Neal Morse invited drummer Mike Portnoy, bassist Randy George, keyboardist Bill Hubauer and guitarist Eric Gillette to come to the studio prepared to contribute integrally to the songwriting process on their 2015 album "The Grand Experiment".  

Neal Morse joins ProgPositivity to discuss his band's 2015 release "The Grand Experiment", their most collaborative effort to date.  For his upcoming 2015 album, Neal Morse tried a "Grand Experiment" which resulted in a reinvigoration of the band's sound while still retaining the soaring melodies, catchy hooks, and sterling instrumental performances fans have grown to expect.

Jon discusses how exciting it was to perform with the teenagers of the Cleveland Contemporary Youth Orchestra and the schedule for the release of the upcoming DVD of the concert. "I got carried away at times... Some days you can say how you feel deep inside... you hope it comes through with honesty and hope for the future... It comes from a good place."

Jon discusses his FAVORITE song from THE LIVING TREE "The funny thing with Rick is - once you start talking about a song, he'll always come in with a joke about it...!"

Jon's lyrics may have given us the "LONG DISTANCE RUNAROUND" in the 70's, but lately the meaning of his lyrics seem to come out of the songs and "JUST STAND THERE"! "Hey, I'm in my 60's.  I'll say what I want to say how I want to say it - and I'll do it with as much artistic poetry as I can."

Changing our thoughts on war.  It has become a very big Bu$ine$$.

Jon says the over-energized advertising world distracts us "and it's totally wrong of course, it's just to sell stuff.  Pretty soon you have to sing about it!" Who is Jon's favorite cricket from youth?
