Read For Connection More Than Academics

Send us Fan MailYour connection and relationship with your kids is the most important part of their education. If you're missing out on the connection that can happen when you read great books together, you're missing out on one of the best parts of your kids' childhood. Focus more on connection when you read and don't kill the great experience that could be yours by making academic learning a fight rather than a natural flow from your healthy relationships.Do you have a question or a topic you'd like me to cover on the podcast?Find our contact form on our website and let me know your thoughts and questions!www.candlestickacademy.orghttps://www.facebook.com/candlestickacademyInstagram  @candlestickacademy

Never Be Weary of Good Works - My SPW insights from Alma 37:34

Send us Fan MailI do this thing that I like to call Search-Ponder-Write (SPW), where I SEARCH for true principles and ideas in a good book, PONDER what the quiet voice inside of me is saying, and then WRITE the message that comes to my mind. This is a really effective way of developing intuition. I love doing SPW for myself. And I want to bless my kids with the practice of being intuitive learners, so I use it as part of my kids’ homeschool assignments.Well, the other day I was doing some studying about how to find rest. I found a scripture that kept inviting me to come back to it and read it again and again. I had a few questions come up about what that verse really meant for me.How is it possible to “never be weary of good works” (as stated in Alma 37:34)?? Sometimes I DO feel weary while trying to do good works!Am I doing something wrong here, to feel weary while trying to do good things like feed my family, record a podcast episode, clean and organize my house, and serve a friend? What is the message here for me?What is Heavenly Father trying to teach me with this verse?Well, when we sincerely ask, with faith that we will receive an answer, the answers will come. So I kept pondering and asking, and then one day the light turned on. I knew the message I was supposed to learn. I wrote it down for safe-keeping. And now I get to share it with you.Your homework for this episode is to try Search-Ponder-Write for yourself. Read something good. Ponder it. Ask some questions. Listen to that good, quiet voice inside of you. And then write your insights. https://www.facebook.com/candlestickacademyInstagram  @candlestickacademy

Let's go over a few ideas to help you live more in alignment with the law of agency.Give it a listen and here's your homework....Ponder these questions and write the thoughts that your "good voice" tells you. What is your "water" in your education journey with your kids? What is an action step you could take that would help you live more in alignment with the law of agency and also be most beneficial for your family? Write these thoughts in your journal, and commit to taking a small and simple action step this week. Asking yourself questions like these, listening for the answers, and taking action as soon as possible, are powerful steps in developing your intuition.Conquer darkness.
