebook.com/groups/LivingBeyondObedienceResources → https://www.beyondobedience.ca/quizMerch → https://www.beyondobedience.ca/store🐾 NEXT STEPS 👣Step 1: Join the free Living Beyond Obedience community and connect with other dog owners who are learning to lead through trust, relevance, and understanding.Step 2: Take the Dogonality Quiz to discover how your dog's unique personality shapes the way they learn, communicate, and respond to leadership.👉 https://www.beyondobedience.ca/quizStep 3: Ready to build a calmer, more connected relationship with your dog? Hey Dog Lover 🐾Have you ever stopped to wonder what you're actually communicating to your dog... before you ever say a word?Do you find yourself relying on commands, leash pressure, or constant reminders, yet still feel disconnected?What if the most important conversation with your dog isn't happening through your words at all?In this episode, we're exploring one of the biggest shifts you can make in your relationship with your dog: understanding the silent conversations that happen every single day.Because dogs aren't just listening to what we say.They're reading how we move.How we breathe.How we approach.How we invite.And by the time we say the word...The conversation has already begun.We'll talk about:🐾 Why dogs communicate differently than humans🐾 How body language, movement, and timing shape every interaction🐾 Why the leash shouldn't be your primary conversation🐾 What it really means to "ask" your dog🐾 How relationships become more fluent over time🐾 Why the deepest relationships are often the quietestWe'll also explore:communicationleadershiptrustconnectionclaritybody languageand why the goal isn't to become louder...It's to become more fluent.Because the deeper the relationship...The quieter the conversation becomes.Hope you enjoy this one!Tracy xoxoxRESOURCES🐾 Join the Online Program Fearless Framework!https://beyondobedience.ca/fearless🐾 Take the Quiz!https://www.beyondobedience.ca/quiz🐾 Read the blog!https://beyondobedience.ca/blogCONNECT WITH ME!Contact → [email protected]Podcast → https://beyondobedience.ca/podcastConnect → https://facebook.com/groups/LivingBeyondObedienceResources → https://www.beyondobedience.ca/quizMerch → https://www.beyondobedience.ca/store🐾 NEXT STEPS 👣Step 1: Join a supportive community of dog owners learning how to build trust, clarity, and healthier partnerships with their dogs inside the free Facebook group Living Beyond Obedience.Step 2: Take the Dogonality Quiz to better understand how your dog naturally responds to stress, pressure, and relationship dynamics.👉 https://www.beyondobedience.ca/quizStep 3: Learn how to navigate fearful, reactive, and emotionally complex behaviour with more confidence and clarity inside The Fearless Framework.👉 https://beyondobedience.ca/fearlessMusic Credit 🎶: Shawn Trotterwww.shawntrotter.com

224 | The Most Overlooked Reward in Dog Training (It's Not Treats)
Hey Dog Lover 🐾Have you ever wondered if treats are really the most powerful reward you can give your dog?Do you find yourself reaching for food every time you want to reinforce good behaviour?What if one of the most meaningful rewards your dog experiences isn't something you carry in your pocket...But something you feel?In this episode, we're talking about one of the most overlooked rewards in relationship-based dog training: your genuine delight.Because there is a big difference between saying, "Good dog," and laughing because your dog made you smile.We'll talk about:🐾 Why genuine joy creates deeper connection than we often realize🐾 The difference between transactional rewards and relational rewards🐾 How laughter strengthens trust and relevance🐾 Why dogs notice our emotional state long before our words🐾 The science behind feel-good hormones and social bonding🐾 How delight can become one of the most powerful reinforcers in your relationshipWe'll also explore:trustconnectionleadershiprelevancejoyfulfillmentand why sometimes the greatest reward you can give your dog isn't a treat...It's the feeling that being with you is genuinely fun.Because when your dog becomes the reason you smile...And your dog experiences your delight...You're building something much bigger than obedience.You're building relationship.Hope you enjoy this one!Tracy xoxoxRESOURCES🐾 Join the Online Program Fearless Framework!https://beyondobedience.ca/fearless🐾 Take the Quiz!https://www.beyondobedience.ca/quiz🐾 Read the blog!https://beyondobedience.ca/blogCONNECT WITH ME!Contact → [email protected]Podcast → https://beyondobedience.ca/podcastConnect → https://facebook.com/groups/LivingBeyondObedienceResources → https://www.beyondobedience.ca/quizMerch → https://www.beyondobedience.ca/store🐾 NEXT STEPS 👣Step 1: Join a supportive community of dog owners learning how to build trust, clarity, and healthier partnerships with their dogs inside the free Facebook group Living Beyond Obedience.Step 2: Take the Dogonality Quiz to better understand how your dog naturally responds to stress, pressure, and relationship dynamics.👉 https://www.beyondobedience.ca/quizStep 3: Learn how to navigate fearful, reactive, and emotionally complex behaviour with more confidence and clarity inside The Fearless Framework.👉 https://beyondobedience.ca/fearlessMusic Credit 🎶: Shawn Trotterwww.shawntrotter.com

223 | What Does It Mean To Ask Your Dog?
