Heading South w/ Brad Gushue
It's an emergency podcast of sorts as we managed to snag a one-on-one with Brad Gushue, the brand new High Performance Director of USA Curling, on the eve of his first trip to the States in his official role. It was news that came as a bit of a shock to the curling world when it was announced yesterday, and we ask Brad all about it, from how the role came to be his, why he chose to come back into the curling world so soon after retiring from competitive play, and why he made the decision to lead the USA's program after so many years representing Canada at the highest level. On the Mark w/ Ideson and Nichols
John is joined for a two-pack of interviews with two men who have had quite the last few months, Paralympic gold medal-winning skip Mark Ideson and Matt Dunstone's new second, Mark Nichols. Mark Ideson is up first, and him and John discuss why this Paralympics was the most memorable of his career, how wheelchair curling continues to grow, Rock League, and of course, that final shot of the Paralympics that secured the gold medal for Canada. Then Mark Nichols joins the show to run down his incredibly busy year, right from the moment he found out his long-time teammate Brad Gushue was retiring until now, where he finds himself joining the reigning Canadian champions, Team Matt Dunstone. He reveals how close he was to actually retiring himself, what is keeping him motivated to keep playing, and what intrigues him about the partnership with Matt. This episode is brought to you by Goldline Curling. Sweeping Changes w/ Pete Townshend
Now that the craziness from Rock League has died down, John and Robbie reconvene to discuss all the team changes they missed over the last few weeks. And there was a lot! From Mark Nichols joining Matt Dunstone all the way to the Middaugh family becoming a curling team, we talk through just about every major change and give our opinion on it all. And speaking of changes, Goldline CEO Pete Townshend then joins the show to discuss their new sponsorship model. Curling fans have questions and Pete has answers about how their new merit-based system is going to work, what it means for every tier of the game (including juniors!) and why they feel it's the best move for both Goldline and the game of curling itself.

