Darren Hill returns to the show to talk about the new live Red Rockers album, recorded at Tipitina's in the band's hometown of New Orleans, Louisiana, in 2023.The Red Rockers were a New Orleans punk/new wave band formed in 1979 by John Thomas Griffith, James Singletary, and Darren Hill, who took their name from a song by California punk band The Dils. Early on they earned the nickname "America's Clash" for their politically charged debut Condition Red (1981), and even opened for The Clash on a Louisiana/Texas tour in 1982. Signing with San Francisco's 415 Records, they relocated and overhauled their sound, scoring their biggest hit with the new wave single "China" in 1983, which reached #19 on the Mainstream Rock chart and received heavy MTV rotation. Internal tensions over their commercial shift led to lineup changes and a third album, Schizophrenic Circus (1984), before they disbanded in 1985. The band reunited in 2023, with founding members reissuing Condition Red to a new generation of listeners.Music clips by The Charms, The Dogmatics, Blame It On Whitman, Black Helicopter, and The Red Rockers..Produced and Hosted by Steev Riccardo

452. Tommy Ng - Jesus The Dinosaur
Tommy Ng, leader of the indie rock band Jesus the Dinosaur, joins us to promote the band's new single "Sweet Nothing" and share the interesting journey that brought them from Atlanta to the Berklee College of Music in Boston.“For me personally, I’m describing what it feels like to be in a social setting while being maxed out on my social meter. I have a big people-pleasing problem (working on it), so I’ll keep pushing through social interactions even when I have nothing left to give, so what comes out of my mouth at that point is usually just that: filler, forced smiles, canned responses, bullshit. Just enough to pass as pleasing and agreeable to everyone." — Tommy NgMusic Clips from The Charms, The Dogmatics, The Long Wait, and Jesus The Dinosaur Produced and Hosted by Steev Riccardo Please support us at patreon.com/twistedrico

446. Romes
This episode features brothers and bandmates Jacob and Nicolas Bitove of Toronto's self-described "punktronic" band ROMES, here to talk about their brand new album Sonic Trash. If you haven't discovered ROMES yet, they've been carving out a gritty, high-energy sound that blends raw rock attitude with glitchy electronic vibes. Sonic Trash leans hard into that aesthetic — distorted synths, punchy beats, and a chaotic DIY energy that somehow feels both nostalgic and fresh. Drawing from industrial, dance-punk, and hints of '90s grunge, it's loud, a little messy in the best way, and absolutely full of personality. The kind of record where it sounds like they hit "record" and just went all in.Music Clips by Black Helicopter, Tad Overbaugh, Shurr Jr, Speedfossil, and RomesProduced and Hosted by Steev Riccardo Please support this podcast at patreon.com/twistedrico

442. Tad Overbaugh
Tad Overbaugh is one of Boston's finest songwriters — criminally under the radar, but not for much longer. Tad crafts a sound that's been beautifully described as "alt-country music viewed from Boston," a gritty, lived-in blend of roots rock, Americana, and dive-bar pop that draws comparisons to The Replacements, Drive-By Truckers, and Steve Earle. It was fellow Boston-based songwriter Tom Baker — a man whose taste we've long admired — who essentially grabbed us by the collar and told us just how good this guy is. And Tad's new record is all the proof you need. Music Clips by The Charms, The Dogmatics, The Zulus, Black Helicopter, and Tad Overbaugh Produced and Hosted by Steev Riccardo
