024 Bible Study James 2:14-26 Faith without works is Dead

In this episode, Larry and Zaira dive into James 2:14–26, one of the most debated and practical passages in the New Testament. Together they explore what James really means by “faith without works is dead,” and how genuine faith expresses itself through a transformed life. Through honest conversation and grounded biblical insight, they discuss: •  The difference between professed faith and proven faith •  Why works don’t save us—but they absolutely reveal what’s real •  How James and Paul actually agree more than people think •  What living, active, obedient faith looks like in everyday life If you’re hungry for a deeper walk with God and want to understand how faith and action work together, this study will challenge and encourage you

023 Bible Study James 2:1-13 Faith Without Favoritism

In this episode, Larry and Zaira dive into James 2:1–13, a challenging passage that confronts the subtle ways favoritism can creep into our faith communities. Together, they explore how James calls believers to reflect God’s heart by treating every person with dignity, mercy, and impartial love. Through honest conversation and practical insight, Larry and Zaira unpack: •  Why favoritism contradicts the character of Christ •  How the “royal law” of loving your neighbor reshapes our relationships •  What it means to live out mercy in a world that often judges by appearances •  How believers can cultivate a community that reflects God’s justice and compassion Whether you’re studying James, wrestling with issues of bias, or seeking to grow in authentic Christian love, this episode offers a thoughtful and encouraging guide.

022 Bible Study James 1:19-27 Be doers of the Word

In this episode, Zaira and I dive deep into James 1:19-27, exploring what it truly means to be “doers of the Word.” We discuss the practical wisdom James offers for everyday life, being quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger. Together, we reflect on how genuine faith is not just about hearing God’s Word but living it out through our actions, speech, and compassion for others. This conversation will encourage you to put faith into practice. Join us as we unpack the passage’s call to humility, self-control, and service.

016 Testimony w/ Larry Alvarado: ”I changed my mindset and set it on Christ”

To be honest, this episode was something God has been tugging at me to do for a while, and I've tried to put it off so as long as I could, but God has made it clear it's something I need to share.  This episode, Elizabeth and I talk about my childhood and how I eventually came to Christ, and how growing up as an only child was all a part of God's perfect plan for my life so He could mold me. I talk about struggles I have with wanting everything in my control, but how, through closing doors, God has molded me, and not only did He close doors, but He opened better ones along the way. What I had thought were setbacks in my life were really setups to grow in Christ. Teaching me to lean not on my understanding but to rely on Him. Learning the difference between relationship and religion growing up at church.  This episode made me reflect and really think that I'm not just doing good in life, but I am blessed. Christ has done so much for me. "For me to live is Christ and to die is gain." Philippians 1:21  It all started for me with the small book of James and setting my mind on Christ.  "Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him." - James 1:12 ESV  Conquer!!!

015 The Psychology behind the Prodigal son w/ Elizabeth Sierra

Grab your cup of coffee and join me and Elizabeth Sierra as we discuss and break down the parable of the Prodigal Son found in Luke 15:11-32. Elizabeth studied at the University of Houston and received a Bachelor's degree of Science in Psychology. There are multiple psychological factors we face in the world. Through this episode, you may gain a better psychological POV as to why we act the way we do when we are in similar situations as the prodigal son.  3 key factors as to why we leave Christianity 1) How well we know the Father  2) What we are learning at home 3) Who our friends are Conquer today!

014 Testimony w/ Cecilia Funes: ”What are you doing with the voice I gave you?”

I had the amazing privilege of sitting down with Cecilia Funes, a gifted singer, always there to lend a hand to others, always smiling, who lights up a room with her laughter,  and someone who I consider a friend. We discuss her childhood from going from a household that wasn't Christian to attending church at 4yo receiving a gift of singing at 9yo, and accepting Christ at 12yo.  She shares her story with us, and when I say yes, this is a longer episode than normal, grab a cup of coffee and take a listen. She shares her struggles of entering a worship ministry at 12 and wanting to "fit in" in middle school and high school. She also discusses how, after graduating from high school, life became very difficult, leading her to look for fulfillment in the world and substances. BUT GOD.  What may we gain from this episode?  You may attend church for many years and still be missing the point. Not getting it. This walk of faith is not about religion, IT'S A RELATIONSHIP W CHRIST.  God has now called Ceclia to lead a Youth ministry and be a part of the worship ministry at Camino al Cielo Chruch.  He put another parable before them, saying, 'The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his field. It is the smallest of all seeds, but when it has grown it is larger than all the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches.'" - Matthew 13:31-32  Go and follow Cecilia and their Youth Instagram  https://www.instagram.com/cjzafu3?igsh=Zmc3eHdob2o0aXFi @imcacyouth https://www.instagram.com/imcacyouth?igsh=Z2R5M2ZvbWV3NXJ4

012 Should women teach/preach in the church? Q&A w/ Zaira Portillo

Join Zaira and me as we discuss a debated topic in churches: whether women should teach or preach in the church. This issue comes from two main passages of scripture that the Apostle Paul Writes.  1 Corinthians 14:34-35: "The women should keep silent in the churches. For they are not permitted to speak, but should be in submission, as the Law also says. If there is anything they desire to learn, let them ask their husbands at home. For it is shameful for a woman to speak in church. 1 Timothy 2:11-12: "Let a woman learn quietly with all submissiveness. I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet. Grab a cup of coffee and tune in as Zaira shares her experience of teaching and preaching the word of God to the church.  Conquer today!!

002 Our Forgiver - Youth service preaching

The enemy is like a roaring lion seeking someone to devour. This includes our relationships with fellow believers. Our world says "an eye for an eye", but the Word says the contrary. We must understand that Christ forgave our immense debt and therefore we must forgive others their debts. If we don't we will miss out on the Father's blessings for us, and yes this includes people we don't get along with and people who don't even admit their wrongdoing. In this episode, Larry preaches to the youth at his church about the importance of forgiveness and how it plays a role in our lives as believers.
