Join us as we wrap up the school year at Canyon View High School and say goodbye to one of our counselors KarriAnn Raddon.

Join us as we visit with our very own Donna Sanders. Donna is an administrative assistant in the front office at Canyon View High School. She has worked at CVHS for roughly 27 years. Donna is a bright spot at our school. Join us as we learn more about one of our favorite humans.

This week CVHS school counselors discuss Merit Diploma's, Kindness and March Madness. Join us as we talk about some of the fun activities and opportunities we have going on at CVHS.

This episode tackles the tough topic of Teen Dating Violence and Domestic violence. We visit with 3 women that work for Canyon Creek Services here in Cedar City. They share resources that are available for anyone experience unhealthy and abusive relationships. We also discuss tips for parents to watch to help their teens set good boundaries, open communication and where to ask for help. Please join us as we discuss this important topic.

Join us this week as we talk to Coach Dallas Lowry. Coach Lowry has been at CVHS for 19 years. This year he has a record breaking season: winning Divisionals, coaching 4 state Champions and taking 2nd in state. Coach Lowry talks about his passion for working with kids and his driving force in life. This episode will leave you uplifted and inspired.

Episode 17 is a fun episode you aren't going to want to miss. We talk about some of our 2026 predictions as well and talk to CVHS Choir members. They will talk to us about their singing Valentine fundraiser/activity. Lots of laughs and good conversation. Please join us this week.

This week CVHS counselors talk about the class registration process for all grades including incoming 9th graders. Please listen for helpful tips and advice as parents and students prepare to meet with their CCR advisor.

Join us this week as we talk to 2 of Canyon View High School's State Championship teams. We meet with 3 young men that are involved in Esports. They talk about their experiences and skills they are learning by participating in this sport. We are also going to be talking to two members of the State Championship Marching Band. This year they beat out a long standing rival to bring home the gold. Don't miss out!

Join us this week as we talk to our dear friend Ashley Reynolds. Ashley is a former CVHS school counselor and she joins us today to talk about the practice of Gratitude. She give practical tips, and ideas that we an incorporate in our personal, and professional lives as well as our classrooms.

This week we will be talking about the Iron County School District Teen Center, The District Food Pantry and Canyon View's Food Pantry. Our guests this week are Diane Janes and Alli Murphy. Both work for the Teen Center and District Food Pantry. Join us as they talk about the various services that families and teen can tap into to get some additional supports.

This week we talk to returning champion drill team seniors Lavri, Nicole and Kaydence as they talk about their dance team, their preparation and the hard work they put into their craft. We will also talk about their fundraiser The Talon Craft Fair that will be happening at CVHS on November 21 and 22nd. Join us as we talk to our 4x State Champion Drill Team as they seek their 5th championship.

In Episode 10 we sit down and talk to the 3 leads in Canyon View High School's production of "Shrek: The Musical". This is a fun conversation with students as they talk about their experience in acting in a play. We also touch on the Falcon Food Pantry and what resources we have for families who may be struggling at this time of year. Join us for a fun episode.

This week we will be talking to a favorite CVHS teacher, Mrs. Maria Duncan. She has been a Spanish Teacher for over 35 years. Mrs. Duncan shares her experiences as a teacher and talks about her Mexican heritage, including Dia de los Muerto (The Day of the Dead). Join us as we celebrate Mrs. Maria Duncan.

The is week CVHS counseling team talks with Naomi Curtis a member of the Iron County Prevention Coalition. We will be discussing the dangers of teenage alcohol consumption and vaping nicotine and marijuana. We will discuss the risk and protective factors and the resources parents and students can tap into to get help. This week the CVHS team talks with Ginger Healy and therapist, author, presenter and director with the Attachment and Trauma Network. We will be discussing Emotional Regulation for kids, how to address anxiety and depression and the resources that are available to help. Ginger provides great tips for parents and educators on how to help kids of all ages with their emotions.

This week we talk to a panel of 4 seniors as they discuss what their plans are after high school. Each student has a different path and opportunities in front of them. Also we will be talking about Utah College Application Week and CVHS's College Application Day as well as our FAFSA (Financial Aid) Night. We also dive into the different ways students can pay for their schooling.

This week's episode we focus on the tough topic of Suicide Prevention. We address warning signs, parenting tips for parents with kids that are struggling with their mental health and where to find resources for help. Join us, the information you learn today, may save a life.

This week we will talk to 2 student athletes from Canyon View and talk to them about how they balance being a student and an athlete, what their goals are after high school and what they are looking forward for the rest of the school year. We will also discuss the NCAA and what students have to do to become an NCAA qualifier to play at the next level. Tune in for some great information.

This week CVHS counselors talk about Senior Meetings. Senior Meetings are part of CVHS's College and Career Readiness program. Counselors meet with Senior and their parents to discuss next step plans after high school. We also will meet our new College Access Advisor, Ada McKeehan. She will be talking to us about her role with CVHS seniors.

This week is Homecoming week and we are highlighting alumni and coaches that give back to Canyon View. This week we have interviewed Keaton Kringlen a CVHS alumi and BYU Collegiate athlete who has come back to Cedar to run the family business, The Pizza Factory. This week Coach Burke Miller, head football coach for the Canyon View Falcons joins us as well. Listen to some amazing stories and help us celebrate CVHS's Homecoming week!!!

Canyon View High School Counseling Department, KarriAnn Raddon, Kim Blackner, Ayumi Whatcott and LCSW, Chad Winters are starting a podcast called Nurtuing the Nest to help inform parents, student, faculty and the community on upcoming events, academic topics, mental health, college and career readiness, substance abuse, etc. Episode one introduces the listener to the podcast and Canyon View High School, there are interviews with the Principal Mr. Denny Heaton and Student Body President and Vice President Evelyn and Cole.