The Bronze Age w/ Emma Miskew
It's the Bronze Age in the Homan Empire as Team Homan second Emma Miskew joins John for a wide-ranging interview that covers a variety of topics. We start with their big bronze medal win as Emma takes us inside the Team Homan camp and what it was like facing down 7 must-win games in a row at the Olympics. She details how they dealt with outside noise, getting caught in the "Boopgate" crossfire, and how they rebounded from the semifinal loss to play their best game in the bronze medal matchup against the USA. And then we turn our focus to the Scotties. With the Olympics now in the rearview mirror, Emma speaks candidly about her team's disappointment in being unable to defend their Scotties title, and what needs to be done over the course of the next quad to ensure the same thing doesn't happen again in 2030. TWO TIMES!: An Olympic Recap
History was made in Cortina in the 4-person events as a whopping SEVEN players joined curling's prestigious "Double Gold" club, with Brad Jacobs finding his way atop the podium for Canada to become the nation's only two-time gold medal-winning skip, and Anna Hasselborg becomes just the second complete team to win two golds, joining her countrymate Anette Norberg in the feat. It was a wild tournament full of twists and turns, some surprise 4th-place finishers, and of course: boopgate. We put a bow on all of that, wonder what it might mean for some of the teams moving forward, and we give a very quick Brier preview to cap it all off. The Boop Brothers: A Midweek Olympic Recap
We have reached the halfway point of the Olympic tournament for both men and women and John and Robbie are here to break down what has been an unexpectedly drama-filled affair. Rachel Homan stumbled out of the blocks but has been gathering momentum. Brad Jacobs, Marc Kennedy, and the Swedes have been tied up in Boopgate. And after that, a lot of your favourites are jostling for playoff positions with a few surprises tucked into the mix as well. We break it all down here, including our thoughts on the curling scandal that's gripping the world and where we think the medal rounds might end up. Bella-issima: An Olympic Mixed Doubles Recap
The Mixed Doubles tournament at the Olympics has concluded, and history has been made as Swedish siblings Isabella and Rasmus Wranå stand alone atop the podium at the end of a crazy and chaotic week in Cortina. Rasmus becomes the seventh curler to win a second Olympic gold, Sweden becomes the second nation after Canada to win a gold in all three curling disciplines, and Cory Thiesse becomes the first American woman to win a curling medal. And what a final it was, as Bella put up a 97% stat line to carry the Swedes to the gold in a wonderful game of curling. This week also felt like the breakout party for Korey and Cory stateside and we discuss the discourse around Korey's exuberance. We also take a look at the Bronze Medal game between Italy and Great Britain, and how much it meant for the Italian curlers to win on home soil. And of course, it was a disappointing Olympics on the Mixed Doubles side for Canada, so we give our thoughts on what went wrong and respond to some of the criticism online about Canada's approach and weigh in on where things might have to change moving forward. Olympic Preview #6: GBR/CAN W & M
In our final preview of the Olympic curling event that gets underway this week, we bring it to the home front and look at Team Homan and Team Jacobs' chances in Cortina. Brad Jacobs will look to improve on last year's World Bronze and Rachel Homan is searching for her first success at the Olympics. Standing in Team Jacobs' way is World #1 Bruce Mouat, who is the defending World champion and has been the World #1 for almost the entirety of this quadrennial. And as one of the lower-ranked teams in the event, can Rebecca Morrison make her mark or is it one quad too early? We'll take a look at Great Britain's chances on both sides of the sheet, how much it might affect three of these teams to have some of their players involved in the Mixed Doubles event, and what Canada will need to do right to make the podium in Cortina. Plus, since it is our last preview, John and Robbie do the brave thing and make their final predictions for who ends up with the hardware. Olympic Preview #5: KOR/SUI W, GER/SUI M
It's the last Friday before the Olympics begin and we have 8 more teams left to preview. In this 4-pack, we dig into two legitimate medal hopefuls from Switzerland in Team Tirinzoni and Team Schwaller, and two teams hoping to break through into the playoffs in Korea's Team Gim and Germany's Team Muskatewitz. Is Team Tirinzoni a legitimate threat to topple Team Homan for gold? Can Team Schwaller continue their hot play of late to find their way onto the podium? Is Team Muskatewitz better than their poor record this year? We answer those questions and more in this penultimate preview! Kerri'd Away: A Scotties Recap
We take a quick break from our Olympic Preview episodes to recap the 2026 Scotties Tournament of Hearts, a tournament with a lot of drama as Kerri Einarson puts a cap on her quad with a fifth Scotties victory on the back of a shot that will go down as one of the sport's best ever. We discuss what it means for Kerri and her team heading into both the Worlds and next season, and we also take a look at which of the Scotties rookies (and there were many!) impressed us the most. Plus, it took Kaitlyn Lawes almost the entire quad but she and her team finally delivered their signature performance with an undefeated run to the finals, coming a Kerri miracle shot away from a victory. Where do they go from here? We answer that and more as we take a look at the week that was in Mississauga. This episode is brought to you by Goldline Curling, the Choice of Champions. Olympic Preview #4: JPN/SWE W, NOR/SWE M
We are back to our regularly-scheduled 4-person team previews and this time around, we are covering two of the teams we think are the most intriguing in the field, and they're both from the same country: Sweden. Niklas Edin has had a very bumpy quad but he's the defending Olympic Gold Medallist and he won the Europeans in the fall, so does he still have the juice in what might be his last kick at the can? And on the women's side, it's a similar story. Anna Hasselborg won her first major international tournament in 6 years when she won the Euros, but this year has been tough. She's lost the Swedish Worlds spot to Isabella Wranå and hasn't had great results outside of the Euros. Can she put it together and add a third medal to her trophy case? And of course, Japan has a long history of success on the women's side of this event, and so does Norway on the men's. While neither team is a favourite, will they have the ability to play spoiler? We break it all down here in our continuing series as we get you ready for Milano-Cortina 2026. Special thank you to doubletakeout.com for the rankings and Shoreview Sports for the analytics. This episode is brought to you by Goldline Curling. Check out goldlinecurling.com for all your Canadian Olympic apparel, equipment, and on-ice apparel needs.

We try to break it all down and figure out what might happen as curling kicks off the entire Olympics in just under a week. Olympic Preview #2: CHN/ITA W & M
We are back with our second of six Olympic preview episodes, and this time, we are chatting about 4 teams that are all coming into the Olympics with some question marks. Can the Chinese teams find consistency and repeat their Worlds performances from last year where they both made bronze medal games? Can Joel Retornaz find the form that allowed him to win 3 Slams in a single season just a couple of years ago? And what exactly is going on with the Italian women both on and off the ice? Teams with some wildly different ranges as to where they could finish and lots of intrigue on both sides of the ledger, and we break them all down for you here in extensive fashion, including breaking down their seasons so far, what we think their best and worst finishes could be, and where the analytics peg them. Thanks to Goldline for sponsoring this episode of Broom Brothers. For all of your apparel and curling gear needs, check out goldinecurling.com. The 2026 Olympics are just around the corner and John and Robbie have you covered with the most EXTENSIVE previews you'll find anywhere in the curling media landscape. Over the next 3 weeks, we are going to go over every single team in these Games: how they've looked this season, what the experts are saying, and ultimately, how we think they'll fare at the biggest tournament of the last 4 seasons. We're going to start with the Americans on both sides of the sheet, as Tabitha Peterson is getting towards the back 9 of her career and Danny Casper and his young charges are just teeing off. Do either of them have a chance? Is there another Miracurl on Ice coming? We also take a peek at two teams outside of the Slam picture but who could make some noise, in the Danish women and the Czech men. We also discuss Silvana Tirinzoni's potential retirement, the Swedish and Japanese national team battles, and whether or not we're worried about our Canadian teams at the Olympics. Then, the focus turns to Ross Whyte, who joins us on his one day off between tournaments to discuss his Players' win with John. We want to thank Daia Koyano for her wonderful work as the interpreter during the interview, as this allowed the space for Chinami to speak directly to her Japanese fans in her native language, but also to her English-speaking fans across the globe.

