Trish Sheil from the Arts Picturehouse is Education Officer for the Cambridgeshire Film Consortium and a guest lecturer in film studies at Anglia Ruskin University. Art historian Rupert Featherstone is director of the Hamilton Kerr Institute, assistant director of conservation for the Fitzwilliam Museum and a regular face on BBC TV’s Fake or Fortune.

    Trevor Dann interviews some of the university city’s brightest stars. In this edition Jem Davies, Technology VP and Fellow at ARM and Andy Salmon, Deputy Dean for Partnerships & Enterprise at Anglia Ruskin University. Jem talks about how a firm based in Cambridge has become market dominant in smartphones and tablets worldwide and about his passion for gliding. In an eventful teaching career Andy was held at gunpoint in Los Angeles and also taught in Africa. He is an expert on the works of Henry Green, a 20th century modernist writer.

American-born Jim Secord heads up Cambridge University’s Department of History & Philosophy of Science where he specialises in nineteenth century scientists. He’s also the leader of the Darwin Project which is publishing all of Charles Darwin’s letters online. Back in the 21st century, David Tong is Cambridge’s answer to Brian Cox. He’s a professor of theoretical physics and spends his time wondering about quarks and black holes and trying to show where Newton and Einstein got things wrong.
