BioStorm's Music Feed
by BioStorm
BioStorm is always inspired by the old and the new styles around him. Ever since hearing the first 303 acid dripping tracks in 1988, he travelled through time via house, techno, trance, hardcore, drum and bass, dubstep, hiphop and pop. At the age of 18 was selling his moped to buy a sampler instead the right move because. Because decades later he's still at it, working from The Netherlands, which is an actual country in Western Europa :) His philosophy is: electronic dance music DOES have a soul and comes in many forms. BioStorm is not about one style, but one universal language.

The Sentinel
Once I wrote some lyrics for spoken word describing an adventurous scene in India, the project gradually took form. The Indian percussion and chanting obviously added to the atmosphere. At the point where the celebratory vibe kicks in, the plot twist also emerges. Time for the characters to escape! But...from what?! It was protecting something that should not have been taken in the first place. Enjoy this BioStorm original uptempo storytelling track!

Scream ft. Bianca@ACE_Studio
This time - obviously! - I was going for the BioStorm Hallowoon project of 2024! This time I started with inspiration from some arps in a synth (chord notes played sequentially) and worked from that. After this I played around with some vocal melodies and decided to include one of the AI singers in the market again. First adding the melody and then wrote my own lyrics to those. When the title came up through writing the lyrics, it became clear what to do! I squeezed in all the retro horror sounds I could find from my own Roland U-110. Naturally I felt it needed distorted kick drums and snares too. Juicing it all up with grunting and other vocals like, wait is that Ghostface calling?!

Live Your Life ft. Bianca@ACE_Studio
In the beginning this track was inspired by some awesome basses from one of the plugins I own. Soon it was clear some breakbeats were needed! But hey, sticking to my eclectic self, thought it needed some hardcore kicks too. Started the track a year ago and left it alone for some time. I did pick up production around the time AI voices were getting better and better. This made me include one of the AI singers in the market. On top of that, I also wanted to use some grunting in a track. Finally that idea found its place.

Top Secret
An uptempo circus track with clowny sounds and hard kicks. It is about an indiviual who is looking for lost documents that are labeled 'top secret'.

Fire Pants
What started as wanting-to-use-a-soprano-vocal ended up being this uptempo freestyle electronic track with that specific BioStorm flavour!

Guillotine
Inspired by one of the most eclectic and fast-paced styles out-there, being Frenchcore, I decided to use French vocals in this track. Almost immediately this made me think of the French Revolution and the motto of France. Not coincidentally being the time of the horrific tool the guillotine. Early in the project the idea to use crowd noises arose. This was a nice bit of research, but in the end it also made it into the final version the way I intended. Lyrics: ===== Voices: "Liberte. Egalite. Fraternite." Voices: "Liberte. Egalite. Consume." Crowd: "Pour les gents!" Female: "Et pour vous la guillotine"

Pounding
This eclectic electronic track is an intense uptempo track about a fictional psychiatric hospital. A journalist of some type is describing the rumours about what goes on in there. Experiencing dark trips as being one of them.

Hercules
Playing around with the darker side of the harder type of techno this is - yet again - a typical BioStorm track. Tension in the track, crazy synths, hard bass and kicks, it is all there. Adding vocals here and there obviously brings the track to life. The fierce rap but also the used choir vocals really add to the story. Uptempo and hard, energetic on multiple levels!

Timekeeper
How to describe this track? Well, yet again a nice dose of BioStorm Storytelling. Taking you into another world, maybe even the next :p Like always, appreciating the uptempo. Respecting the hard kick. When it comes to the setting: more tension, more crazy soundz. More vocals, both raw and angelic for the dynamic atmosphere. It is all coming together in this track! ===Lyrics=== "Who...who...who are you?" "I am The Timekeeper. And your time is up!"

No Stress (303 Version)
===SPECIAL 303 VERSION=== While attending the online course "Art Of Music" at the Berklee College Of Music in 2017, there were a few assignments. One of them being: make and produce a song with a message. There was a lot of room for creativity and doing this in your own way. This resulted in an electronic power song with properties of the harder styles in the world. The 3 minute demo I made then, spent most of its days on my digital shelf in the studio. But there always was a force wanting me to complete it. So, this year, I finally did. Cleaned up the vocals (wanted some of it "raw" of course), improved some timing, panning, structure and levels. And here it is for others to hear! ===Lyrics=== "Sometimes I am longing for a world that is peaceful and calm." "The freedom of having no responsability for ANYthing. I'd like that." "I am SO tired of paying those bills...and taking out the trash." "ALL I want-to-do is something FUN for a change. Getting rid off the crap in my life!" "Getting rid off the stress" "Getting rid off the work" "Getting rid off the pain" "Going BZRK"

