63: Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning w/JD from Cult Classics

For this very special Friday the 13th episode, we're joined by JD of Cult Classics to discuss an unsung hero of the franchise, Part V: A New Beginning! Why are we starting with part 5? Because just like us, it's weird, gross, and doesn't always make a lot of sense. So, tune in as we talk about hockey masks with blue markings vs hockey masks with red markings, crazy kids in the woods, and what makes this an underrated entry in the Friday series.

  2. 57

    62: Teen Wolf (1985)

Welcome back to Brothers in Blood! After warming the benches for the last couple of months we realized it was time to get back in the game, and what better way to tie in this analogy than by covering 1985's TEEN WOLF. Is it horror? Well, there's a werewolf so...yes! Listen, we're talking about this flick because we want to, and because you guys deserve some variety, and because this film was a huge gateway for future monster-kids. So tune in, crack open a can of tab, and enjoy the return of Brothers in Blood!

  3. 56

    61: Guillermo del Toro's FRANKENSTEIN (2025)

This week we're bringing to life a 3+ hour long episode on Guillermo del Toro's dream project: Frankenstein. We talk gothic horror, the differences between this iteration and the book, as well as previous adaptations, and a deep dive into the characters, production, and del Toro's history with Shelley's creation. Whether you were able to catch this film at the theater or it was a home viewing, you won't want to miss the Brothers in Blood coverage. If you're listening on a platform outside of Spotify, you'll notice the episode ends suddenly. This is due to our release platform for Apple, etc., not allowing audio over 3 hours and 20 minutes, so you miss about a minute of brotherly babble as we close out.

  4. 55

60: Interview with BOGGED Director, Preston Koch

This week the Brothers are joined by fellow Oregonian and tapehead, Preston Koch to talk about his new short film, "Bogged", a biker horror movie. Tune in for the usual horror chatter, tape talk, and Preston's filmmaking journey, as well as when/where you'll be able to watch "Bogged".

  5. 54

    59: Scooby-Doo! and the Witch's Ghost

HAPPY HALLOWEEN! Tune in today, on all Hallow's Eve, Samhain if you will, for a fun chat about a spooky season classic. One of the kings of gateway horror, Scooby-Doo himself, up against a witch in New England during October. Prepare to hear a lot about the Hex Girls and Tim Curry! See ya in November, creeps.

  6. 53

58: Interview with Jessica Gruesome and Flesh Vomit

This week we paused our trick or treating to meet up with a couple of friends and fellow artists, Jessica and Joe (aka Jessica Gruesome and Flesh Vomit)! We talk about getting into horror, the avenues it leads to, paths to extremes, and how it informs the art they make. This episode kicks off the final week of October, so tune in and spend a little time with us...we'll have more treats dropping this week, so don't put away your pillowcases too quickly.

  7. 52

57: Haunts + Tricks n' Treats VIII (VHS HALLOWEEN, TALES FROM THE HOOD, etc.)

This week, as we enter the second half of October, we want to tell you about two haunted attractions the Brothers in Blood managed to survive! We run down some gory details and give our recommendations on visiting the frightfully fun Nightmare Factory in Salem, and the terrifyingly terrific Haunted Corn Maze on Sauvie Island. In addition to haunt talk, we have another Tricks n' Treats for you, where we share what we've been watching so far this month. We'll see you next week with Scooby Doo and the Witch's Ghost!

  8. 51

    56: HALLOWEEN II (2009)

In the spirit of tricks, we wanted to cover one of the most divisive horror remakes of all time, and it happens to be one we both love. This week we're talking about Rob Zombie's insane follow-up to his remake of "Halloween", specifically the unrated director's cut. We discuss the film, its reputation, and why it's started to be re-evaluated.

  9. 50

    55: The B.i.B 31 Days of Halloween

This week, on the first day of October, we bring you a guide to the hallowed halls of Halloween movie-marathons. We've picked 31 movies, one for each day of the spookiest month, that we feel are the definitive BROTHERS IN BLOOD October watches! It may differ from your list, it may even differ from our individual lists, but each of these films satisfies the B.i.B sweet tooth like candy corn. Hopefully you discover something new, or maybe you have a trick or treat to give. Stay tuned, stay spooky, and welcome home to October.

  10. 49

    54: Top 10 Vampire Movies

Ah, the Brothers in Blood...what sweet podcasting they make! Put aside your puns, grab a stake and garlic t-shirt instead, because this week we're sinking our fangs into our respective top 10 vampire flicks. 11. 48

    53: Interview w/ Funeral Flowers

This week we're joined by "NUN" other than Brian Mendez, the artist behind Funeral Flowers! Brian is a prolific Portland artist with work all about town. Whether it's a print for sale in your favorite spooky shop, or a sticker standing out amongst the masses on a street sign. We talk about Brian's history with horror, his particular love for vampires and nunsploitation, how he got into art, and more. Give him a follow and get ready for next week's episode all about fanged fiends.

