Colleen Hanabusa of Hawai’i’s 1st District breaks down the history and current state of legislation fighting for COFA health care access and the misconceptions that COFA migrants face in society today. Joe Enlet and Terry Mote discuss their own personal experiences and struggles within the Micronesian and Marshallese community to achieve health equity.

The effects of decisions made at the top regarding federal funding trickle down and influence the efforts and progress of local organizations. Sara Kim of the Korean Community Services in New York and Rucha Kavathe of UNITED SIKHS talk about the work they’re doing in the local community to promote health education and making health care cultural accessible with the REACH Program. Rep. Barbara Lee of California’s 13th Districts stops by to talk about how important programs such as these are and how federal funding can make or break its success.
