Blood Orange: We are SO Pretentious

We are Caitlin and Christina and we’re going to be watching Project Runway and breaking down our favorite outfits and fashion catastrophes starting from the very beginning.

  1. 131

It's finally time for the season 10 finale! Really!

We're back from a short break in which we've still been recording episodes but I haven't been uploading them because we had to change the program we recorded and it's become obnoxious to edit. So anyway, yay for the season 10 finale part 1! In which Tim Gunn travels around the country to visit the finalists and the judges see their mini collections and decide which of them will go on to show at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week.We also talk about why Caitlins name isn't Caity, what we did for St. Patricks day, early 2000s high school fashion, federal monuments, Sacramento museums and things to do on the weekend, cyber trucks, road rage, news stories and politics from 2025, sorry, lol, Vivian Wilson, rent in San Francisco and we STILL didn't get a Blood Orange clip. How Rude.

  2. 130

Are We Really That Pretentious Afterall?

Today we watched Season 10 Episode 12 of Project Runway and we had to tragically change how we record... so now we have video? That's not intentional and I have no idea if it's going to last. It should have been our moment but our moment was cut out. Devastated.

  3. 129

They say never work with kids or animals

We're back from an extended break and on todays Project Runway the designers are making clothes for babies. We also compare Trump to Henry the 8th, talk time travel, Jurassic Park, a wide variety of random tv shows, babies r us, home ev classes, robot babies, maternal mortality and abortion bans, and finally camping tents. We probably talk about other stuff too but I was busy and stopped taking notes for the description. Suffice to say this is a big one of tangents.

  4. 128

    Quick talk about ANYthing else.

Today we fully intended to talk about season 10 episode 10 of Project Runway, the one where the designers were challenged to make a new costume for the Rockettes, but in reality we just went on hundreds of tangents and instead talked about: Folsom Zoo, Folsom Prison, Tory Amos, Kate Bush, Lady Gaga, high school cliques, Magic the Gathering, Pokemon, Debra Messing, Traitors, among other things.

  5. 127

    And We're Back, Back Again.

Today we're talking about season 10 episode 9 of Project Runway, this is this seasons textile challenge! And Mondo back to help and judge. We also talk about the newest season of Project Runway, must about changing the topic of the podcast entirely, the fate of Tiktok, geography, and books.

  6. 126

Half Project Runway, Half Doom and Gloom

This week we watched Season 10 episode 8 of Project Runway. The designers were sent out into the street to earn their own money to fund this weeks design. Trigger warning: This was recorded in February and during the second half we talk about "current events" such as prices going up, Canada, trade wars, politics, philosophy, immigration, nazi salutes, birth right citizenship, Hank Green, Selena Gomez, contacting our representatives, etc etc etcWe also go on a couple other tangents: our own negotiating skills, a person we knew passing away, tie-dyeing.

  7. 125

Are millennials wearing Lord & Taylor?

Trigger warning: at around the 39 minute mark there is a several minute discussion about disordered eating. We've watched season 10 episode 7 of Project Runway, they're designing for Lord & Taylor. There's minimal drama and we go on lots of tangents.Such as: America's Next Top Model, the book podcast that could have been, The Handmaids Tale, baking donuts, the train museum in Sacramento, miniatures, train rids, and our plan to blame Elon Musk.

  8. 124

We recorded this on January 19th and had feelings.

It's season 10 episode 6 of Project Runway, it was the l'oreal hair challenge and Project Runway had people nominate their most fashionable challenged friends to get a make over.Tangents - toxic reality tv shows, what we're currently reading, our favorite books of 2024, Chappell Roan. Also, important: Trigger warning for a lot of political talk. We recorded this the day before the inauguration and right now the government is terrible and people are being hurt. We talk about that a lot.

  9. 123

We were really worried about losing Tiktok when we recorded this.

This episode we watched season 10 episode 5 of Project Runway. It was a team challenge and the designers were challenged with creating a cohesive line to be photographed for Marie Claire at Work. We also do a throwback to two episodes ago and read some commentary from Laura Bennet's blog.Tangents- going viral, losing tiktok, ai social media accounts and internet literacy.

  10. 122

Remind me what a flagship is.

We're watching season 10 episode 4 of Project Runway and the designers are dropping like flies. In the meantime, they visit the Michael Kors flagship store and are told they'll be designing for the woman on the go.We also talk about: The Roseville Gallery and other malls, Shien, thrift stores, the Olsen twins and what books we're reading.