Hey Dog Lover 🐾Have you ever noticed how often we tell our dogs what to do?Sit.Stay.Come.Leave it.Wait.Move.Off.But have you ever stopped to ask yourself:What does it actually mean to ask my dog?And why does that matter?In this episode, we're exploring one of the biggest shifts that happens when we move beyond obedience and start focusing on relationship-based leadership.Because communication isn't just about telling our dogs what to do.It's about creating opportunities for connection, participation, and trust.We'll talk about:🐾 Why most of us were taught to tell rather than ask🐾 The difference between directing and inviting🐾 How the "Be With" teaches dogs to choose connection🐾 Why participation is different than compliance🐾 What happens when dogs have room to think and choose🐾 How asking strengthens trust and confidenceWe'll also explore:leadershipcommunicationtrustrelevancepartnershipchoiceand why one of the most powerful things we can do for our dogs is create opportunities for them to participate instead of simply comply.Because asking isn't about giving up leadership.It's about becoming someone your dog wants to join.And every time your dog says "yes" to that invitation, the relationship grows a little stronger.Hope you enjoy this one!Tracy xoxoxRESOURCES🐾 Join the Fearless Framework:https://beyondobedience.ca/fearless🐾 Take the Quiz!https://www.beyondobedience.ca/quiz🐾 Read the blog!https://beyondobedience.ca/blogConnect with ME!Contact → [email protected]Podcast → https://beyondobedience.ca/podcastConnect → https://facebook.com/groups/LivingBeyondObedienceResources → https://www.beyondobedience.ca/quizMerch → https://www.beyondobedience.ca/store👣 NEXT STEPS 🐾Step 1: Join a supportive community of dog owners learning how to build trust, clarity, and healthier partnerships with their dogs inside the free Facebook group Living Beyond Obedience.Step 2: Take the Dogonality Quiz to better understand how your dog naturally responds to stress, pressure, and relationship dynamics.👉 https://www.beyondobedience.ca/quizStep 3: Learn how to navigate fearful, reactive, and emotionally complex behaviour with more confidence and clarity inside The Fearless Framework.👉 https://beyondobedience.ca/fearlessMusic Credit 🎶: Shawn Trotterwww.shawntrotter.com

222 | Training Harder Isn't Working... Here's Why
Hey Dog Lover 🐾Have you ever felt like you're doing all the right things... but somehow things still aren't getting better?Do you find yourself constantly searching for the next training tip, tool, strategy, or solution?Have you ever wondered if trying harder might actually be making things more difficult?In this episode, we're talking about something many dog owners experience but rarely recognize:The pressure that comes from constantly trying to fix everything.Because when our dogs struggle, our natural response is often to do more.More training.More management.More research.More effort.But what if the answer isn't always more?What if the answer is understanding?We'll talk about:🐾 Why trying harder is our natural human response🐾 How pressure can unintentionally affect our dogs🐾 The connection between uncertainty and control🐾 Why every interaction doesn't need to become a training session🐾 What Levi taught me about removing pressure🐾 How curiosity creates opportunities for growthand why sometimes the biggest breakthroughs happen when we stop asking:"What else do I need to do?"and start asking:"What am I not understanding yet?"Because dog ownership isn't supposed to feel like a never-ending problem to solve.It's supposed to be a relationship to experience.Hope you enjoy this one!Tracy xoxoxRESOURCES🐾 Join the Fearless Framework:https://beyondobedience.ca/fearless🐾 Take the Quiz!https://www.beyondobedience.ca/quiz🐾 Read the blog!https://beyondobedience.ca/blogConnect with ME!Contact → [email protected]Podcast → https://beyondobedience.ca/podcastConnect → https://facebook.com/groups/LivingBeyondObedienceResources → https://www.beyondobedience.ca/quizMerch → https://www.beyondobedience.ca/store👣 NEXT STEPS 🐾Step 1: Join a supportive community of dog owners learning how to build trust, clarity, and healthier partnerships with their dogs inside the free Facebook group Living Beyond Obedience.Step 2: Take the Dogonality Quiz to better understand how your dog naturally responds to stress, pressure, and relationship dynamics.👉 https://www.beyondobedience.ca/quizStep 3: Learn how to navigate fearful, reactive, and emotionally complex behaviour with more confidence and clarity inside The Fearless Framework.👉 https://beyondobedience.ca/fearlessMusic Credit 🎶: Shawn Trotterwww.shawntrotter.com

