One of horror's most influential filmmakers joins Bloody Good Horror. Eli Roth sits down with us to discuss his upcoming film, Ice Cream Man, while looking back on the era that transformed modern horror. From Cabin Fever and Hostel to the rise of the Splat Pack, Eli reflects on how horror broke into the mainstream and what it was like to be at the center of it all. The Omen at 50: The horror movie that captured America's fears... and still does
This week, Bloody Good Horror celebrates the 50th anniversary of The Omen. Rather than simply revisiting a horror classic, we explore the cultural moment that gave birth to one of the most influential supernatural films ever made. We discuss Richard Donner's classic Hollywood direction, Jerry Goldsmith's iconic score, Damian's chilling and enduring legacy, and why the fears driving The Omen in 1976 feel surprisingly relevant today. Plus, we revisit what still works, what hasn't aged as well, and whether The Omen deserves its place among horror's all-time greats. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Evil Dead Burn review | What is a modern Evil Dead movie?
The Evil Dead franchise returns with Evil Dead Burn, and we have plenty to say. We review the newest chapter in the series, compare it to Evil Dead (2013) and Evil Dead Rise, debate whether the franchise has lost some of the personality that made the originals so memorable, the film's intense bleakness, and discuss where we'd like to see the series go next. Plus, behind the scenes on some of the film's boldest choices, and the crew pays tribute to horror legend Sam Neill. Why The Evil Dead (1981) is still the blueprint for indie horror
Nearly 45 years after its release, Sam Raimi's The Evil Dead remains one of horror's most influential films. We revisit the original with fresh eyes, exploring why it still feels punk and transgressive, why it remains one of the greatest examples of low-budget horror filmmaking ever put on screen, and why it's unexpectedly relevant during a summer where filmmakers like Kane Parsons and Curry Barker are once again redefining independent horror. Romero's closest creative collaborators during one of the most influential periods in horror history. Leviticus Review | Does the horror work as well as the message?
The Bloody Good Horror crew reviews “Leviticus”, one of the year's most talked-about indie horror films—sparking one of our deepest (and most divided) discussions in recent memory. While the panel agrees that “Leviticus” has powerful things to say about identity, faith, and the queer experience, opinions split on a key question: "Does the horror itself work as well as the metaphor?" We also discuss how horror can build empathy, why ”Leviticus” stands out as a powerful allegory for conversion therapy, and whether emotional resonance can outweigh traditional scares. Rachel shares her perspective on why stories like this matter, while the panel explores where the film succeeds, where it falls short, and why it has become such a significant entry in modern queer horror. We also recommend other standout queer horror films, catch up on the week's horror news, and wrap things up with a round of Jaws trivia in celebration of one of the genre's all-time 4th of July horror classics. Leviticus is a 2026 Australian supernatural horror film written and directed by Adrian Chiarella and starring Joe Bird, Stacy Clausen, Mia Wasikowska, Nicholas Hope, and Ewen Leslie. The film follows two gay teenagers whose relationship is haunted by a supernatural force born from their religious community's intolerance. Learn more about your ad choices. Disclosure Day is out of touch. Plus, would the modern world even blink at aliens?
This week the BGH crew emerges from the theater to review Steven Spielberg’s “Disclosure Day”, and along the way asks the question; What happens when an 80 year old tries to say something profound and completely misses the mark? We also talk about tall greys, our own feelings on aliens and whether or not the world would even blink twice if someone actually attempted full disclosure. Disclosure Day is a 2026 American science fiction thriller film directed and produced by Steven Spielberg from a screenplay by David Koepp, based on a story by Spielberg. The film stars an ensemble cast, including Emily Blunt, Josh O'Connor, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, and Colman Domingo. As the world stands poised on the brink of World War III, cybersecurity specialist Dr. Daniel Kellner steals from the Wardex Corporation, a secret arm of the U.S. government, a piece of extraterrestrial technology and related files, detailing various events of human–alien contact dating back to the Roswell incident. Wardex CEO Noah Scanlon discovers the theft and has Daniel branded a foreign spy, making him the target of federal authorities. Do the Wayans brothers actually LIKE horror? Scary Movie (2026) and what makes a GOOD horror parody
This week we’re reviewing the return of the Scary Movie franchise. We discuss the endless list of dated references, significant time spent on non-horror movies, the Wayans penchant for punching down, and whether or not Gen X are the new Boomers. Plus, what makes a truly great horror parody, and what films SHOULD you check out? Racheld drops some truly mind blowing trivia about the original scary movie, and we debate what’s maybe the most important question, do the Wayans brothers actually LIKE horror movies? Scary Movie (AKA Scary Movie 6) is an upcoming American horror-parody film directed by Michael Tiddes and written by Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Keenen Ivory Wayans, Craig Wayans, and Rick Alvarez. Backrooms terrifies while destroying at the box office, plus Ice Cream man disgusts | Bloody Good Horror Review
