Sad to say, but this is the final time Asian Wave 101 will be on air for the foreseeable future. Thank you to CiTR for taking a chance on an inexperienced broadcaster when no one else would, and thank YOU all the listeners, I've lasted this long because of your support. This week, we get a taste of the indie scene in Taiwan, with a very popular trio called Cosmos People. Also on this week, some of the latest from Korea's urban music scene, and strange mix of bubblegum pop and reggae that only a Kpop girl group could pull off. All that and more on this week's Asian Wave 101.

Hebe Tien offers her perspective on finding love in this modern age. A Korean New jack swing artist showcases his style and a South Korean rap queen returns to the spotlight. Yu Feng from China displays a minimalist, traditional R&B sound, not common in his industry. What more is there to say? All that and more on this week's Asian Wave 101.

Ever wonder which Korean song was the most influential on modern K-Pop? Listen and find out! Also, a good balance of love songs from artists such as the talented Yoga Lin and Angela Chang. We hear from YG Entertainment's latest girl group, and Megan Lee rounds off the playlist with a highly inspirational track. All that and more on this week's Asian Wave 101.

A wide array of ballad tracks with a few other styles thrown into the mix. Ballad queen Della Wu with a sad but very inspirational song from her latest album, Subin with a self-written and composed song and Jay Chou returning to his R&B roots with a song dedicated to his infant daughter. Also, showing some love to Canadian artists working overseas, Henry Lau and G.Na with tracks they helped write and compose. All that and more on this week's Asian Wave 101.

A good mix of different styles, sure to be fun for the whole family! Khalil Fong is still releasing singles before unveiling his first full length album in over 2 years. Chinese singer alan brings a touch of "wuxia" flavour and Taeyeon of Girls' Generation sings a quality single perfect for summer afternoons. Japanese duo CHEMISTRY (currently on hiatus) rounds out this week's playlist. All that and more on the August 3 edition of Asian Wave 101.

A mix of different styles and crossover work. Chinese idols singing in Korean and Korean idols singing in Chinese? I wonder what it will sound like. Also in the mix, Zhou Mi of Super Junior-M getting his chance to stand in the spotlight, and Heize bringing back the old school in collaboration with DEAN. On this week's Asian Entertainment News, the latest on the lawsuits between former EXO members Kris Wu and Lu Han, and their former label, SM Entertainment. All that and more on this week's Asian Wave 101.

An interesting collection of styles, from R&B and hip hop to rock and electronic. Neon Bunny, bona fide indie, experimental singer-songwriter is back with a new full-length album. Jay Chou dedicates a new album to his infant daughter, and Jay Park & Ugly Duck keeps the party going with a collaboration. This week, we feature Lucas Teague, an R&B group from Montreal. All that and more on this week's Asian Wave 101.

An interesting mix of styles this week. From rock to R&B to reggae and other great genres starting with "R". Della Wu is back with a new album, tackling more diverse genres outside of ballads. Khalil Fong releases another new single leading up to the release of his album in September. The Wonder Girls bring a solid reggae effort, and Subin of Dal Shabet breaks away from the stereotype of girl group members having few notable talents outside of singing and dancing. All that and more on this week's Asian Wave 101.

This week, in honour of 4Minute's disbandment, we have Volume Up, one of their best releases in their 6 years together. Also on the show, old and new faces in the industry. Patrick Brasca sings the anthem for this year's International Children's Games held in Taiwan, and Jess Lee brings this week's ballad. Two of Korea's best vocalists, Taeyeon and DEAN, collaborate on a simple, yet effective, track. All that and more on this week's Asian Wave 101.

We really need more duets. So that's why I brought in Sun Nan and Han Hong. Also from the Mandarin language music industry, G.U.T.S bringing a straightforward, gritty hip hop track, not commonly heard in that industry. Kisum refuses to be defined only by her looks and brings a solid effort from Korean hip hop and Taiwanese-American singer Cindy Yen returns to her musical roots. All that and more on this week's Asian Wave 101.

