Big Shot Bob – Ep 259 – Unemployment
Seven-time NBA champion Robert Horry, B-Dog Brandon Harper, and Rob Jenners break down everything happening in the 2025 playoffs — and there's a LOT to get into on Episode 259. The Thunder are rolling. OKC swept the Lakers to go 8-0 in the playoffs so far, doing it without Jalen Williams and doing it in convincing fashion. Big Shot Bob gives his honest take on LA's future — including whether Austin Reaves deserves $250 million, what LeBron's exit interview really signals, and why the Lakers keep running into the same wall every spring. Then the guys get into Victor Wembanyama's elbow on Naz Reid — Rob makes the case he should've been suspended, and breaks down exactly why the NBA's handling of it sets a bad precedent. Should the league have at least hit him with a fine? Everyone agrees on that one. We also dig into what NOT suspending Wemby says about how the NBA protects its stars, and whether that chips away at what's fair for everyone else on the floor. In the East, the Knicks swept the Sixers out — 25 threes, a 30-point blowout, and Knicks fans completely taking over Philly's arena. The boys break down what that team is actually capable of, and size up whoever's coming out of the Pistons-Cavs series to face them. Spoiler: neither team looks ready. Plus: the Washington Wizards win the draft lottery, Draymond takes a shot at Charles Barkley on Inside the NBA (and the guys have some thoughts on that), Steve Kerr's Warriors extension, Jaylen Brown's $50K fine for calling out Joel Embiid on Twitch, and the Big Shout of the Week goes to a 73-year-old music teacher from England who remortgaged his house to save his neighborhood pub. We close it out with this week's game — All-Time Playoff Runs — testing Big Shot Bob on some of the best postseason win streaks in NBA history. Does he know the Warriors' 2017 run better than he thinks? Let's find out. Subscribe and leave us a review wherever you listen. Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 132 – The Real Meaning of Cinco de Mayo
It's a Friday, which means it's time for another Shoot Around — the show where we throw everything at the wall and see what sticks. Big Shot Bob himself, Robert Horry, is back in the building for Episode 132, and this one goes all over the place. We kick things off reacting to Skip Bayless returning to First Take for a one-time reunion with Stephen A. Smith. Nobody asked for it, everybody's gonna watch it — including us. But it raises a fair question: are you tuning in because you actually enjoy them, or just because it's been so long that nostalgia has you by the throat? From there we got into what TV reunions we'd actually want to see, which somehow turned into Rob getting volunteered — live, on the spot — to host a new version of NBA Inside Stuff with Ahmad Rashad's old job. He ran with it. Like, really ran with it. The man had co-host candidates locked and loaded (Cheryl Miller, Monica McNutt, and others get a mention), a vision for the show, and apparently more enthusiasm for a job he doesn't have than the one he does. Incredible. Then things got weird. A United Airlines plane clipped a bakery truck on the Jersey Turnpike on approach to Newark — and we had the audio. That set off a whole conversation about terrifying aviation moments, NBA team charter planes, which franchises had the nicest setups (Dallas and Portland apparently had the goods), and the time Rob was sitting next to Butter Bean on a late-night flight when the guy in front of them went completely still and his wife lost her mind thinking he was dead. Spoiler: sleep paralysis. A listener named Richie sent in a question after a wild JP Morgan story broke this week — a guy fabricated a sexual harassment case, it went everywhere before anyone fact-checked it, and the woman got dragged online for days before the truth came out. That opened the door for Rob to share a story he's apparently never told publicly: the time a woman he didn't even know filed a false harassment claim against him with the Lakers, complete with unsolicited fan mail that's... a lot. We won't spoil the details. But it ended with Rob's lawyer sorting it out after discovering the same woman had done it to three other people. We wrapped up with a question from Vic about the Mandalorian movie dropping near May the 4th, Star Wars fatigue, and whether Marvel is stuck in the same trap — giving away so much for free on streaming that nobody wants to pay for the theatrical version anymore. Then, naturally, it was Cinco de Mayo (Taco Tuesday edition), which meant Rob had to explain a very chaotic night in Austell, Georgia, a sombrero, a man in a full Transformer outfit, and getting home at 3 AM. Friday energy. All the way through. Big Shot Bob – Ep 258 – Scoop B and Networking at the Red Wedding
Seven-time NBA champion Robert Horry and co-hosts Rob Jenners and Brandon Harper welcome CBS Sports and media personality Scoop B Robinson to episode 258 of the Big Shot Bob Podcast. The three dig into the second round of the 2025 NBA Playoffs — round-by-round breakdowns, trade intel, LeBron at 41, Ant Edwards off the bench, and a game of Walmart or Waffle House to close it out. Scoop B comes in hot with insider knowledge on the Giannis trade market — including which teams are serious, which ones are bluffing, and why Portland might be more in the conversation than anyone wants to admit. Rob gives his honest PSA to LeBron James. And Harp asks whether Robert Horry's Rockets would've still won those championships even if MJ never went to play baseball. (Spoiler: Rob has no doubts.) Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 131 – Phil and I Never Had a Conversation