  11. 121

    Oh no... Kenley is back.

As we struggle through learning all these new contestants names, on Episode 3 of season 10, the challenge brings back a few familiar faces as clients. The designers are challenged with designing a look for their client to wear on the red carpet. We also talk about The Real World and it's spin offs, how reality tv killed sitcoms, and is tiktok really going away?

  12. 120

Sweeter than Candy on a Stick

Digging into Season 10 of Project Runway, we're back with episode 2. The designers are let loose in a candy store. We also talk about America's Next Top Model, The Real World, the Tiktok ban, Spotify Wrapped, and various podcasts we like (other than this one of course)

  13. 119

    It's happening. We're finally on season 10.

We thought it would never happen but we have officially made it to the Blood Orange season, prepare to be disappointed. We go over who the new designers are and who we recognize. Tangents - Fabio is a freegan and we talk about dumpster diving and food banks, we try to remember what we were doing in 2012, the Barbie movie, cyber trucks, Sabrina Carpenter, Miwok books at Chaw'se, thanksgiving plants (ok I'm a bit behind on posting)

  14. 118

    The Season 9 Decoy Collections

In a special bonus video episode, we take a look at the season 9 decoy collections from Laura, Bert, Olivier, Anthony Ryan and Bryce. There were a lot of highs and lows here.

  15. 117

When the inspiration could be anything, who decides where to stop?

The final challenge in season 9 of Project Runway. The designers head off to Governors island and i skim the wikipedia page to give us a rundown of what Governors island actually is for those of us on the west coast. Some past contestants are back and we also talk about Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

  16. 116

This one is for the birds.

Season 9 episode 11 of Project Runway was a L'oreal challenge, and the designers need to be inspired by birds. Very specific birds which are assigned to them. We also talk about The Real World and other reality tv shows and then we end talking about the Franklin Expedition Cruise and other ways we would spend a billion dollars.

  17. 115

These space cadets are far out, can you dig it?

Project Runway had a flash back to the 70s with Season 9 episode 10. The designers had to design something with a sophisticated 70s style. We went on very few tangents, thus the short episode but we do talk about the preview for next week which seems to be for the birds.

  18. 114

This was mostly an excuse for us to talk about Adam Lambert

On season 9 episode 9 of Project Runway the designers were introduced to Canadian rock band The Sheepdogs and challenged with giving them a new look. It went about as well as you'd expect. We also chat about several random moments from pop culture, Lady Gaga, Adam Lambert, Kid Rock, gambling, various concerts we've gone to among other things.

  19. 113

Give em the old bait and switch

For this episode we watched season 9 episode 8 of Project Runway, the designers are introduced to some men who want to design an outfit for their partners. we also talk about color theory in fashion and make up, 27 dresses, and northern California caves and adventure parks.

  20. 112

Its giving groups and fabric and diy

You know the routine. We watched season 9 episode 7 of project runway and then we talked about it. The designers were divided into teams and designed their own fabric for this We also go on a short tangent where Caitlin talks about the time she was traumatized in christian school.

  21. 111

We usually expect better and this time is no different.

Season 9 episode 6 of Project Runway was an avant-garde challenge. The designers were paired up with art students and worked jointly on a painting to use for inspiration. Then we talk about how old the kids we know are and our plans to not go to our 20th high school reunion.

  22. 110

    Remember when Heidi sold sneakers?

Today we're talking about the Project Runway episode where the designers are made to run a race and one of them faints. We also talk about our short ancient history as youtubers, Jedward, Angelina Jolie, and Harvey Weinstein (briefly). We go over some silly facebook memories and Caitlin talks about the Real World.

  23. 109

Nina Garcia was nicer than we expected

We're chatting about season 9 episode 4 of Project Runway, the designers were challenged to make a look for Nina Garcia. We must have been running late or something because our only tangent is near the end when Caitlin somehow breaks Skype.

  24. 108

We had high hopes for this episode, pun intended

Season 9 episode 3 and is it any wonder this season feels so long? We recorded this back in June! facepalm. The models are all on stilts and for the first time the final runway was in front of a public audience. We also talk about open casting calls, hells kitchen, the time we were in a music video, the sound of music, and disneyland.

  25. 107

Things get weird early this season

It's only the second episode of season 9 and the Project Runway designers are already doing the unconventional challenge and this one takes place as a pet supply store. We also talk about rabbit reproduction, buying a house, lizard feet, burning man outfits, gluing a car back together, school trips, Godzilla, whales, and we muse for a while (I cut most of it out) on the meaning of the iron cross.