We have an interesting mix of styles on the show this week. Jane Zhang brings an unexpected but welcome EDM tracks, and BTS from Korea are showcasing their ability to bare their emotions. Eric Chou has the ballad of the week, and SISTAR doesn't like cheaters. Canadian musicians featured this week are J.Reyez, and Jordan Lorenzo featuring Raiel. All on this week's Asian Wave 101.

Not as much music as usual this week, but I promise more next week. Khalil Fong is finally back after a year and will also be releasing a new full-length album after two years. EXO is bringing the new Trap and R&B fusion style. Jess Lee bringing a song more aggressive than her usual fare, and Pryde is back after a year-long hiatus. All that and more on this week's Asian Wave 101.

There is never a shortage of different styles within Asian music. Taiwanese rock band 831 brings punk rock styling to Mandarin music, to accompany Janice Yan's power ballad. Korea is going through an R&B music revival, and I have the latest efforts in that movement from Hoody of AOMG and Chancellor. All that and more on this week's Asian Wave 101.

Music is a platform for social change, and that's what Cui Jian's "Nothing To My Name" is all about. It was the unofficial anthem for the 1989 student protests in Beijing. We also have tastes of more conventional pop from Korea and Japan, Mandarin rock from Taiwan as well as the re-interpretation of an old hit, courtesy of AOMG. All on this week's Asian Wave 101

This week on Asian Wave 101, I bring to you a mixture of different styles, from disco and funk to pop rock, as well as R&B and hip hop. Some of the artists you'll hear this week include the usually wacky and zany Block B, slowing it down and bringing the softer hip hop sound, and Hong Kong's pop diva G.E.M. with her usual strong vocals. Also in the mix, Chen of EXO in a collaboration with rapper Heize, and Taiwanese rock recording artist Alien Huang. Our Canadian artist of the week is Raiel.Asian Wave 101's 2nd anniversary is May 1, 2016, but this year, I won't be here to celebrate due to commitments with work and school. I will be taking a four week hiatus, and will be back at the end of the next month. This week on Asian Wave 101, it's the trendy edition. Asian music industries are going some transitional phases and more sounds are finding their way to the airwaves across the Pacific. Korean boy band GOT7 bringing a sound inspired by trap music, Lu Han and Hyomin bring more modern R&B sounds. KittiB, first runner-up of Unpretty Rapstar Season 2 delivers a raw, dark and passionate performance on 'Doin' Good' featuring Verbal Jint. Our Canadian artist for the week is Vancouver-based hip hop duo Gentleman's Vibe.

Apologies for the absence last week!This week, an interesting mix. Namie Amuro starts us off with a song completely in English, reminding us all to keep our heads up and that you can do anything you set your mind to. Also in the mix, folk rock singer-songwriter William "Weibird" Wei, Yezi and our Canadian artist of the week, Raiel. To wrap up, Jackie Chan and Kim Hee Sun with a cross cultural collboration "Endless Love" from the 2005 movie "The Myth" starring the aforementioned superstars of Asian cinema. It's our favorite time of the year at CiTR, it's FUNDRIVE! For the Fundrive special, we're joined by Angela Chang with something inspirational to kick us off, indie singer Eddy Kim with Beenzino and Khalil Fong to wrap up. Music aside, I'm joined in studio by some very special guests, including Rohit of Soul Sandwich and former Asian Wave 101 co-host Michelle Kim, and in lieu of this week's news segment, we had a great discussion on this year's Fundrive theme "Growing Our Cultures." All on this week's Asian Wave 101.

This week, we have an interview with local singer, rapper and producer Raiel. The interview heard today is only a portion and the whole interview will be up on my SoundCloud soon. This week, we have Korean R&B singer DEAN, showcasing his diverse sound and adventurous collaboration with American singer-songwriter Eric Bellinger. Khalil Fong with his jazzy, and oddly upbeat break up song "BB88," Della with a familiar ballad track and Brave Girls bringing a new twist to the Korean girl group formula. All on this week's Asian Wave 101.

