Roadtrip Special ft. MeiMei Weston | Episode 2

For this episode of Brews & Bruise Reviews, my sister MeiMei and I review the locally brewed Caribou Genuine, before talking about her important work in Senegal, ascending Kilimanjaro, sports cultures, living in the wilderness, Taylor swift, and more! MeiMei is a top-tier athlete at Harvard University down in Boston (yes you read that right, *NERD ALERT* she does go to Harvard), competing on the rowing team, and having experience on the track team as well, having won OFSAA in high school as one of the most highly-recruited female track athletes in Canada. Injuries have kept MeiMei away from the track in recent times, and so we take a deep dive into what goes into dealing with injuries and coping with not being able to do what you love, being away from teammates and friends. We talk about her recent work for ‘Beautiful Soul’ in Dakar, Senegal, where she worked to empower African women to become more financially independent, including some of the highs and lows of her time being in the foreign territory. We then move onto finding balance between work and play as a varsity athlete on the rowing team at Harvard, before doing an album review of Taylor swift’s newly released ‘fearless (Taylor’s version), and the drama that went along with the re-recording of this album. 3’ - caribou genuine brew review 7’ - meimei talks Senegal, beautiful soul, empowering women 18’ - targeted by CON ARTISTS?!? 22’ - Kilimanjaro 30’ - Treeplanting, fear of the unknown 36’ - Track, Rowing: MeiMei talks about her experience in varsity athletics at the collegiate level at Harvard, as well as her experience dealing and coping with injuries 45’ - culture differences between track and rowing 56’ - fearless (Taylor’s version) album review, drama youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsKZ7aHjNfJshCW-vtxweXA
