That's How You End It: A Look Back At 2025
Send us Fan Mail2025 was a year of transition, growth, and learning in real time.In this Patreon-exclusive episode, Mehka reflects on a year that reshaped how the CashColorCannabis Podcast is created—from moving from Atlanta to Tampa, to losing weekly studio access, to learning how to edit audio and video independently and record solo more than ever before. That shift opened the door to new formats and deeper storytelling, including multi-episode series like Flavor + Function with Wana, our work with the MCBA and their 10th anniversary, and timely conversations around social equity—like the Illinois lawsuit impacting operators on the ground. At the same time, the show stayed rooted in what started it all: thoughtful one-on-one interviews with voices like Dasheeda Dawson, Box Brown, and Ryan from the Indie Nerd Collective. The year closed on a high note in Las Vegas, where Mehka moderated a main-stage panel for the first time and partnered with Blunt Brunch to gift tickets to two listeners—bringing community, access, and intention full circle. This episode is a behind-the-scenes look at what it took to keep the show moving forward, what was learned along the way, and how those lessons are shaping what’s next.Thank you for supporting independent Black cannabis media. FAFO: A New Trump Admin, Amendment 3 & What’s Next
Send us Fan MailNovember 5th, 2024. That’s a day that most of us will not forget for one reason or another. That was election day here in America. This wasn’t your usual election. To be honest, we haven’t had a typical election in years. This cycle included a debate that ended with Democrats swapping out candidates, an assassination attempt, multiple Zoom calls, and coordinated efforts by both parties to make the other seem like the worst possible choice; the people have spoken. Donald J. Trump is our president again. So, we are heading into a second Trump administration. I wasn’t expecting it, and neither were many others. Since we are here, let's talk about it. What does a new Trump administration mean for the black community? What about cannabis? What’s the future of the plant under his admin? What about Amendment 3 in Florida and Governor Ron Desantis's role in helping it fail? There was a lot to unpack after November 5th. I spoke about these topics with the Executive chair for the Minority Cannabis Business Association, Mike Lomuto, Executive Director of the Marijuana Project, Chelsea Higgs-Wise, Kevin Ford Jr. with the Uplife Maryland and Budding Solutions Shanita Penny. Life Of The Party: D.U.I.
Send us Fan MailA lot goes into producing an event, especially in cannabis. It's more than finding a place, getting vendors, and inviting people. There is an art to this. Ross, with D.U.I., is becoming a master of this art form. If you're in Atlanta, you may be familiar with the signature event, Sunday Service. But it's more than just events with him. Looking towards the future, his plans include teaching the game and not just influencing it. Finding A New Life in Cannabis: Danny Murr-Sloat
Send us Fan MailOne thing about covering cannabis is that you will hear some fantastic stories about how the plant helped someone find a new life. Danny Murr-Sloat has one of those types of stories. Dealing with a list of health problems, from chronic stomach pains to discovering he had thoracic outlet syndrome and a non-cancerous brain tumor, Danny found himself dependent on pills. By 2009, he was on 19 different prescription medications and falling deeper into depression. At the urging of his father, he got his first medical cannabis card in December of that year. After this plant-based treatment, Danny's life began to change rapidly. By mid-2010, he had lost 70 pounds and weaned himself off of pain medications completely. His newfound love for cannabis would eventually develop into a love for growing cannabis. By 2024, Danny had amassed 14 years of experience across the U.S. and Canada, developing his own proprietary genetics and consulting with some of the largest cultivations in the industry. We spoke with Danny about his transition from pills to the plant, what he would want to be remembered for, his work with AlpinStash Genetics, and more. Support the show