It's Friday and the Big Shot Bob crew is back with Episode 131 of Shoot Around — the weekly bonus show where Robert Horry, Rob Jenners, and B-Dog Brandon Harper dig into the questions YOU send in and whatever's on their minds. This week kicks off with a debate born from the new Michael Jackson biopic hitting theaters: Start, Bench, Cut — MJ era edition. The Thriller era (1982–85), the Bad era (1987–89), and the Dangerous era (1991–94) are all on the table. Which era do you start? Which do you bench? Which do you cut? The guys break down their picks, argue over the greatest MJ music videos of all time (Smooth Criminal vs. Remember the Time), debate whether Chris Tucker was actually IN Smooth Criminal (he wasn't), and Harper goes deep on the Ghost mini-movie that almost nobody's seen. The verdict? Unanimous love for Thriller, but serious disagreement on whether Bad or Dangerous gets the bench. Then the guys jump into the all-time greatest NBA coaches debate, sparked by Pat Riley making it clear at 81 years old that he has zero plans to retire or step aside. Phil Jackson, Pat Riley, Gregg Popovich, Don Nelson, Lenny Wilkins, Red Auerbach — who makes the cut? Robert Horry gives a unique firsthand perspective on Phil Jackson, including the detail that Phil literally never spoke to him during their championship runs together. There's also the Del Harris comparison — same roster, completely different results — and what that says about coaching being as much about managing personalities as drawing up plays. A Reddit user's anti-tanking beer pricing proposal gets a quick airing, and then the crew weighs in on Diego Pavia going undrafted after representing himself at the NFL Draft — no agent, no deal. Robert Horry reflects on firing his own agent in 2001 and what he missed out on off the court despite winning six championships, and the guys debate whether being your own representative ever actually works when you're already fighting an uphill battle. To close things out, a fan question about the best superhero shows ever made opens up a great conversation about Invincible (currently must-watch TV), The Boys, Smallville, The Flash, Dragon Ball Z, the upcoming Mortal Kombat film, and a He-Man movie trip that Robert Horry is already planning with his son. Plus — the case for a live-action Thundercats reboot that the world is clearly not ready for. 🏀 New episodes of the Big Shot Bob Podcast drop weekly. Big Shot Bob – Ep 257 – That’s A Lot of Feed For Your Horses
The NBA Playoffs are delivering chaos, history, and heartbreak — and Big Shot Bob Robert Horry, host Rob Jenners, and B-Dog Brandon Harper are breaking it ALL down on Episode 257 of the Big Shot Bob Podcast! The Orlando Magic are one win away from completing one of the most stunning upsets in NBA postseason history — knocking off the #1 seed Detroit Pistons as an 8-seed. What's gone wrong for Cade Cunningham and the Pistons, and can they save their season on home floor? Robert Horry knows something about coming back from 3-1 deficits — he lived it with the 1995 Houston Rockets. The OKC Thunder close out the Phoenix Suns in a clean sweep, looking like the most complete team in the West. With SGA dropping 31 in the clincher and a bench that could start anywhere in the league, is anyone actually beating these guys? Then it's the Denver Nuggets fighting to stay alive against Minnesota — Joker posts a 27/16/12, Aaron Gordon goes OFF for 43 off the bench in Game 4, but the Timberwolves are healthy and hungry. Can Denver find a way? The guys debate coaching, defense, and whether the NBA owes us a Wemby vs. Jokic matchup. In the East, the New York Knicks celebrate a Game 4 win with some famous Magic City Wings — and Lou Will has thoughts. Will Jalen Johnson step up for Atlanta in a hostile MSG environment? Robert Horry shares his perspective on why playing on the road was actually easier for him. In Philly, Joel Embiid returns from appendix surgery and the Sixers still get blown out by 32. Is it finally time for the 76ers to move on? And the Toronto Raptors have breathed life into their series against Cleveland — is Rob Jenners' "shaky branch" take looking more solid? Plus — Victor Wembanyama goes down with a frightening fall in Game 2, misses Game 3, then comes back in Game 4 to put up a stat line only matched by Hakeem Olajuwon. His numbers? A real life category: 25+ points, 10+ rebounds, and 7+ blocks. At 22 years old. The guys close out with this year's NBA Award Winners — including the unanimous Defensive Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Most Improved Player, and the MVP race between Shay, Joker, and Wemby. And they play this week's trivia game: Off the Court — surprising hobbies and hidden talents of NBA legends, from Calvin Murphy's national championship to Karl Malone's CDL license. 🏆 SUBSCRIBE for weekly NBA coverage, playoff breakdowns, and real talk from a 7-time champion. 00:00 – Intro: Big Shot Bob Ep. 257 & NBA Playoffs Are On01:00 – Robert Horry's 1995 Rockets Came Back From 3-1 Down to the Suns02:30 – Magic One Win Away From Eliminating #1 Seed Detroit Pistons04:00 – Orlando's Weird Offense vs. Detroit's Scoring Drought11:30 – OKC Thunder Sweep Phoenix Suns: SGA & The Most Complete Team in the West13:30 – Lakers vs. Rockets: LeBron's Buzzer-Beater & KD's Injury Update16:00 – Denver Nuggets Stave Off Elimination: Jokic's 27/16/12 Night17:00 – Can Denver Come Back? Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 130 – I’ve Got Five Beds
