13.8 Happy at Home: An In-depth Study of the Beatitudes. Week 8: Blessed are the Persecuted
In this episode we look at Matthew 5:10–12: “Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”This teaching explores one of the most challenging truths in the Sermon on the Mount: living like Christ will often bring opposition, rejection, and misunderstanding. The very qualities we’ve studied throughout the Beatitudes: humility, mercy, purity, and peacemaking don’t always make us popular with the world. In fact, Jesus says they may lead to persecution. This is both encouraging and challenging. If you’ve ever felt misunderstood, rejected, or criticized because of your faith, Jesus reminds us that we are walking the same path as the prophets and the early followers of Christ. And according to Him, that path is not a sign of failure, it’s a mark of a life that belongs to the kingdom of heaven.

13.7 Happy at Home: An In-depth Study of the Beatitudes. Week 7: Blessed are the Peacemakers
In Week 7 of our Beatitudes study, we’re in Matthew 5:9: “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.”This episode breaks down what biblical peace actually is and what it isn’t. Peacemaking isn’t avoiding conflict, staying quiet to “keep the peace,” or compromising truth so everyone gets along. Real peace is reconciliation, wholeness, and restoration. It starts with having peace with God through Jesus Christ. If you’ve ever struggled with tension in relationships, felt unsure how to handle conflict biblically, or you want to be someone who brings the presence of Jesus into hard situations, this episode is for you.

13.6 Happy at Home: An In-depth Study of the Beatitudes. Week 6: Pure in Heart
Continuing the week-by-week Beatitudes study with Matthew 5:8: “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” Purity is not about perfectionism or outward rule-keeping. Pure in heart means clean, unmixed, undivided. A heart posture that is wholly devoted to God. Jesus goes straight to the source: not just behavior, but motives, thoughts, desires, and emotions, because what happens outwardly always flows from what’s happening inwardly. This is not about legalism and “external religion,” but the reality that God wants our hearts, not just our performance. The promise attached to this Beatitude is deeply personal: the pure in heart “shall see God.” Not everyone experiences the same depth of closeness, because intimacy is cultivated through obedience, surrender, and an undivided loyalty to the Lord. God gives new hearts, but we must cooperate through discipline, prayer, and ongoing surrender. I challenged you to evaluate what you're feeding your minds: entertainment, social media, conversations, and private habits. Drawing from Philippians 4:8, are you dwelling on what is pure? Or are you cultivating discontent, distraction, and compromise?

13.5 Happy at Home: An In-depth Study of the Beatitudes. Week 5: Showing and Receiving Mercy
In this we continue walking verse by verse through the Beatitudes with Matthew 5:7: “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.” After laying the foundation of humility, repentance, meekness, and hunger for righteousness, we now see what naturally flows from a heart transformed by God, mercy.Mercy is compassion in action, love that moves toward someone in need, suffering, or sin. While grace is receiving what we don’t deserve, mercy is not receiving what we do deserve. Mercy withholds judgment. It forgives. It steps in. It acts. At the same time, mercy is not ignoring sin, excusing wrongdoing, enabling bad behavior, or denying justice. True mercy upholds truth while responding with compassion. We first see mercy in the character of God, He reveals Himself as merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love. Mercy is not just something God does; it is who He is. We then see mercy fully displayed in the person of Jesus, who forgave sinners, healed the broken, touched the unclean, and restored the outcast. Finally, mercy is meant to be expressed through us. Those who have received mercy are called to extend it.

13.4 Happy at Home: An In-depth Study of the Beatitudes. Week 4: Hunger for Righteousness
In this episode, we continue our Beatitudes study with Matthew 5:6: “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.” Building on poverty of spirit, mourning over sin, and meekness, this teaching explores the deep desire God forms in believers to seek Him above all else.Righteousness is both rightness with God and a life that reflects Christ outwardly. Jesus Himself is our righteousness, and as we yield to the Spirit, He grows in us a hunger for holiness, obedience, and intimacy with God. This kind of hunger isn’t casual, it’s an all-consuming craving that only God can satisfy. The episode challenges you to examine what truly fills your life. When we’re full of worldly distractions, we lose our appetite for the Word. But when we feed on Scripture and cultivate daily fellowship with God, our desire for Him grows and our hearts are satisfied. God doesn’t just give blessings, He gives Himself. This episode is a call to reorder priorities, lay aside spiritual “junk food,” and pursue the only fulfillment that lasts: a life centered on Christ and shaped by His righteousness.

13.3 Happy at Home: An In-depth Study of the Beatitudes. Week 3: Meekness
In this episode, our study continues through Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount with Matthew 5:5: “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.” After walking through poverty of spirit and mourning over sin, we now get to explore how meekness is the Spirit-produced outcome of that inner surrender: what happens when we come to God empty-handed, repent deeply, and begin yielding our reactions to Christ. This session redefines meekness in a way that confronts the world’s assumptions: meekness is not weakness, it is power under control. Like a strong horse that becomes useful only when bridled, meekness is strength restrained, submission to God, and gentleness that comes from the Spirit rather than personality.Through this episode think about and examine what spills out when life squeezes you, especially in everyday moments like parenting, marriage, work stress, driving, and frustrating interactions with strangers. Meekness is not something we “try harder” to manufacture, it’s something God works into us through surrender, repentance, and even trials. This is a challenging but freeing episode, one that invites believers to trade emotional explosion for Spirit-led strength, and to experience the blessing Jesus promised: a life marked by peace, humility, and kingdom inheritance.

13.2 Happy at Home: An In-depth Study of the Beatitudes. Week 2: Taking Sin Seriously
In Week 2 of our Beatitudes study, we move deeper into the Beatitudes where Jesus declares: “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” This episode builds directly on last episodes foundation of being poor in spirit and explores what it truly means to mourn, not over circumstances, but over sin.Biblical mourning is a posture of repentance: taking sin seriously, grieving what grieves God, and allowing the Holy Spirit to sensitize our hearts. This is not about living in shame or sadness, but about godly sorrow that leads to freedom, restoration, and joy. As Scripture reveals, worldly sorrow says “I’m sorry,” but godly sorrow says “I’m done.”Throughout the episode, we see how mourning over sin invites the comfort of God, not just emotional relief, but the strengthening presence of the Holy Spirit. Comfort comes when sin is confessed, forsaken, and covered by grace. I pray this episode reminds you that the Beatitudes are not a checklist of behaviors, but a “to-be” list, evidence of the kingdom of God already at work within the believer. As we abide in Christ, He forms these realities in us: humility, repentance, sensitivity to sin, and joyful fellowship with God.

13.1 Happy at Home: An In-depth Study of the Beatitudes. Week 1: Poor in Spirit
In the first episode of our week-by-week study through the Beatitudes, we begin with an overview of this study and the context of when it was written. Then we delve into the Beatitudes with Jesus’ opening declaration from Matthew 5:3: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”This episode unpacks what Jesus truly means by being “poor in spirit”, not material poverty, but a posture of humility, dependence, and deep awareness of our need for God. We explore how this upside-down blessing sets the foundation for every other Beatitude, reminding us that the kingdom of heaven begins when we stop relying on ourselves and fully surrender to the grace of God.Through Scripture, reflection, and practical application, this conversation invites you to examine where pride, self-sufficiency, or control may be quietly replacing trust in God. As we learn, spiritual poverty isn’t weakness, it’s the doorway to spiritual richness.Whether you’re new to studying Scripture or walking through the Beatitudes again with fresh eyes, this episode sets the tone for a transformative journey, one that begins with humility and leads straight into the heart of the Kingdom.
