Can You Give Me A Flick?

This week the boys kick off a new countdown as Bryce and Nic pick their top three OSCAR FLICKS! Nic gets us underway with All About Eve, a supposedly timeless classic that won it way back in the 1950s. Widely considered one of the greatest films ever made, but will it have the same charm on Bryce?

For Bryce's favourite film of the year, we look at the debut from Aussie filmmaker Michael Shanks, the Alison Brie and David Franco led body horror Together. Nic is hugely surprised by this selection, but can he get on board?

Nic unveils his FAVOURITE FILM of 2025 with the indie darling Splitsville. While this is an unexpected pick, it has all the trapping of a Nic pick. The big question is though, can Bryce get on board with this bizarre and unusual romantic comedy? 

After Nic had himself a successful outing with his second favourite film of 2025, we move onto Bryce's runner up which the Academy had first! This is the second Paul Thomas Anderson film on this podcast and the first selected by Bryce. Will Nic get on board with this relatively macho epic, or will it be a bit much for the artsy fella?

After a deeply disappointing outing for Nic in last year’s Christmas Special, Bryce gets to pick the film and elects for a politically incorrect one. Will Nic be at all charmed by the pitch black comedy of Bad Santa?

Bryce and Nic take an unorthodox means to draft the film they will watch for their 100th episode.

With one episode shy of the 100, Bryce gets us back on track with an ACTUAL FILM and the first Alex Garland with 2024’s Civil War. The question will remain, will Bryce’s final recommendation get Nic on side?

In what could be considered the most controversial episode of Can You Give Me A Flick? Nic chooses potentially the most divisive film ever made for his final pick of the season, but there's a plot twist coming that may potentially anger out entire listener base. 

It’s about that time that Darren Aronofsky makes his long awaited debut on the show, this time in the form of a macho film. Bryce gives Nic one of his favourite films of the year, the Austin Butler led Caught Stealing. Will Nic find enjoyment from the latest effort of a great filmmaker or will he be left wanting more from this genre-mashing affair?

After a huge win with Patriots Day last week, Nic was forced to step up his game by picking a film that was more likely to get Bryce onside. His pick is The Descendants, a film that is highly regarded by critics and did the rounds at Awards time. Will Bryce enjoy this George Clooney led family drama, or will this one not work out? 

Bryce finishes his mission of giving Nic the third and final film in the Peter Berg trilogy, Patriots Day. Nic hated Lone Survivor and loved Deepwater Horizon, leaving Patriots Day as the decider. Will Nic be bewildered by this film that finds hope in the wake of tragedy, or will he be left unsatisfied?

After failing to sweep Nic away with a horror last week, he jumps on the train with an arthouse horror of his own with the French cult classic Les Diaboliques. Will Bryce be swept away by this piece of French cinema, or is it too little too long ago for his taste!?

After being criticised for being too safe with his recent selections, Bryce gives Nic potentially the grittiest and nastiest film he's ever seen. Eden Lake is a cult classic, but it's not everyone's cup of tea. Will Nic be on board with this "hoodie horror", or is it just a tinge too nasty for his taste?

No one can divide an audience like Ari Aster, which is a wonder why we haven't done one sooner! Nic's selection this week is 2025's Eddington, a film that divided a nation. While both men are split on Aster's films, will Bryce get on board with this political satire, or will this polarising film fall flat?

Bryce attempts giving Nic a family comedy, a controversial decision according to him. For the first time on this podcast, we dive into a John Candy film as the boys dissect one of his underrated gems. Will Nic get on board with this charming 80s comedy?

After having success with his last pick, Nic makes the ambitious choice of giving Bryce quite an artsy flick in Parthenope. Will he be bewildered by the beauty, or will this one fall short?

After a long awaited win last week, Bryce doubles down by giving Nic a risky film. Nic has a tendency to turn his nose at violent films, but can he come around to Green Room? 

In a desperate bid to get back on track, Nic takes on a different strategy by giving Bryce a documentary! This week, we take a look at the indie cult classic Frank and Cindy and we’ll see if Bryce can get on board! 

As Bryce looks to desperately break out of the losing slump he’s in, he must dig deep into his arsenal of beloved films to get Nic onside again. The formula is simple, a big budget, a big time director, the best cast the 90s has to offer and one of the highest grossing films of the 90s. Can Bryce get Nic excited about Ron Howard’s Ransom?

Nic is sure he has an absolute sure thing on his hands by picking a film that is considered to be one of the greatest creations of all time, but does Bryce have other thoughts in mind?

This week, the boys switch roles! Instead of Bryce picking his usual macho selection, he blesses Nic with an artsy flick that he hasn't seen. Looking back to his days learning Italian in high school, Bryce recalled the Robert Benigni film that left a lasting impression. Playing right into Nic's hand, will he enjoy this Oscar favourite from the 90s, or will the switcheroo backfire BADLY!?

After being given a film that is revered last week, Bryce decided to give Nic a film that is equally as iconic. Will Nic get on board with the dark horse in Ben Stiller’s The Cable Guy, or will this be another flop in a long line of flops?

After leaving Bryce deeply unsatisfied with his last selection, Nic pulls out the big guns with the Orson Welles’ classic Citizen Kane. Will Bryce be wowed by the film people often praise as the all time greatest, or is more disappointment in store?

This week Nic takes us back to the 90s for Ivan Reitman’s Six Days, Seven Nights, a film that time forgot. Nic thinks it’s a bundle of fun, but will Bryce share the same sentiment?

Bryce tasks Nic with an all time classic in The Deer Hunter in a bid to get him on board with a war film, which isn’t typically to his liking. Can he get on board with this epic War drama starting the great Robert De Niro?

Nic hands Bryce the first documentary on the podcast, a daring decision after his last attempt at a history flick. Will this harrowing and confronting look at Indonesia's darkest times hold up in Bryce's eye or prove to be a disastrous mistake?