BGH enters the liminal this week as we review 20-year-old Kane Parson’s “Backrooms”, the film that’s been slaughtering the competition at the box office this summer. We discuss the liminal horror movement and its ties to Gen Z anxieties, the movie versus the web series, found footage, cameos, trivia and more. Passenger falls short, while Obsession breaks records | Bloody Good Horror Review
This week the BGH crew hits the open road with the aggressively mediocre horror film “Passenger”. We discuss the hobo code, jump scares, the logic leaps, the "van life" cliches, and the very Buhguul-like demon. Plus, Obsession has a record breaking week two at the box office, and we dip our toes into the online mythos behind “Backrooms”, ahead of next week’s release. A few weeks into their van life adventure, a young couple witnesses a horrific accident that leaves the driver dead. Soon they're being pursued by a demonic stalker who's impossible to outrun and follows them wherever they go. Obsession, scariest film of the year? | BGH Review
Is Obsession the scariest horror film of the year? We dive into the new release from Youtuber turned horror dynamo Curry Barker, including his exploration of Gen Z social and dating struggles, the film’s ties to “Incel Horror”, and why Obsession’s original ending was MUCH darker. One programming note, we are trying to keep the initial “round table” section spoiler free for those who want a quick view of the film without spoilers. Keep in mind that after that, we open up the discussion to the entirety of the film. Obsession is a 2025 American supernatural horror film written, directed, and edited by Curry Barker. The film follows Bear (played by Michael Johnston), a music store employee who buys a supernatural toy and wishes for his childhood friend Nikki (Inde Navarrette) to fall in love with him. Frogman Returns director Anthony Cousins | Interview
Anthony Cousins won over found footage horror fans big time in 2023 with his ode to Ohio's famous cryptid, the aptly titled "Frogman". Since then, Anthony and his indie film have amassed a cult following, that has even lead to the establishment of a Frogman convention in Loveland Ohio, the real life home of the mysterious creature. As momentum builds around Frogman, Anthony and crew are currently traveling the country screening its sequel, "Frogman Returns" for festival audiences, and garnering positive reviews along the way. Rachel and Eric sat down with Anthony recently to chat about the unlikely influences behind Frogman Returns, the trials and tribulations of shooting on authentic retro cameras, and dealing with his own legacy as "The Frogman Guy". ----- Support Bloody Good Horror, gain live stream access, join our Slack and get the entire back catalog by visiting us at: https://www.patreon.com/bloodygoodhorror BGH on social media https://www.instagram.com/bloodygoodhorror/ https://www.threads.com/@bloodygoodhorror Learn more about your ad choices. A horror film powered by millennial angst, "Buffet Infinity" | Simon Glassman Interview
Rachel sits down with Canadian Director Simon Glassman to discuss his surrealistic, cosmic horror comedy Buffet Infinity. A profoundly original film that weaves millennial nostalgia for local cable commercials into a terrifying and hilarious battle over business and the fate of reality itself. The film hits streaming May 8th, 2026 after a small theatrical run. Topics covered include the cosmic horror of AI, why he kept the full movie from the cast until it was released, and why “Buffet Infinity” scratches that conspiratorial itch without all of the baggage. Plus, what Glassman is up to next. “Buffet Infinity” is a Canadian satirical comedy horror film, directed by Simon Glassman. A satire of consumerism inspired by Second City Television and told entirely through mock television commercials instead of conventional narrative, the film centres on the fictional Westridge County in Alberta, where two restaurants are fighting each other for dominance, spawning cults and sinkholes and other apocalyptic consequences Support Bloody Good Horror, gain live stream access, join our Slack and get the entire back catalog by visiting us at: https://www.patreon.com/bloodygoodhorror BGH on social media https://www.instagram.com/bloodygoodhorror/ https://www.threads.com/@bloodygoodhorror Learn more about your ad choices. More than a remake - “Faces of Death” (2026) horror review
This week, the BGH gang dives into the meta slasher “Faces of Death” (2026)—a surprisingly entertaining meditation on online violence and its consumption. Inspired by one of the most notorious shockumentaries ever made, this modern horror film explores the blurred line between reality and exploitation. Along the way, the crew breaks down why Dacre Montgomery's generic handsomeness is actually terrifying, explores the hosts and live viewers experiences with the original shocker, and discusses why content moderation is the scariest job in America. Then things get spicy when Rachel brings up the AI-generated Val Kilmer film nobody asked for. “Faces of Death” is a 2026 American horror film and a reimagining of the infamous 1978 film of the same name. Directed by Daniel Goldhaber (Cam) and co-written with Isa Mazzei (Cam), it stars Barbie Ferreira, Dacre Montgomery, Josie Totah, Aaron Holliday, Jermaine Fowler, and Charli XCX.