221 | Why Obedience Isn't Building The Relationship You Want
Hey Dog Lover 🐾Have you ever looked at your dog and thought:"They know all of this... so why does it still feel like we're disconnected?"Does your dog listen perfectly in some situations but completely forget you exist when life gets interesting?Have you ever wondered why obedience doesn't always create the relationship you're hoping for?In this episode, we're exploring one of the biggest misconceptions in the dog world:The idea that obedience and connection are the same thing.Because while obedience is a skill, leadership is a relationship.And those two things aren't always built the same way.We'll talk about:🐾 Why obedience and connection are not the same thing🐾 The difference between compliance and relationship🐾 Why some dogs obey everyone🐾 What obedience can teach us—and what it can't🐾 Why leadership isn't about control🐾 How trust and relevance influence your dog's choicesWe'll also explore:trustleadershiprelevancecommunicationpartnershipconnectionand why a dog can know every cue in the world and still struggle to look to you when life gets hard.Because obedience may teach a behaviour.But relationship is what makes your dog want to stay connected when it matters most.And that is where true leadership begins.Hope you enjoy this one!Tracy xoxoxRESOURCES🐾 Join the Online Program Fearless Framework!https://beyondobedience.ca/fearless🐾 Take the quiz!https://www.beyondobedience.ca/quiz🐾 Read the blog!https://beyondobedience.ca/blogCONNECT WITH ME!Contact → [email protected]Podcast → https://beyondobedience.ca/podcastConnect → https://facebook.com/groups/LivingBeyondObedienceResources → https://www.beyondobedience.ca/quizMerch → https://www.beyondobedience.ca/store🐾 NEXT STEPS 👣Step 1: Join a supportive community of dog owners learning how to build trust, clarity, and healthier partnerships with their dogs inside the free Facebook group Living Beyond Obedience.Step 2: Take the Dogonality Quiz to better understand how your dog naturally responds to stress, pressure, and relationship dynamics.👉 https://www.beyondobedience.ca/quizStep 3: Learn how to navigate fearful, reactive, and emotionally complex behaviour with more confidence and clarity inside The Fearless Framework.👉 https://beyondobedience.ca/fearlessMusic Credit 🎶: Shawn Trotterwww.shawntrotter.com

220 | Why Did I Get This Dog? The Thought Nobody Wants to Admit
Hey Dog Lover 🐾Have you ever looked at your dog and thought:"Why did I get this dog?"Have you ever felt guilty for even having that thought?Do you sometimes wonder if you're the problem... if you're failing... or if you've simply taken on more than you can handle?In this episode, we're talking about one of the most common thoughts struggling dog owners have—and one of the least talked about.Because when you're living with a fearful dog, a reactive dog, or a dog that constantly keeps you on edge, it's easy to start questioning everything.Your decisions.Your abilities.Your relationship.And even yourself.We'll talk about:🐾 Why so many dog owners secretly regret their decision at some point🐾 The emotional weight of constantly managing your dog's behaviour🐾 Hypervigilance and the feeling that one mistake could ruin everything🐾 Why overwhelm is not the same thing as failure🐾 The difference between being stuck and being hopeless🐾 How to find your way back to the good momentsWe'll also explore:trustleadershippartnershipanxietyhypervigilanceresilienceand why the thought:"Why did I get this dog?"is often hiding a much deeper question underneath:"I don't know if I can carry all of this anymore."Because the reality is, most people don't keep going because everything