This week's show features the experimental sounds of JJ Lin, and his foray into "dummy head recording." Yezi of FIESTAR, is reborn as one of the fiercest female MCs in Korea with Cider and her first solo EP "Foresight Dream." SEVENTEEN and Rainbow from South Korea are here to show you just two things to say if you're every flustered by someone you're attracted to. Hong Kong pop diva G.E.M. and Taiwanese singer Jiajia with brilliant vocal ability, all wrapped up by Sodagreen with "Beyond The Wall." This week's Canadian artist is Toronto-based artist Pryde, formerly known as D-Pryde, bringing both polished singing and hard-hitting rhymes. All on this week's Asian Wave 101.

Another late start so short show, my apologies!This week, some smoother sounds in honour of Valentine's Day coming up in a few days. DEAN with Crush and Jeff Bernat, three talented vocalists, delivering some old Boyz II Men vibes. Jane Zhang with "Forever," a welcome change from her usual ballad staples. Jam Hsiao with his angelic voice covering "One Chance At Love" by Pan Yue Yun, and this week's Canadian artist, Jordan Lorenzo. To wrap up, Neon Bunny with an experimental combination of R&B, pop and traditional sounds in "Romance in Seoul." All on this week's Asian Wave 101.

Bit of a shorter show this week, my apologies.This week, Jolin Tsai is starting us off with her EDM influenced sound. Chancelor and Bumkey with the slick, smooth polished sounds of R&B, a song that I played before but did not get the chance to cover in depth. Our Canadian artist for February 3 is Toronto-based hip hop artist J.Reyez, bringing the harder hip hop sounds and the laid back vibes of the West Coast. To wrap up, Alien Huang from Taiwan, telling us what we sometimes take for granted: that the happiest moments are the ones we enjoy with good friends. All on this week's Asian Wave 101.

This week, CNBLUE searches for their "Cinderella" with a single and album released September 2015. Ailee, showing off why she's called "Korea's Beyonce" and how no one has been able to take that title from her. Not-so-common, acoustic sounds from J.Arie and Mandarin music this week, and the legendary T.M.Revolution from Japan. Our Canadian artist this week is Vancouver-based hard rock band Cry Of Silence, all wrapped up by the smooth, soulful stylings of Khalil Fong. All on this week's Asian Wave 101.

A shorter show this week, my apologies once again!This week, Zico of Block B going back to the basics with the hard hitting, gritty Veni Vidi Vici. Singer-dancer Niko Sun, part of a less common breed, bring the slick R&B feel, as well as Rosie and Landy Wen. Song Jieun of Korean girl group SECRET with Don't Look At Me That Way, a subtle yet powerful song about wanting to live life on one's own terms, away from scrutiny. Our Canadian artist of the week is Raiel, bringing the smooth and polished R&B sound, both contemporary and traditional. All on this week's Asian Wave 101.

Bright and cheery, unlike the weather, Korean girl group Lovelyz with "For You" to put a smile on your face. JJ Lin displaying a very experimental sound with "Adolescent," showcasing a new album and new sound, through dummy head recording to put you right there, at the performance. Japanese hip hop group Rip Slyme with a smooth, polished mix of funk, jazz and hip hop and Miu Chu bringing the motivation, plus more on this week's Asian Wave 101.

First show of the 2016, Happy New Year! This week, plenty of indie talent to show a different side of the Asian entertainment world. From South Korea, Neon Bunny, who proudly declares she needs no label to make music, that's what makes it original. Bii from Taiwan brings his own take on music, based on his own mixed heritage. The outspoken diva of divas of Taiwan A-Mei brings something different every time. This week's Canadian artists both chose to pursue their careers in the countries their parents came from, and they deserve some love from us too. To end, the sensual, almost carnal, music of Giriboy from Korea. All on this week's Asian Wave 101.