Let It Go (feat. Holly)
Going through my sound libraries had me stubble upon a nice track called "Let It Go". No, not that one :) #Frozen It was an 80 bpm track but I wanted to give it the BioStorm-treatment! Meaning more tempo, a lot of synth-power and variation. Using all the part of the lyrics (every verse and chorus)resulted in a very interesting uptempo drum and bass track where all BioStorm facets are combined. With many thanks to Holly who once recorded her vocals onto the sound library!

Electricity
You may realize, or maybe you do not. But electricity is found throughout the human body. The flow of charged ions causes your heart to beat and your muscles to contract. But nowhere in the body is electrical activity better documented than the brain, which contains roughly a hundred billion electrically conductive, biological wires. These facts inspired to create this dark story about scientists researching the field. The result being this moody, philosophical hardcore/hardstyle track at 150 bpm. Containing all unique BioStorm features. Like for example the custom vocals, atmosphere sounds, fx and combination of instruments. It took a while to make, the concept is from early 2017. In the meantime changed from DAW (Digital Audio Workstation), which forced me to transplant the track from one machine to another. That was causing a bit of a learning curve also, all just great fun. Being determined to finish the track and tell the story as best as possible: here it finally is! ===Lyrics=== "Dark, dark, dark, dark, dark, dark, dark...forever" "It is a well-known fact that our scientists, have been studying the human brain for yeeears" "They discovered that all brain activity is actually made of, and powered by, electricity in the brain" "Just imagine, it powers your deepest thoughts, actions and emotions, it is essential for life" "But it's not aallll fun and games, because of one dark simple fact" "Remember, when electricity stops, it will be dark...forever"

Exotic Soundz
After finishing and releasing the fourth BioStorm album, creativity did not stop there! With this track BioStorm is once again at it, with uptempo, ethnic and rave inspired sounds. Combined together in a sauce of breakbeats. ===Lyrics=== "Exotic Soundz are all around you" "So listen closely and feel the heat" "Now: move!"

Calculated Risk
During my eternal search for cool vocals, I once more deciced to make my own, see the lyrics below. Being a big fan of dark uptempo breakbeats I decided to go drum and bass on this one. Meaning: crazy atmospheres, synths and basses. This will probably the last track on my fourth album. Be sure to check them all out! And let me know what y'all think. TIA. ===Lyrics=== "When dealing with challenges" "Humans often use improvisation" "They apply a certain degree of calculated risk" "Which results in failure or worse"

Sound Of '88
Fooling around with some 808 percussion and sounds from the Juno synth, gave me the idea to go back in time! Always being influenced by "my house roots" back in the day, I wanted the entire atmosphere to be just that. Using the 303 in the typical way made it work. Leaving out some cheesy vocals this time, but adding cool ones kept me on track. Did the whole melodic vocoder thing, which fit in nicely I think. Remarks, comments, likes or downloads are very welcome! Enjoy the time travel! ;) ===Lyrics=== "This is the sound of '88" "Jackin' to the beat is sooo sweet"

Das Tempo
This track was based on experimentation with multiple fx on a 909 kick. Once I had a dry and more "spring" sounding kick, I went with some distorted lead sounds. Cheering it all up with a breakbeat :) Once I had an idea for the vocals, being "German lyrics", I came up with the theme of "tempo". This also meant I "had" to put in a tempo-difference of course. Oh, and a metronome! Also wanted to use a distorted 303 sample in a non-303 way. This was also added to the mix. As well as some wobble and other nice filling sounds. Fooled around with a few buildups, and here it is!

Number One
Back in the year 2013 - yes that is a long time ago... - I started this track. Obviously trap music, with a snap, heavy 808 kick, snare bursts etc. Left it alone for a while then. Picked it up last December! Doing so, it soon became exotic, using lofi and hifi brass. On top of that I found a catchy electro bass in a homemade custom synth I always wanted to use (the Fatman). That sound is used in many ways here. From brass came more brass :)But the track also needed some distorted kicks and synths I figured, so added a 909 kick and a Juno polysynth. Oh, and there's some vocal work too! Had to write something "fitting". Listen to it and let me know what you think! Comments, shares and downloads are very welcome. TIA! ===Lyrics=== "Shoutout to the Massive, he King of the Dancehall Selecta" "Bringing da Beats, them Big Round Wiggling Booty Stylee" "Booya da Beenie Man Is Number One"