is terrible.They keep going because there is still so much good.The quiet moments.The funny moments.The moments where it's just you and your dog and everything else fades away.And sometimes, that's enough to remind us why we started.Hope you enjoy this one!Tracy xoxoxRESOURCES🐾 Join the Online Program Fearless Framework!https://beyondobedience.ca/fearless🐾 Take the quiz!https://www.beyondobedience.ca/quiz🐾 Read the blog!https://beyondobedience.ca/blogCONNECT WITH ME!Contact → [email protected]Podcast → https://beyondobedience.ca/podcastConnect → https://facebook.com/groups/LivingBeyondObedienceResources → https://www.beyondobedience.ca/quizMerch → https://www.beyondobedience.ca/store🐾 NEXT STEPS 👣Step 1: Join a supportive community of dog owners learning how to build trust, clarity, and healthier partnerships with their dogs inside the free Facebook group Living Beyond Obedience.Step 2: Take the Dogonality Quiz to better understand how your dog naturally responds to stress, pressure, and relationship dynamics.👉 https://www.beyondobedience.ca/quizStep 3: Learn how to navigate fearful, reactive, and emotionally complex behaviour with more confidence and clarity inside The Fearless Framework.👉 https://beyondobedience.ca/fearlessMusic Credit 🎶: Shawn Trotterwww.shawntrotter.com

219 | The Pack of Two: The Relationship Your Dog Actually Wants
Hey Dog Lover 🐾Have you ever worried that your dog doesn't have enough dog friends?Do you feel guilty when your dog isn't interested in greeting every person or playing with every dog they meet?Have you ever wondered if we've misunderstood what socialization is really supposed to accomplish?In this episode, we're exploring a simple but powerful idea:The Pack of Two.Because humans and dogs experience relationships very differently.As humans, we spend a lot of time thinking about belonging, fitting in, and being accepted by the larger group.Dogs?Not so much.While dogs absolutely need social connection, many dogs are far more concerned with the quality of their relationships than the quantity of them.We'll talk about:🐾 Why humans and dogs experience social relationships differently🐾 The surprising reason your dog doesn't care what everyone thinks🐾 Why socialization isn't the same as social interaction🐾 The myth that every dog should love everybody🐾 How trust and partnership help dogs navigate the world🐾 Why some dogs need deeper relationships, not more relationshipsWe'll also explore:trustleadershipconnectionsocializationpartnershipand why the strongest relationship in your dog's life might be the one they're building with you.Because the goal has never been to create a dog who wants to be friends with everyone.The goal is to create a dog who can move through the world with confidence.And for many dogs, that confidence starts with a strong pack of two.Hope you enjoy this one!Tracy xoxoxResourcesFearless Framework Online Program for Dog Lovers🐾 https://beyondobedience.ca/fearlessWhy Does My Dog Act Like This? 218 | My Dog Knows Better Than This: The Dog Training Trap Nobody Talks About
Hey Dog Lover 🐾Have you ever found yourself saying:"But my dog knows this."Do you feel frustrated when your dog suddenly struggles with something they've done successfully dozens of times before?Have you ever wondered if your dog is really choosing not to listen... or if something else might be going on?In this episode, we're exploring one of the most common phrases in dog training:"My dog should know better."But what if that's the wrong question?Because knowing something and being able to do it are not always the same thing.Just because your dog has learned a skill doesn't mean they'll always be able to access it when they're stressed, excited, overwhelmed, uncertain, or distracted.We'll talk about:🐾 Why knowing and doing are two very different things🐾 How stress, pressure, and emotions impact performance🐾 Why dogs don't simply "forget" their training🐾 What I observed with Gunther at the WCERA Games🐾 Why mistakes and setbacks are valuable information🐾 How curiosity creates better solutions than judgmentWe'll also explore:trustunderstandingawarenessemotional capacityproblem-solvingand why