Two Tournaments, One Winner...and One Blank
John and Robbie are back to recap a busy couple of weeks in curling (at least for the Canadian teams) as we go back-to-back in London and Calgary for the AMJ Masters and PointsBet Invitational. And wouldn't you know it, the same teams won both, as Matt Dunstone and Rachel Homan plant an early flag in an important season. In the Winner's Circle w/ Matt Dunstone and Danny Casper
It's a double dose of victory on the pod this week as John is joined by the two big winners at the AMJ Masters last week: Tier 1's winning skip Matt Dunstone and Tier 2's conqueror, Danny Casper. With Matt, we hear about how things are starting to gel with EJ Harnden at the second stone and how his preternatural connection with Colton Lott has unlocked a new level for this team, how they're approaching the Olympic Trials, and what was going through his mind over the last six years as he tried to find Slam Win #2. He also tells us a great story about failing a trombone test. Then, Danny joins the show to discuss his second Tier 2 victory and how this sets them up for the US Olympic Trials, plus whether or not they feel pressure to succeed despite being the dark horse to take it all and head to Milano with the US flag on their backs. He also tells us about his plans for the next quad, he details his battle with Guillain-Barré Syndrome, and we learn that he is a very, very slow eater.

It's a new year and a new look for the fellas and it all starts here with our first episode that already needed an emergency attachment as Brad Gushue announced his retirement from the competitive game after we had already recorded this entire episode. Whoops. But we cover that as well as all the happenings of the summer from broom controversies being put to bed to the Goldline acquisition of Hardline to the Olympic reps being named for many countries. The GSOC Wheelchair Invitational Special w/ Jon Thurston and Chrissy Molnar
John is pleased to be joined by two curlers who will be playing in the upcoming GSOC Wheelchair Invitational and two Paralympic hopefuls, Jon Thurston and Chrissy Molnar. Coming from opposite ends of the spectrum with Jon being a 12-year veteran of the sport and Chrissy just getting into it within the last few years, the two discuss the upcoming Paralympics, the advancements that have been made in the wheelchair game in the last decade, and whether or not wheelchair curling should have sweepers (probably not) or specialized chairs (maybe). And of course, we dive into the GSOC Wheelchair Invitational itself, as Jon and Chrissy share their excitement for this historic inaugural event, how it will help their Paralympic prep, and what they're most looking forward to in London. Tickets for the GSOC Wheelchair Invitational and the AMJ Masters are available now at thegrandslamofcurling.com.

The AMJ Masters Live Draft w/ John Morris
John Morris teams up with John Cullen for the first-ever World Cup–style "pot draft" ahead of the AMJ Masters this September in London. Just like in soccer, the top 16 seeds are split into four pots, and names are drawn to decide who battles who at the season's opening Slam. Which group will become the dreaded Group of Death? How will the long-awaited return of China's men's and women's teams play out after nearly a decade away from GSOC? The two Johns break it all down in this special episode.
-
23
Chattin' With a Captain #5: Rachel Homan
John sits down with Rachel Homan, the two-time defending world champ and captain of one of Canada's Rock League teams. There's lots to discuss after a busy summer as Rachel talks about preparing for an Olympic year, how Tracy Fleury has been such a great fit for her as a skip, and whether or not she wants to keep going after this quad, Olympic result or not. And of course there's room for a little summer silliness as Rachel recounts the story of an unfortunate text from John at the Players Championship, whether or not she's used the Key to the City of Ottawa, and Rachel's son Ryatt makes a guest appearance.
-
22
Chattin' with a Captain #4: Korey Dropkin
John sits down with Korey Dropkin amidst his preparation for the US Pancontinental Playoff to discuss the US talent pool, the potential changing of the guard after this quad, how winning a spot at the Olympics in Mixed Doubles has allowed him to play more free, and the secret to the success he had this past season and how that might lead to success in the future. Oh, and we definitely discuss his blond hair.
-

Chattin' With a Captain #3: Bruce Mouat
John sits down with the "Europe 1" captain Bruce Mouat for a chat about a home Rock League tie for his team in Scotland, preparing for the Olympics, how much longer he's intending to play, and how you improve on one of the best seasons of all-time. We also discuss whether or not the Scottish Nationals should be a play-in for the Worlds.

