OHSAA Director of Media Relations Tim Stried on the change from 16 teams per region to 12 for this upcoming season.

OHSAA Director of Media Relations Tim Stried joins Lynn Groll and Tory Strock to answer some tough questions surrounding the organization. He touches on a recent OHSAA football survey sent to coaches, ADs and principals seeking input on the current playoff format and if a change could happen? Stried also answers OHSAA revenue sharing questions, the return to a traditional basketball Final 4, along with much more.

Black Swamp Football tackles the hot-button topic of Ohio's football playoffs with a four-part series on the six-week playoff format.  The Ohio High School Football Coaches Association pushed for a 12-team regional starting in 2021 but the proposal was not accepted by the OHSAA.  In this first episode, Lynn Groll and Scott Barrett are joined by Patrick Henry head coach Bill Inselmann, Delta head coach Mike Vicars and Eastwood head coach Sam Cotterman.  The four-part series on the state of Ohio's high school football playoffs will feature a segment with administrators/athletic directors, another with physicians and athletic trainers and another episode will feature basketball coaches and the impact a long football season has on basketball. 

Former Patrick Henry great Marc Krauss joins this episode. After winning a state football championship at PH in 2005 and also excelling on the baseball diamond, he played college baseball at Ohio University. He was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the second round of the 2009 MLB Draft and made his MLB debut with the Houston Astros in 2013. He also played for the Angels, Rays and Tigers.

The Black Swamp crew looks back at the girls state championships and this week's boys state championships while also breaking down the NCAA Tournament. 

Former Miller City headman and current Ottawa-Glandorf assistant Kevin McGlaughlin joins this week's show along with his son, Tyson, who starred on the hardwood at O-G and the University of Findlay. He coached for two years at Miller City before taking over at O-G in 2011, where he has enjoyed an illustrious coaching career.  

Bowsher product Dennis Hopson joins this week's show. After an outstanding career at Bowsher, Hopson scored the most points in Ohio State history before being drafted with the third pick in the 1987 NBA Draft.

Jerry Snodgrass joins Lynn Groll and Tory Strock. He spent time at Defiance, Ridgedale, Bryan and Findlay while also serving as the executive director at the OHSAA. 

Lima Central Catholic legend Bob Seggerson joins the show this week to talk about his illustrious career, which included six trips to the Final Four and concluded with a state championship in 2010. 

This week's roundball podcast presented by The Gerken Companies will feature state champion Brandon Pardon, who helped Lincolnview to the 1997 state championship during a perfect 27-0 season. The Lancers finished as state runner-up the year before at 26-1, falling to Mr. Basketball Jason Collier and Springfield Catholic Central. Pardon then had a successful college career at Wright State and Bowling Green and two-year career in Europe. 

Ron Niekamp is the featured guest this week with Lynn Groll, Tory Strock and Dave Krauss. Niekamp wa a St. Henry graduate before playing collegiately at the University of Miami. He started his coaching career at Parkway before taking over Ottawa-Glandorf for five seasons, which included Final Four trips in 1977 and 1978. His last stop before joining the college ranks was a six-year stint at Lima Senior which reached the state tourney in 1982. His high school record was 208-86. Niekamp then became headman at the Univesity of Findlay for 26 years, posting an impressive 598-185 mark, highlighted by a perfect 36-0 national championship season in 2008-09. Krauss was an assistant on the national championship team. 

Former St. John's Jesuit standouts John and Mike Floyd join Lynn Groll and Dave Krauss. John played college basketball at Oakland and Bowling Green and now serves as a college basketball official. He has officiated around the country, including in the NCAA Tournament. Mike played college basketball at Defiance College and now is the head coach at Central Catholic High School. 

Findlay area coaching legends Steve Williman and Jim Rucki join Lynn Groll, Tory Strock and Dave Krauss to discuss their careers on the hardwood.