asking "What changed?" is often more helpful than saying "My dog should know better."Because the moment we assume our dogs are being stubborn, difficult, or choosing to ignore us, we stop being curious.And curiosity is often where understanding begins.The goal isn't to prove your dog knows better.The goal is to understand why they couldn't access what they knew in that moment.And that's often where real progress starts.Hope you enjoy this one!Tracy xoxoxResourcesFearless Framework Online Program for Dog Lovers🐾 https://beyondobedience.ca/fearlessWhy Does My Dog Act Like This? Hey Dog Lover 🐾Have you ever noticed that your dog behaves differently around certain people?Do you sometimes wonder why your dog seems calmer around some dogs and more reactive around others?Have you ever considered that your presence might be influencing your dog's behaviour more than you realize?In this episode, I'm sharing one of the most important lessons I've ever learned about dog behaviour.And surprisingly, it didn't come from dog training.It came from my Newfoundlands.Over the years, I watched fearful, reactive, anxious, and overwhelmed dogs interact with my Newfs. What fascinated me wasn't what my dogs did.It was what they didn't do.No corrections.No drama.No interventions.And yet, time and time again, the other dogs would settle.When they did, something remarkable happened.Their true nature appeared.In this episode, we explore:🐾 Why calm reveals truth🐾 How emotional energy affects behaviour🐾 How you are part of your dog's environment🐾 The hidden cost of emotional static🐾 How grounded leadership creates clarity🐾 Why understanding your dog starts with understanding yourselfWe'll also talk about:relationshiptrustawarenesscommunicationemotional reliabilityand why sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is simply become quiet enough to listen.Because when we stop adding to the noise, our dogs often tell us exactly who they are and what they need.Hope you enjoy this one! Hey Dog Lover 🐾Have you ever felt completely overwhelmed by all the opinions about dog training tools?Are you wondering if the next harness, collar, leash, or gadget will finally solve your dog's walking problems?Do you sometimes feel like the dog training world is more focused on the equipment than the dog standing at the end of the leash?In this episode, we're diving into one of the most controversial topics in dog training:Training tools.But instead of debating which tool is "best," we're going to explore a different question:Can a tool actually solve your problem?Because there is a big difference between using a tool and depending on a tool.We'll talk about:🐾 Why every piece of dog equipment is technically a tool (yes...even treats)🐾 What tools can actually do for you and your dog🐾 What tools can never do for you and your dog🐾 Why marketing around dog training equipment often misses the bigger picture🐾 The difference between leverage and influence🐾 Why your relationship matters more than the equipment you're using🐾 How to become someone your dog wants to stay connected toWe'll also explore:leadershiptrustpartnershipinfluencerelationshipand why the real goal isn't finding the perfect harness...It's becoming the kind of person your dog chooses to follow.Because while tools can help create clarity, improve safety, and bridge communication gaps...They cannot create trust.They cannot create connection.And they cannot build a relationship for you.The goal isn't finding the right equipment.The goal is becoming someone your dog wants to stay with.How interesting. 😉Hope you enjoy this one!Tracy xoxoxRESOURCES Fearless Framework Online Program for Dog Lovers🐾 https://beyondobedience.ca/fearlessWhy Does My Dog Act Like This? 210 | Is Your Dog Manipulating You? Fearful Dogs, Boundaries & Leadership