8-bit Countdown
So, here's another drum & bass track, finally, again! ;)An uptempo track with some 8-bit inspiration and crazy sounds. This time started with a distorted guitar sound in a melody. From that went playing with FX, timestretches and wobbles. But also some violins, choir and brass for dramatic effect. Personally quite pleased with the end product. Drop me a line, tell me what you think! TIA ===Lyrics=== "Let the 8-bit countdown commence" "8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, zero, lift-off"

1001 Nights
I have been waiting to try an ethnic set of percussion for a while now. This track is powered by it! Oh, and don't forget the flute. Intentionally wanted them to sound lo-fi somehow, think I managed that. Adding a custom BioStorm vocal, of course! ;) Also played around with some distorted guitar sounds and managed to add them to the mix. Teaming them up with some synths while at it. I did not forget the trustworthy Roland-machines from 101 through the 909, so you might hear those too here or there. Well, give it a listen. Comments, downloads or sharing are very welcome!

741 Feet Deep
A dark hard dance track about the gates of hell. Or so I have been told :p (by a person with lyrics below) This little thing was inspired by a movie, this happens sometimes. Of course, I always like the choir-sound in hardcore tracks and tension of the darker tales! ;) So, this basically started with text I had written after seeing the movie. The basis of the track being the choir, kick and recorded custom(!)vocals. Being a perfectionist, it took me a while to clean it up and get the levels the way I wanted. Did succeed though and happy to share now! What y'all think?! ===Lyrics=== "Abandon all hope." "For many years, people believed that hell was located below our feet." "Into the earth's crust, not even that far, just 741 feet deep." "Hell would be easy to recoqnize with a sign above the entrance." "And the sign would tell all visitors: 'Abandon all hope. Ye who enter here.'" "741 Feet Deep." "What about the metric system?!" ;)

Happy vocal garage house track with a 2step rhythm. Featuring an unknown singer on it. Male or female, who knows :)

Your Days Are Numbered
Another manic dark atmosphered track from the BioStorm kitchen! Inspired by the title I thought up first. Having the 'number' theme of the upcoming fourth album. Started with adding harp, bell, synth and of course the beat. Oh, don't forget the scream and choir for dramatic effect. Been tweaking it for a while now. Do think of it as a little earworm myself. Enjoy! Comments are welcome! TIA

Two Islands
An ambient track like back in the day! Inspired by the concept of being on an island with nothing else but waves and other soothing and relaxing sounds. The windchime and vocals are custom made. The rest was altered to fit into the plan. Couldn't completely leave out the beats!

Count Dracula
Presenting a dubstep showcase with lots of variation from rough to funky and even happy! Join me on an adventure into the mind of BioStorm! First I made up the title in this case, being related to the number -theme of BioStorm album "F0ur". Then the vocals and atmosphere came. Soon added the cheesy organ. Percussion and tempo becoming dubsteppy. The entire time longing for some 8bit flavours and growls and sweeps, so I added more and more. Quite the process, but I am pleased with what it became. At some point you have to let go. Hope you'll enjoy!

Digits
Now, here's the concept. Some spacey setting with digits floating around in space. What digits are is not important right now :) What is important, is that it started as a 16 bar project, fitting different instruments in melody together. Once that was done, spreading it into a 5 minute arrangement. Couldn't help myself putting in some heavier stuff in the middle. Experimenting with a subkick and lead synth. In some bizarre note combinations I think.

Sum Of All Fears
Uptempo industrial experimental drum & bass with a slight claustrofobic taste to it :p Started with an eerie sound and an industrial snare. Went from there. Synths, basses, custom made vocals and perc, the works.

One Of Us
Inspired by the sound of the xylophone, with some imagination sounding like Skulls and Bones, decided to have myself another creepy setting around a secret society known by the same name. Even though the basic ingredients were easily done, I also wanted to play around with the big room sound. Blending the two proved to be quite the challenge! But here it is.

Equation
Once again time for some drum & bass violence! One of the styles BioStorm's loyal to. Intentionally many different influences all over this track though. Making tracks never starts the same way. This one did by starting with the suspense intro, but soon enough the spacey synth and filthy wobbles would find their place. Being a big fan of whining sounds and breakbeats, couldn't leave them out of course. And even though I already had written the vocals, added them last. Nuff talkin' check the result!
