Jonathan Green got his start in journalism in 1979 through a cadetship at the Canberra Times, ‘falling into’ what he saw as the family trade. Since then he has written for and edited several newspapers, including the now defunct Melbourne afternoon broadsheet, The Herald, and he worked for 15 years at The Age in a range of roles. He later made the move to the web, becoming the editor of Crikey, before taking up his current position as the founding editor of the ABC’s online opinion and analysis site The Drum. Jason Whittaker (Deputy Editor, Crikey) became an editor at the age of ten, when he commissioned the family newspaper, The Whittaker Express. After completing a journalism degree some years later he set out to fill in the gaps in his knowledge, freelance writing and eventually working as a managing editor for ACP Magazines. He now holds the position of deputy editor at online news publication Crikey, an online news publication, where he also oversees the theatre blog, Curtain Call. Antony Funnell (ABC Radio National) was drawn to journalism as it was the only career that made sense to him. His career began with a cadetship at the ABC, where he’s spent most of the last two decades working for news and current affairs programs.