  26. 106

There's a bunch of new people in the work room.

It's season 9 of Project Runway and the judges throw a Come as You Are Party for the designers, then make them use their sleepwear as the material for their first challenge. We also do a bit of a throwback and talk about what was happening in our lives when this season aired the first time and Caitlin talks about her birthday trip to Lake Tahoe.

  27. 105

    We're finished with season 8! Let's Celebrate!

We made it to the finale, was Gretchen vindicated in the end? We talk about which designers lived up to their Project Runway reputations, and which haven't. We also wander off on tangents about twins, Russell Brand sucking, Doctor Who, and Queer as Folk.

  28. 104

Love to see a successful designer

It's the Project Runway season 8 finale (part 1) and the judges are whittling down this season's contestants for the last time. When we aren't talking about Michael C's brilliant final look, we chat about investing in real estate vs paying rent, the show The Little Couple on TLC, and a few legendary local houses in our small town (did someone say helicopter pad?)

  29. 103

How do you define a landmark?

We're talking about Project Runway again. This time it's season 8 episode 12 and the designers were challenged to design a look inspired by a New York City landmark. We also talk about spell check, math, gambling, and Disneyland.

  30. 102

The Cringe is Heavy in this one.

We have a short episode for you this week. We chat about season 8 episode 11 of Project Runway. The one where Heidi has an athleisure line with New Balance. There was also a shocking accusation of cheating among the designers.

  31. 101

    Be kind, rewind.

We're chatting about everything going on in our lives and somehow also find time to talk about Season 8 Episode 10 of Project Runway. The designers were challenged to make their own fabric for their designs. Side quests include: the Golden State killer, the 99-cent store closing sale, Mac vs Microsoft, whale watching, Disneyland, and the concept of prank videos.

  32. 100

Some days, We Just Talk About Books.

We're reviewing Season 8 episode 9 of Project Runway. The designers were challenged to design a high-fashion look which is inspired by L'oreal eyeshadow. That's some prominent product placement, they must have paid a fortune. We also chit-chat about saving vs spending money, the Franklin expedition, smelly Elizabethans, whale watching, and books. Books we've read, books we are reading, and books we want to read.

  33. 99

Being a Kennedy used to mean something!

The designers on Project Runway were challenged with designing a piece of classic American sportswear ala Jackie O in season 8 episode 8. We also go off on tangents and chat about the Kennedys in general, ventriloquist dummies, fandom, celebrity gossip, and paparazzi.

  34. 98

It's the resort darling, what can it cost? $5?

It's that time of the season, (Season 8 episode 7) the Michael Kors challenge. He challenges the designers to make resort wear, and, gasp! it's a partner challenge, much to the chagrin of the designers. Then Caitlin tells a story about a guy who was staying at the resort she went to for her honeymoon, we talk about sending postcards home from Burning Man, and Christina tries to convince Caitlin of the existence of magic wrap skirts.

  35. 97

    Always a bridesmaid

Today we chat about season 8 episode 6 of Project Runway. The designers were challenged to redesign some awful bridesmaids' dresses into new runway-ready looks. We also spend a few minutes ranting about the modern state of streaming services.

  36. 96

    You Didn't See Anything

It's a team challenge! Season 8 episode 5 of Project Runway got a little dramatic. Maybe we'll finally figure out why everyone hates Gretchen? hmmm....

  37. 95

    Let's plan a party

It's the season 8 unconventional challenge! Woo! The designers visit a party supply store for their supplies. We also spend the first 10 or 15 minutes talking about various other old reality TV shows.

  38. 94

This Podcast was made for Tangents

We're chatting about season 8 episode 2 of Project Runway, the designers were challenged to design a look for the Marie Claire woman. We also talk about how Caitlin has finally quit her Real World rewatch, how you don't own digital files, Burning Man, Las Vegas, and America's Next Top Model.

  39. 93

    Let's Argue About Season 8

We thought we had finally made it to our namesake, the blood orange season, but we still have 2 more to go. However, this leads us to debate for the first 8 minutes about whether Michael Costello and Christopher Palu are the same person. Then we talk about the new cast of designers. Their first challenge is the shortest in Project Runway history. We also talk about dogs.

  40. 92

It's the final finale of season 7

Yeah, we're still talking about Project Runway. Today it's the season 7 finale runway shows. We also get an update on Caitlins' Real World rewatch. Talk about Bridget Jones Diary and the 90s heroine chic. What happens in the Big Brother house during huge current events? The Drew Carey Show and how it affected the blue eyeshadow industry. Cyclical fashion. And inspired by her presence as guest judge, we look up what Faith Hill is up to these days.