It's the last show of 2015! This week, some Asian songs that are suitable to the winter season. Korean boy band SHINee, R&B singer Boni, Taiwanese-American Mandopop newcomer Rosie and Eric are bringing the smooth sounds to warm your hearts for the winter. Also featured this week, BoA, the Queen of Kpop with a holiday song sung completely in English. Chinese indie rock band Escape Plan with a song to remind you to always look for that brightest glimmer of hope. Our Canadian artists of the week are J.Reyez and D-Pryde, two of the forerunners of Asian hip hop scene that built their careers using YouTube. All on this week's Asian Wave 101.Happy Holidays! This week is the countdown in no particular order of my top songs of the 2015 year. Simon Dominic bringing the nostalgic vibes of the West Coast, Khalil spreading the positive message of letting music transcend all. It was another great year for G.E.M., Primary bringing another slick production with the added bonus of vocals from ChoA of girl group AOA. Alaha Meiri brings the freshness to the mix. All on this week's Asian Wave 101.

The latest release from Korean girl group f(x) following the departure of member Sulli, showcasing their new softer, EDM sound. From the Chinese-language music industry, Taiwan's William "Weibird" Wei, one of Mandarin music's most beloved rock singer-songwriters, and also Hong Kong pop artist G.E.M. with another new track from her new album "Heartbeat." Also on this week's show, Korean-American rapper Flowsik and the Queen of Kpop, BoA. The youthful voiced Jason Zhang/Zhang Jie is the last track on today's playlist, telling the story of his rocky moments with his now-wife Xie Na. All on this week's Asian Wave 101.

The first taste of hip hop music in a Chinese language this week, with Taiwanese group Da Mouth. Joey Yung has made her return to music with a new mini-album and A-Mei continues to dominate with her star power and strong vocals and sheer musicality. Also featured is Hyukoh, one of the hottest indie bands in South Korea right now. IU is back with a new album 'Chat-Shire' and the lead single '23' celebrating her transition from the teenage singing darling of Korea to a grown artist. P-Type, one of the originators in Korean hip hop, and another talented R&B singer-songwriter Xiao Yu from Taiwan are bringing more urban sounds. It was wrapped up with Toronto-based hip hop artist J.Reyez. All on this week's Asian Wave 101.

Without really intending to have it this way, it is unofficial Asian R&B day! G.E.M. is back with a brand new full length album, preceded by a special release project of releasing 10 new songs with 10 new music videos. Two of the freshest faces in Korean R&B Hoody Kim and DΞΔN bringing the sultry vibes. The foremost artist of the classic R&B sound in Chinese music Khalil Fong, as well as Jolin Tsai, and two Eric's, Eric Nam and Eric Chou, adding more pop driven sounds to the mix. All on this week's Asian Wave 101.

The foul-mouthed, unapologetic, viral hip hop sensation Black Nut with Verbal Jint and San E, and the freshest faces in the industry in Korean music today. Also on the list, Sodagreen's lead single from their upcoming album "Winter: Endless" as well as the bright and upbeat Qi Wei from the Mandarin music world. Also, Wang Feng showing his soulful side, and Heize from South Korea, showing rappers can sing just as well. All on this week's Asian Wave 101.

Ever wonder what rock music sounds like when interpreted by Mandarin speaking artists? This week should answer those your questions, with folk-rock singer-songwriter William Wei aka Weibird, and Taiwanese punk band 831. Of course, Han Seungyeon of Kara cannot be neglected as she's bringing her own rock sensibility. Vancouver-based singer-songwriter Daniel Kim with his original house track "Letting Go" this week, as well as Hong Kong pop diva G.E.M's latest single. From Korea, rookie "hip hop boy group" (I know it sounds funny) Monsta X and a tribute to J Dilla by Chancellor and R&B artist Bumkey. A new release from the global dream team Got7, a collaboration between two talented singers, both from different industries. f(x), Jay Chou, renowned singer-songwriter David Tao on today's playlist.