Hey Dog Lover🐾Have you ever worried that saying “no” to your dog might damage your relationship with them?Do you sometimes feel emotionally exhausted trying to figure out whether your dog needs support… or clearer boundaries?Have you ever wondered if your dog is unintentionally influencing your emotions, routines, or decisions more than you realize?In this episode, we’re diving into one of the most misunderstood concepts in the dog world:manipulation.Because yes… dogs absolutely influence outcomes.But not in the “evil mastermind trying to dominate you” kind of way 😅We’re talking about:what manipulation actually iswhy behaviour is rooted in survival and outcome-seekinghow dogs learn what works in relationshipswhy fearful dog owners often struggle with boundariesand the difference between compassion and emotional chaosWe also explore:guiltemotional discomfortleadershiprelationship balanceand why clarity is one of the kindest things we can offer our dogsThis episode is a nuanced conversation about partnership, survival strategies, emotional influence, and learning how to support your dog without losing yourself in the process.Because healthy relationships are not built through guilt.They’re built through trust, honesty, communication, and clarity.ResourcesFearless Framework🐾 https://beyondobedience.ca/fearlessDogonality Quiz🐾 www.beyondobedience.ca/quizBlog post for this episode🐾 https://beyondobedience.ca/blogConnect with Me! 209 | Why Your Dog’s Behaviour Isn’t Random (And What You’re Missing)
Hey Dog Lover 🐾Does your dog sometimes seem completely fine one day… and totally overwhelmed the next?Have you ever caught yourself saying:“This reaction came out of nowhere”?Do you feel like you’re constantly trying to figure out why your dog reacts in certain situations—but the behaviour still feels unpredictable?In this episode, we’re talking about why your dog’s behaviour is probably NOT random—and how understanding patterns, pressure, and emotional buildup can completely change the way you see your dog.Because dogs don’t experience life in isolated moments.They experience:accumulationcontextemotional loadingenvironmental pressureand patterns humans often miss entirelyWe’re diving into:threshold stackingstress accumulationwhy reactions rarely happen “out of nowhere”how anticipation changes behaviourand why humans often only notice behaviour once it becomes inconvenientWe’ll also talk about why curiosity matters so much in relationship-based training and how asking:“How interesting… what pattern am I missing?”can completely shift the way you respond to your dog.Because when behaviour starts making sense…everything changes.Resources Fearless Framework🐾 https://beyondobedience.ca/fearlessDogonality Quiz🐾 www.beyondobedience.ca/quizBlog post for this episode🐾 www.beyondobedience.ca/blogConnect with Me! Hey Dog Lover 🐾Have you ever had a moment with your dog go sideways and immediately thought:“Oh no… did I just ruin everything?”Has your dog ever suddenly become worried about something they were previously totally fine with?Do setbacks with your dog sometimes make you feel like you’re back at square one?In this episode, I’m pulling back the curtain on a very real, very human moment with Gunther that did not go according to plan 😅What started as an unfortunate deer poop incident quickly turned into an important reminder about:emotional associationsoverwhelmpressureand how quickly dogs connect experiences togetherWe’re talking about:why dogs create associations so quicklyhow frustration and urgency can affect our dogswhy one imperfect moment does NOT ruin your relationshipwhat repair and rebuilding trust actually look likeand why progress with dogs is never about perfectionThis is a more vulnerable, behind-the-scenes episode about real life, real dogs, and the importance of curiosity and partnership when things don’t go perfectly.Because sometimes the most meaningful relationship moments don’t happen during perfection…They happen during repair.RESOURCESDogonality Quiz👉 www.beyondobedience.ca/quizFearless Framework👉 https://beyondobedience.ca/fearlessBlog post for this episode👉 www.beyondobedience.ca/blogCONNECT WITH MEContact - > [email protected] -> https://beyondobedience.ca/podcastConnect -> https://facebook.com/groups/LivingBeyondObedienceResources - > www.beyondobedience.ca/quizMerch -> Get your Beyond Obedience merch! www.beyondobedience.ca/store🐾 Next Steps👣:Step 1: Join a supportive community of dog owners learning how to better understand behaviour, rebuild trust, and navigate real-life struggles inside the free Facebook group Living Beyond ObedienceStep 2: Take the Dogonality Quiz to better understand how your dog processes pressure, stress, and the world around them👉 www.beyondobedience.ca/quizStep 3: Learn how to build trust, leadership, awareness, and real-life partnership with your dog inside The Fearless Framework👉 https://beyondobedience.ca/fearlessMusic Credit 🎶 Shawn Trotter. www.shawntrotter.com