Robert Horry (Big Shot Bob) is back for the Friday Shoot Around bonus episode, and he's got plenty to say about the NBA's end-of-season awards race! This week the MVP finalists are officially in — Nikola Jokic, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and Victor Wembanyama — and Big Shot Bob doesn't hesitate with his pick. Plus, the crew debates whether Wembanyama could make history by winning both MVP and Defensive Player of the Year in the same season (something only Michael Jordan has done), breaks down the Six Man of the Year and Most Improved Player finalists, and questions whether the NBA's Clutch Player of the Year award even means anything. Then it's quiz time: can Robert Horry and Harper correctly name the top 15 best-selling NBA jerseys of the 2025–26 season? Cooper Flagg already cracking the top 10 as a rookie? Stephen Curry still at #1?! And to close things out, a fan question sparks one of the best debates of the season — Tracy McGrady, Penny Hardaway, or Grant Hill: who had the highest ceiling barring injury? Robert Horry actually played against all three and his live, on-the-spot answer might surprise you. Topics Covered: NBA MVP finalists: Jokic, SGA & Wembanyama Can Wemby win MVP + DPOY in the same year? Horry recommends the Jerry West documentary on Prime and shares his relationship with West, praising his candid leadership. The hosts break down Charlotte’s win over Miami and debate the controversial play involving Bam, arguing it should have been reviewed and likely upgraded to a flagrant, while also discussing why Charlotte is a fun team to watch. They cover Portland’s play-in win, highlighting Jrue Holiday’s leadership and Portland’s defense, then preview upcoming matchups including Warriors–Clippers, Magic–76ers (with Joel Embiid out after appendix surgery), and give series picks for Lakers–Rockets, Nuggets–Timberwolves, Knicks–Hawks, and Cavaliers–Raptors. Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 129 – They Call It Tyreek Hill
In this week’s Shoot Around Bonus Show, Episode 129, the hosts discuss a fan question sparked by a joke about trading Giannis Antetokounmpo, focusing on whether the Cleveland Cavaliers could realistically assemble a blockbuster package involving Evan Mobley, future assets, and possibly Jared Allen to create a short-term “super team” with Donovan Mitchell, James Harden, LeBron James, and Giannis—while noting the likely lack of depth and long-term flexibility. They answer a question about Craig Sager, reacting to a Kevin Garnett clip roasting Sager’s suit and sharing Rob’s personal story of crossing paths with Sager through Sager’s wife and an old college connection, emphasizing how widely loved Sager (and Ernie Johnson) were around the NBA. The conversation shifts to Spurs talk, with Horry pushing back on claims that he hates San Antonio, explaining his take on why he doesn’t have Wemby as his MVP and naming his MVP as “Brown,” while still praising the Spurs, Pop, and the 2005 championship team. The group also talks about which franchises should never move, highlighting the St. Louis Cardinals and San Diego Padres, and briefly noting the Braves’ move within the Atlanta area. In NBA rules talk, they react to Paul Pierce’s idea of an LED three-point line that turns on and off during games, calling it too gimmicky and better suited to celebrity or All-Star-style events. The episode also covers UFL rule changes, including a four-point field goal for kicks over 60 yards and banning punts once a team crosses midfield, with the hosts debating whether the NFL might adopt similar ideas and joking about how it would affect Super Bowl squares. They also criticize the World team’s lack of energy, debate whether a 1-on-1 or 2-on-2 tournament could work, and agree the dunk contest was the worst in memory, brainstorming fixes like having personalities such as Shaq and Kenny “draft” and scout dunkers nationwide since superstars won’t risk losing. Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 121 – Better Not Trade Me To BYU
Big Shot Bob and the team dive deep into various hot topics in sports. Starting with a heated discussion about Clemson’s Dabo Swinney calling out other teams for tampering with his players, Big Shot Bob contends that while Dabo has a point, the NCAA’s lack of rules makes it a lawless environment. The conversation shifts to the adverse effects of the transfer portal on high school athletes' recruitment, emphasizing how the portal's existence has complicated the traditional process of getting into college sports. The episode also covers Deion Sanders' new rules at Colorado, where he implements monetary penalties for player infractions, igniting a debate on the fairness and feasibility of such fines for college athletes who may not be making significant NIL money. The hosts argue whether it’s a fair method of discipline or if it could potentially push players to transfer out. Additionally, the notion of potential trades for college players surfaces, with the crew discussing the complexities and unlikely feasibility of such trades given the current state of college athletics. Towards the end, the show explores the longevity of players in the modern NBA, citing how current stars like LeBron James and Stephen Curry continue to excel well into their late 30s and early 40s. The hosts contrast this with older generations, attributing the shift to improved fitness regimes and a more offensively driven game.