  41. 91

Tangents are both of our middle names

It's part one of the season 7 finale of Project Runway. Tim Gunn has his feet swept out from under him when he visits the designers at home to see the progress they've made on their final collections. Then, the judges decide whether Jay or Mila will make it to Bryant Park. We also talk about several teachers we loved and/or hated from high school, credit scores, dogs getting loose, and a little bit about how many old classmates are now in jail. I had to edit out so many names. We're terrible at staying on topic.

  42. 90

All Eyes on me in the Center of the Ring

We're talking about season 7 episode 12 of Project Runway. The designers are taken to the Ringling Brothers circus to watch a show and look for inspiration. We also talk about waking up early, rye bread, Real World Colorado, the Weinstein Company and some of the stuff they own, Michael Jackson, and Britney Spears Circus. We also consider that maybe we should have made a podcast about dogs after talking about them for quite awhile. Really. We talked about dogs for so long that I cut out about 10 minutes of it.

  43. 89

On the list of difficult celebrities...

We're talking about season 7 episode 11 of Project Runway, the designers were challenged with designing a look for a difficult celebrity: Heidi. Of course, did anyone really expect it to be anyone else? We also talk about Jessica Alba, Never Been Kissed, Real World, Paramount Plus, and Halloween.

  44. 88

I'm inspired by air, not pencils.

Today we chat about season 7 episode 10 of Project Runway. The designers were tasked with designing their own fabric for this week's look so they went to work on their HP computers and HP tablets and printed test prints on a giant HP printer. I wonder who sponsored this episode? We also went on a tangent where we talked about how we used to write stories back in the day and how Caitlin would make Christina do all the typing, she wrote while typing this episode description ;P

  45. 87

    We're still here!

It's Project Runway time! We watched Season 7 episode 9 and the designers were challenged to create a look inspired by a NYC neighborhood. The preview made it look like this would be a super dramatic episode. We also talk about the ad rolls we get while watching Project Runway on Tubi vs on Amazon Prime. We quickly realize we don't remember the eliminated designers from earlier this season but season 8 is almost here so who cares? Then we talk about Boy Meets World and Molly Sims.

  46. 86

We don't have to remember Ben anymore.

We're chatting about Season 7 episode 8 of Project Runway, the designers have to use the four elements as their inspirations and a couple of them actually did. Any we wouldn't be us if we didn't waste time going off on tangents so we also talk about The Hunger Games, sunblock, Sunday work emails, dressing silly in SF, going to see Harry and the Potters, remembering embarrassing moments, Quiznos, and winning radio contests.

  47. 85

If you had to get dressed in Ace Hardware, what would you wear?

It's the unconventional challenge! We're talking about Project Runway season 7 episode 7 and the designers were challenged with making their outfits out of items found in a hardware store. And we know everyone is talking about Burning Man but we're not talking about it. Not really. Okay, we talk about it. We also talk about finding purses for cheap at rummage sales, Mystery Science Theater 3000 and cheesy old movies, Killers of the Flower Moon, and for the first time in all of season 7... Caitlin remembers Janeane's name... now that she's been eliminated. Oops.

  48. 84

Don't worry Jonathan, I'm afraid of kids too.

This week we watched season 7 episode 6 of Project Runway. The designers had to work for kids, yikes! And some of them are pretty worried. We also go on many tangents, including Halloween costumes, jelly shoes, the Spice Girls, NSYNC, the history of cell phones, and the fact that we aren't at Burning Man this week.

  49. 83

It's the Golden Age of Project Runway Judge Insults.

We're back with season 7 episode 5 of Project Runway and the judges really ripped the designers apart this week! Ouch! We also talk about the declining quality of Seventeen magazine and stumble onto some more recent Project Runway gossip... what did Anna Zhou do? We're still not sure.

  50. 82

Shhhhhh We've been on Summer break. ;)

And we're back with Season 7 episode 4 of Project Runway. It's the soup episode. The designers are challenged to make a Campbell's soup dressed for Campbell's heart disease awareness campaign. Imagine red dresses with soup can trim and lots of talks about heart surgery and you'll get the gist of this episode. We also talk about the Try Guys, Chernobyl, the OJ Trial, and getting chased by a Gopher. Oh yeah, and who's Ben, again?