207 | Your Dog Doesn’t Need More Exercise
Hey Dog Lover 🐾Have you ever taken your dog on a long walk only to come home and feel like they’re STILL completely wired?Does it sometimes feel like the more exercise you give your dog… the more intense, disconnected, or excitable they become?Have you ever wondered if your dog doesn’t actually need more activity, but something much deeper?In this episode, we’re talking about the difference between exercise and true fulfillment, and why simply trying to “tire your dog out” often misses the bigger picture.Because fulfillment isn’t just about movement.It’s about relevance, biology, curiosity, partnership, and learning how to genuinely participate in your dog’s world.We’re diving into:why the environment is so biologically meaningful to dogshow breed tendencies and Dogonality influence fulfillmentwhy some dogs seem MORE revved up after exercisethe difference between exhaustion and fulfillmentand the real secret to becoming more relevant to your dogWe’ll also talk about why partnership matters so much, especially for reactive dogs.Resources Fearless Framework👉 https://beyondobedience.ca/fearlessDogonality Quiz👉 www.beyondobedience.ca/quizBlog post for this episode👉www.beyondobedience.ca/blogConnect with MeContact - > [email protected] -> https://beyondobedience.ca/podcastConnect -> https://facebook.com/groups/LivingBeyondObedienceResources - > www.beyondobedience.ca/quizMerch -> Get your Beyond Obedience merch! www.beyondobedience.ca/store🐾 Next Steps👣:Step 1: Join a supportive community of dog owners learning how to build trust, relevance, and real-life partnership with their dogs inside the free Facebook group Living Beyond ObedienceStep 2: Take the Dogonality Quiz to better understand how your dog processes the world and what truly fulfills themwww.beyondobedience.ca/quizStep 3: Learn how to stop managing behaviour and start building deeper connection, confidence, and understanding inside The Fearless Framework https://beyondobedience.ca/fearlessMusic Credit 🎶 Shawn Trotter www.shawntrotter.com

Hey Dog Lover! 🐾Does your dog listen perfectly at home… but completely disconnect once you step outside?Do you feel like the more stressed your dog gets, the less your commands actually matter?Have you ever wondered if your dog doesn’t need more obedience at all—but something entirely different from you?In this episode, we’re talking about why commands often fall apart under pressure—and why your dog may not actually need more obedience.Because when stress, pressure, instinct, and emotion take over…Dogs shift.And when they shift out of the thinking side of the brain and into instinctual processing, “English as a second language” becomes much harder to access.Which means the real question becomes:👉 How do we stay connected to our dogs in BOTH worlds?We’re diving into:why obedience can become a substitute for relationshiphow stress changes processingthe importance of understanding your dog’s Dogonalityand why becoming relevant to your dog goes far beyond commandsBecause dogs don’t build relationships through obedience alone…They build them through shared experiences, trust, and meaningful connection.Hope you enjoy this one! 192 | Why Your Dog Ignores ‘No’ {Conversations with Your Dog Series}
