Breaking Our Borders Episode 27- Adam Copeland and Positive Living

Send us Fan MailWelcome back! I’m super excited about this episode as this is the first time I have done an interview for the podcast. Today I have a special guest with me, Mr. Adam Copeland. I met Adam at a STEM teaching conference where he was the keynote speaker, and I was inspired by his speech. He discussed Positive Leadership, but I saw how his ideas about leadership related to personal growth. It was from his speech that I got the idea of our brains being like an apple tree, and created Episode 21. I shared this with Adam and he asked to join me on an episode to talk further about the connection of these two ideas. So, let’s get started talking to Adam right now!

Breaking Our Borders Episode 26- Perceptions

Send us Fan MailHello and welcome back! I’m Dr. Michelle Border and in today’s episode I’m going to talk about perceptions. Perceptions are how individuals organize, identify, and interpret sensory information to understand the world around them. It has been my experience that the difference in perceptions can be the cause of misunderstandings, arguments, and hurt feelings. It is important that we understand and accept each other’s perceptions so that we can have healthier relationships without conflict. Let’s get started discussing how to do that, right now.

Breaking Our Borders Episode 24- Romantic and Friendship Relationships

Send us Fan MailHi and welcome back! I’m Dr. Michelle Border and in today’s episode I am going to discuss healthy and unhealthy romantic and friends relationships. Survivors of childhood trauma often carry personality adaptations and disorders into adulthood that are used to cope with their abuse, as well as borders created in their minds from the abusive treatment. These are not always positive traits, and can impact decisions and behaviors in adulthood in negative ways, including with forming relationships. Let’s get started talking about all of this, and how we can have healthier choices in our relationships, right now.

Breaking Our Borders Episode 23- Physical Abuse including Sexual Abuse

Send us Fan MailWelcome back! I’m Dr. Michelle Border and in today’s episode I’m going to talk deeper about physical and sexual abuse. Physical abuse is any aggressive or violent behavior by one person toward another that results in bodily injury, and includes any sexual behavior forced on a victim that provides stimulation for abuser. While physical abuse is done to the victim’s body, it also causes psychological damage and creates borders in the victim’s mind about themselves. Let’s get started talking about those borders right now.

Breaking Our Borders Episode 22- Emotional Abuse

Send us Fan Mail Hello everyone, and welcome back! I’m Dr. Michelle Border and in today’s episode I’m going to take a deeper look at emotional abuse. Emotional abuse is a type of abuse that affects the mind of the victim, not abuse on the body. The abuser uses words to manipulate the victim into someone who supports the abuser’s irrational view of themselves as being perfect. I’m going to talk about the tactics used by abusers, why they do it, and how the victims can handle the abuse. So let’s get started talking about that right now.