A Long Year w/ Briane Harris
It's a special interview-only episode of the show with Briane Harris, giving her first podcast interview EVER after one of the most challenging curling seasons in recent memory. We said we wouldn't be back until after the All-Star Game, but this chat was too important to pass up. John sits down with Briane for an extremely open talk about the last year of her life, from finding out on the eve of the Scotties that she had tested positive for a banned substance all the way through her dismissal from Team Einarson and the new lease on curling she's been given as Kate Cameron's new third. She leaves no stone unturned and answers every question curling fans have been dying to ask, a true must-listen.

Back to Back w/ Sarah Wilkes
Rachel Homan once again stands alone atop the women's curling world as she takes home her second consecutive world title, defeating Silvana Tirinzoni in the final to take home the top prize and become Canada's first repeat champion in over 30 years. We break down the entire Women's Worlds for you, from the emergence of China to the disappointment for the USA and Japan, and debate Rachel Homan's place among the all-time greats. Plus, we break down the newly-announced Grand Slam of Curling calendar for the 2025-26 season (hint: there's some surprises!), and we give a very quick eye to the upcoming Men's Worlds. Following that, Sarah Wilkes from Team Homan joins us to talk through their World championship win, the switch to lead, how Rachel Homan continues to leave her in awe even though she's a teammate, why Tracy Fleury was the perfect fit for their team, and how her background in psychotherapy has helped her become a better athlete and person.

The Fifth and the First w/ Ben Hebert and Paul Webster
It's a jam-packed episode of Broom Brothers as we return to our regularly-scheduled programming with a big Brier recap looking at the week that was in Kelowna. Brad Jacobs hoists his second Brier trophy, Matt Dunstone comes up short in the final again, and we break down who impressed us and all the other storylines from what was an excellent Brier. Then, we are very pleased to be joined by two members of the victorious Team Jacobs, lead Ben Hebert and coach Paul Webster. Ben gives us the rundown on why this fifth win meant so much to him, how adding Brad Jacobs really unlocked something in this team, and the backstory behind his son Griff going tarps off at the final. Paul then follows up with a very insightful interview about what it was like to move from being a national coach with Curling Canada to coaching an individual squad and why this was the squad to do it with, how much this first Brier win was worth all the effort, and why Brad Jacobs started honking during the semifinal.

From Black to Bronze w/ Christina Black
It's a big week here on the show as we try to cram a bunch of curling news in! Our own Robbie is the brand-new PEI Mixed Champion, so we get into that before diving deep into the Scotties, as we recap Rachel Homan's continued dominance and who surprised us in the tournament (both good and bad). From there, it's Brier szn baby! We tee up what should be a great tournament with 5-7 teams all in it with a shot to win it, as we discuss Brad Gushue not being the clear favourite, who might dethrone him, that insane Pool A, and which team will sneak through the tightly packed Pool B to maybe surprise and make some noise in the playoffs. Then, we are pleased to be joined by Christina Black, the newly-minted Scotties bronze medalist who overcame some very unique and trying circumstances to capture the hearts of curling fans with her and her team's performance. We ask her about what it was like to try to play a game knowing your teammate is dealing with an awful situation, what the bronze meant to them, what's led to their successful season, why they don't play more, and we learn why Christina won't eat pizza outside of Cape Breton.

Fly Like an Eagle w/ Korey Dropkin
Scotties szn is upon us and we break all of that down for you including our picks for the playoffs, our dark horses, and which teams we're nervous about heading into the week. John gives everyone an update on the "Foamgate" situation, the attempted Scotties Players' Agreement, and where we go from here. And then finally we break down the recently-concluded US Curling Championships before welcoming in the 2025 Men's Champion, Korey Dropkin! With Robbie away at the PEI Mixed Doubles provincials, John handles interview duties and gets into it all with Korey: how this felt like his first "real" title win, how jiggling the team lineup helped them find their best game, the emergence of Danny Casper as a real threat, and the effects that USA Curling's High Performance Program has had on Korey's game over the last decade.