  12. 47

52: Drive-In of the Dead Recap

This week we're unwrapping Weapons (2025), Kill List (2011), Sorcerer (1977), and revisiting Waxwork (1988) and Maniac (1980) and MORE! As always when we empty out our candy bags we talk about movies we hadn't seen before and ones we've rewatched after a long while. Tune in to hear our thoughts and stay spooky!

  14. 45

50: Re-introduction to The Brothers in Blood

We've been doing this for over a year now, one whole year of talking horror movies, Halloween memories, and all things strange and unusual. To those of you who have stuck with us, we owe you our immortal souls (not really), but we have a lot of new listeners! After seeing how many people have gone back to the beginning, we decided to re-listen to those first few episodes, and they were...uh...bad! So we felt it best to do a re-introduction so you could get to know us without all the early bumps in the road. Hopefully ya dig it like a grave!

  15. 44

    49: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (1986)

It's August again, and when those hot nights roll in, we get to craving...what are we hungry for? Meat and mayhem, which is exactly what you get in Tobe Hooper's genre-bending sequel, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2! We covered the OG Texas Chain Saw (note the spacing there) last August, and felt this was the perfect time to revisit the follow-up, which also happens to be Alex's favorite movie. So, grab yourself some chili, maybe a little fry house, and tune in...the saw ain't the only thing that's family around here!

  16. 43

    48: The Burning (1981)

Picture this.... you're at a summer camp and a killer is on the loose; the garden shears are missing; campers and counselors alike are being picked off; a legend begins to burn hot enough to roast marshmallows over; and George Constanza is there?! That's right folks, it's not Crystal Lake or Camp Arawak, it's 1981's "The Burning". We're talking about one of our favorite summer slashers while we try to beat the heat, so come join us, but don't look; he'll see you. Don't breathe; he'll hear you. Don't move; you're dead!

  17. 42

47: Tricks N' Treats VI: 28 Years Later, Deadbeat At Dawn, Bring Her Back...

It's Tricks N' Treats 6(66) and the brothers are beating the heat this Summer with some scares and bummers as we keep on trucking toward the Halloween season. This week our pillowcases include '28 Years Later', 'Cruising', 'Bring Her Back', and more. So, gather round, light your jack-o-lanterns, and let's swap reviews.

  18. 41

    46: The Devil's Rejects (2005)

The Brothers are back this week with a sequel, the predecessor of which they've yet to cover; but in the sweat of Summer, chronology is worth less than a melting cone of tutti frutti. That's right, this week we're talking about Rob Zombie's 'The Devil's Rejects'. Tune in to hear us talk about the differences in characters, the growth in Zombie filmmaking and more. Hey, don't we make ya laugh?

  19. 40

    45: Summer Horror Hits

This week the Brothers in Blood have compiled lists of the sweatiest, backwoods, desert-baked, campground-creeping horror movies for summer. School's out, skin is tanned (and possibly removed), the barbecue is fired up, and we're ready to deliver our favorite recommendations for the season. So tune in, listen up, and then send us your own lists of what to watch over the next few months!

  20. 39

44: From Dusk Till Dawn (1996)

Okay ramblers let's get rambling...this week the brothers are going South of the border, where the beer is cold and the dancers are hot! And vampires? That's right, because we're talking about 1996's "From Dusk Till Dawn". It's a quick and dirty episode, but we did the deed right, so we'll see ya next week when we're recording from the new Casa de Sangre!

  21. 38

    43: Interview with Lyssa Samuel

This week the brothers are joined by the very funny and down-to-earth Lyssa Samuel, director and star of "Rash", a short horror film we very much enjoyed. Tune in to hear us discuss her creative process, how she came to the horror genre, the intersection of horror and comedy, and more!

  22. 37

42: Interview w/ Razors In The Night

This week we're joined by horror-hound and artist, Razors In The Night! RITN aka Alex, is a local creator with a deep knowledge of the genre, specifically underrated gems and splatter flicks; he also loves haunted houses and has some great stories to share, so tune in for this killer episode. We proudly rock his tees, and we're stoked he joined us this week!

  23. 36

41: Tricks n' Treats V: Sinners, Final Destination: Bloodlines, etc.

It's been a while since we emptied our candy bags, so we figured we'd check out the goods and distribute the new stuff we've been watching, whether they were new releases or just something we hadn't seen before. Tune in and then check them out, let us know if you watched em, if you agree or disagree, etc. Stay spooky!

  24. 35

    40: Longlegs (2024)

We're taking a little trip to meet Mr. Downstairs...and if a man ever tells you that, RUN! We've touched on this film in prior episodes, but this is our official, full length, legs goin' all the way up coverage as we finish out the AGE OF CAGE!

  25. 34

39: Color Out of Space (2019)

This week we're reading from the Necronomicon (not the Evil Dead one, although we wish we were) and travelling to Arkham, MA, to lay our eyes upon Color Out of Space from 2019! We're talking Cage and Lovecraft, so tune in for the third week of AGE OF CAGE.

  26. 33

    38: The Wicker Man (2006)

What's the buzz with those Brothers in Blood? Well word around the hive is that we took a little sabbatical to investigate a missing child on a Neo-Pagan inhabited island known as Summerisle, and while there we had to make a few sacrifices! But we're back this week to talk about one of the worst horror remakes of all time, from the year of our Pagan lord 2006, week 2 of AGE OF CAGE brings you "The Wicker Man"! Tune in and watch out for the bees!