Hey Dog Lover 🐾Do you feel like your dog hears the word “no”… but it doesn’t actually mean anything?Are you constantly repeating yourself or correcting your dog with little to no change in their behaviour?Do you feel like you have to get louder, firmer, or more intense just to get your dog to listen?In this episode, I’m sharing the powerful shift from constant correction to meaningful communication—and why your dog’s response to “no” has everything to do with your relationship, not your volume.We’re diving into the concept of agreement versus disagreement, and how dogs that live in a world full of pressure, repetition, and correction start to tune us out. But when your dog experiences connection, joy, and engagement with you on a daily basis, your communication carries weight—and your “no” finally means something.If you have a reactive or fearful dog, or you feel like your dog just ignores you, this episode will help you understand why—and how to start building a relationship where your dog actually wants to listen.Next Steps🐾👣:Step 1: Join a supportive community of dog owners with reactive or fearful dogs who are looking to build trust, confidence, and connection inside the free Facebook group Living Beyond ObedienceStep 2: Find out your dog's unique Dogonality. 191 | Your Dog Not Listening To You? Here's Why {Conversations with Your Dog Series}
Hey Dog Lover 🐾Do you feel like your dog just isn’t listening—no matter how many times you repeat yourself?Are you relying on commands, treats, or tools… but still not seeing real change in your dog’s behaviour?Do you wish you could actually communicate with your dog instead of constantly telling them what to do?In this episode, I’m sharing a completely different way to approach dog training, one that shifts you from commanding your dog to actually having a conversation with them, so you can build understanding, trust, and real connection.I take you back to where this concept first clicked for me, including my experience learning from my mentor and the powerful (and humbling) lessons I learned working with a rescue husky named Jayce—with no tools, no treats, and no shortcuts.If you feel like traditional dog training methods aren’t working, this episode will help you see why—and what to do instead so you can start getting real results with your dog.Hope you enjoy this one! ~Tracy xoxoNext Steps🐾👣:Step 1: Join a supportive community of dog owners with reactive or fearful dogs who are looking to build trust, confidence, and connection inside the free Facebook group Living Beyond ObedienceStep 2: Find out your dog's unique Dogonality. Hey there, fellow Dog Lover ! 🐾What if your dog’s reactivity isn’t just about the trigger……but about the tension between you and your dog?In this episode, we explore a powerful (and slightly uncomfortable) idea: What if the fight… is the fight?We break down:How leash tension, control, and tight handling can increase reactivityWhy dogs push against pressure—and how that creates a cycleThe role of choice, autonomy, and communication in building trustWhy trust goes both ways between you and your dogHow to start listening to your dog instead of constantly directing themThis episode isn’t about letting your dog “do whatever they want.”It’s about creating space for understanding, building trust, and changing the conversation between you and your dog.Because sometimes…👉 Reactivity isn’t about the world.👉 It’s about the pressure your dog feels within it.How interesting…Hope you enjoy this one! 188 | What Happens When You Stop Trying to Contol Your Reactive Dog
Hey Dog Lover🐾Are you constantly trying to manage or control your reactive dog’s behaviour?Do you feel like if you’re not actively directing every moment, everything will fall apart?What if the real shift isn’t about controlling your dog… but about controlling yourself?In this episode, I’m sharing a personal turning point that changed the way I work with dogs forever.There was a time when I was teaching obedience classes — even though deep down I knew it wasn’t how I was actually living with my own dogs. It felt disingenuous to teach people to rely on commands and control when I knew the deeper transformation with dogs came from something else entirely.We talk about why so many reactive dog owners feel stuck in control mode, why obedience alone often falls short, and how real change begins when we shift our focus inward. If you’ve ever felt like you’re doing everything you’ve been told to do but your dog still struggles, this conversation will help you understand where the real leverage is.Hope you enjoy!