  27. 32

    37: MANDY (2018)

It's the first episode of The Age of Cage, our month long celebration of horror films starring Nicolas Cage, and up first is the one and only Mandy (2018) directed by Panos Cosmatos. This is one of our favorite films, and we treat it with a reverence that only the Brothers in Blood can deliver. Join us to talk about forging Beasts, sick baseball tees, Jesus freaks, and one of the best movies of the last 25 years, Mandy.

  28. 31

So, crack open a cold one and tune in, you might just learn a thing or two.

  29. 30

So don't lose your head, just tune in and stay spooky.

  36. 23

    26: Wolf Man (2025)

A full moon hangs heavy in the sky…or does it?! This week we're breaking tropes and transforming into something more akin to familial trauma than werewolf, as we cover Leigh Whannell's "Wolf Man". The Universal Monsters are clawing harder than ever to remain relevant in the era of A24 and NEON, and Whannell tries to capture the same remake magic of his 2020 "The Invisible Man". Does he succeed? That's for you to decide, but love it or hate it, you'll want to tune into this episode of Brothers in Blood just to howl with laughter at the very least.

  37. 22

    25: The Thing (1982)

This week the brothers have braved the cold and isolation of Outpost 31 to bring you an episode on John Carpenter's 1982, sci-fi/horror masterpiece, "The Thing". Now, there's no reason not to trust us...we know we're human, and we know you'll dig this episode, as we get into the production woes and wins, the incredible effects, and possibly the best hair/beard combo ever worn, as sported by Kurt Russell. So, grab your flamethrower, ditch the computer chess, and settle in for another episode of Brothers in Blood!

  38. 21

    24: Best Horror of 2024

It's time to reflect on what was, before we move on to what will be; so, sit back, crack open a cold neck, kick your feet up on a gravestone, and join us as we share our thoughts on the horror movies of 2024. We give our top 5, then delve into some specific performances, scores, etc. You'll shriek with laughter and walk away with some recommendations to find at your next trip to the video store. Tune in next week when we cover John Carpenter's "The Thing"!

  39. 20

    23: Nosferatu (2024 and more)

We've gone from living deliciously to being creatures of appetite as we cover the latest Robert Eggers movie! However, this week the brothers are talking about not only the latest iteration of "Nosferatu", we're also discussing the 1979 version, the original from 1922, and the meta as hell "Shadow of the Vampire". We kick it off with Eggers's latest hit, and then travel by carriage to the rest of the adaptations. So tune in and be with us, ever eternally.

  40. 19

    22: Gremlins (1984)

Are your headphones on the fritz? Did your television cut to static? Well then you might just know what we're talking about today...that's right folks, it's Joe Dante's "Gremlins"! Not to blow our own horn, but this episode will make you laugh, cry, and wonder what George Bailey would've thought about a mogwai. So, remember to follow the Brothers in Blood rules, 1) Listen to the episode, 2) Rate and review the podcast, 3) Share it with your friends and fiends!

  41. 18

    21: Krampus (2015)

Oops! The brothers have been naughty and were visited by Saint Nick's darkside companion, the one and only Krampus! So it's only fitting that this week we settle in (for a long winter's nap) and discuss not only the legend of this Christmastime myth, but also Michael Dougherty's 2015 film, "Krampus". Does this movie deserve a spot under the tree? Or is it more coal than gift? Tune in to find out, and check back next week when we spill some water, eat after midnight, and awaken our inner gremlin.

  42. 17

    19: You're Next (2011)

It's not technically a Thanksgiving horror movie, but good gravy it's close enough for us! This week we're talking about Adam Wingard's "You're Next" and getting into the meat AND the fixings. This season listeners, we're thankful for you...now grab your cutlery and dig in.

  43. 16

17: The VVitch (The Witch, 2015)

Wouldst' thou like to hear a podcast? One presented by two brothers? About your favorite horror movies? 44. 15

16: Tricks n' Treats III: October Wrap, The Substance, The Howling, Warlock, etc.

The Brothers are closing out October with a wrap up on all the spookiness we got up to, the good, the bad, and the monstrous. We do a lot of yapping, but just like Damien, it's all for you dear listeners!

  45. 14

    15: Halloween (1978)

All our listeners are entitled to one good scare, so tune in as we close out October with one of the greats, John Carpenter's "Halloween" from 1978. There isn't much to say that hasn't already been said, but that didn't stop us from dropping the key off at the Myers place and talking about the creation of "Halloween" and our history with it. So, check your streets and closets for the boogeyman and then settle in for another episode of Brother's in Blood.

  46. 13

    14: Halloween Traditions and Origins

Grab your candy corn and make sure your jack-o-lantern is lit, because this week the brothers are talking about the beginnings and traditions of our favorite holiday: Halloween. From the Celtic lore of Samhain to the tricks and treats of modern day, we're going to make sure your pillowcase is filled with the black and orange nostalgia of October.

  47. 12

    13: Ginger Snaps
