Dr Arthur Laffer & David Quan 权丁文 | Presidential Medal of Freedom, Laffer Curve (Smithsonian), TIME 'Century's Greatest Minds', UK 'Prosperity Through Growth' (5 PMs Interviewed), 85YO Father of 6, Live Global Q&A | Coffee's on Me, Podcast Community

Dr. Arthur Laffer: "In over half a century advising presidents and prime ministers, and as an Economics professor, I've loved 'badass' youths - the few who actually do their homework, have personal curiosity about our broader world, and aren't afraid to push back constructively to problem-solve. From meeting David Quan 权丁文 at the Oxford Union to our special engagement for his Podcast Coffee's on Me - with students around the world joining live - I felt reinvigorated on why I still love engaging with young people even at age 85. David's founding ideals of giving, learning, and sharing mirror my own, and the global community he's built proves the point: get the incentives right, and people flourish! Over 3 hours, David asked well-researched questions, got me rocking, and I'd gladly return for more elaborate debates!"Thank you to Laffer Associates - Jillian Rooney and Belinda Dwyer - for their coordination, and to the Oxford Union for hosting Dr. Laffer's address where we first connected!Full video interview with Dr Arthur Laffer available on: www.CoffeesOnMeDavidQuan.com! Join the 'Coffee's on Me, David Quan 权丁文' Podcast Community - 1 Gift in Newsletter, 10+ socials, 100+ interviews, 20,000+ contributors - for more opportunities 💙Dr. Arthur Laffer is one of the most influential economists of the past half-century. But with David Quan 权丁文, Alsama became lucky. No other interviewer prepared so broadly and probed so deeply. At times, I felt uncomfortable, but that was a price I was glad to pay in return for empathy and understanding. I now understand why 'Coffee's on Me, David Quan 权丁文' Podcast commands such a following and community.“ Thank you to Nigel, Fairy, and Amelia for the filming! ---Richard Verity is a former management consultant and ex-McKinsey partner who, in 2020, radically changed his life trajectory. Alongside Kadria Hussein, Mohammed Khair, and his wife Meike (Micah) Ziervogel, he co-founded the Alsama Project — meaning "the sky" in Arabic. The journey that led to Alsama began, as Richard describes it, with a "simultaneous midlife crisis." Meike had written five novels and was running a publishing company in North London; Richard was spending his time in company headquarters, airports, and hotels. What was missing from their outwardly privileged lives was a palpable feeling of social impact. So, when their children left for university, they went to Lebanon. There, Richard did, in his words, "one brilliant thing": he introduced cricket to the teenagers of Shatila refugee camp, simply because he spoke no Arabic and needed a way to connect. As a non-contact sport where boys and girls can train and compete together, cricket became what Richard calls "a crash course in coping with success and failure" — and critically, a vehicle for girls' leadership in a context where 41% face early marriage. As Head of Strategy and Development, Richard has helped grow Alsama from a small empowerment centre into an award-winning NGO. They now operate four WASC-accredited education centres serving over 1,000 students - 66% of whom are girls - alongside 22 cricket hubs reaching 900 players across Lebanon. In February 2025, they launched their first international education centre in Syria. The model is remarkable: 90% of students arrive completely illiterate, yet Alsama prepares them for university in six years rather than twelve. The project has prevented early marriage for 256 girls - 99% of cases. And in 2026, they will launch the G12++, a first-of-its-kind, curriculum-agnostic high school equivalent certification designed for and by refugees and displaced youth, co-developed with Cambridge Assessment, Oxford MeasurED, the University of Leicester, and Alsama's own students. What speaks most to Alsama's character: during the 2024 war in Lebanon, they were the only educational provider that did not miss a single day of school.Their work has been recognised with the 2024 Library of Congress Literacy Award and the 2025 Ockenden Prize for advancing the self-reliance of refugees.---WHY? Despite being encroached upon by a ladybird, a wasp, and a stray coffee cup over the course of the conversation, I wouldn’t have change the outdoor setting for the world. David was such a generous and thoughtful interlocutor and a natural interviewer, who allowed me to feel at ease, despite my general introversion. There were moments of real symbiosis that I’ll remember fondly and I am glad they were captured. It’s certainly the most intimate and personal interview I’ve done to date and I learned a little about myself too: namely that I am really bad at lightning round answers (sorry). But we covered so many topics close to my heart: books, mental health, smell in its many facets (of course), bisexuality, and how to cope with being a creative and empathetic person in an increasingly harsh world.“ Thank you to Zhilin Xu 徐之霖 for the filming and video editing! Join DQuan-mmunity of 20 000+: www.CoffeesOnMeDavidQuan.com… where we kindly share ‘legacy-worthy’ life/study/career interviews, systems, and resources flourishing our Hero's Journey. Receive my Gifts repository & Newsletter with behind-the-scenes insights – 100% free, all to forward on my blessings! ---Dr. Ally Louks is an author, public academic, and supervisor in English Literature at the University of Cambridge. ☕'s on Me, David Quan 权丁文 Cambridge Union Election Special Series: Chris Lorde - Presidential CandidateEpisode 103 of #CoffeesOnMeDavidQuan: Chris Lorde is a second-year undergraduate reading HSPS (Human, Social, and Political Sciences) at Christ's College, University of Cambridge. A born Londoner and Windrush generation descendant, Chris grew up in a few places — from London to Reading, to Texas and Toronto. His diverse upbringing has given him a million and a half tales to tell, but it's also inspired a passion for social justice and challenging the status quo. He's currently the Secretary of the Cambridge Union and is running for President for the second time, having previously served as Equalities Officer before his first presidential campaign. He's also served as LGBTQ+ Officer for the Cambridge ACS, has spent multiple terms on the committee of the Cambridge University Labour Club, and regularly gets involved with societies like the ADC and Cam FM.Chris's passion for debating, dialogue, and social justice is a long-standing one. Before arriving in Cambridge, he was the National Director of Debate for the Junior State of America (JSA), a civic-engagement organisation that formerly held the title of the largest student-led organisation in the US. While involved, Christopher led JSA's Racial Justice Task Force, which in 2020 was nominated for an American Civic Collaboration Award, receiving an honourable mention alongside projects led by names Andrew Yang and Washington DC Mayor Muriel Bowser. He was also an active competitor on the local, state, and national speech & debate circuit, qualifying four years in a row to the National Speech and Debate Tournament and the National Individual Events Tournament of Champions. By the end of his time in high school, Chris was ranked #1 in Texas and top 10 in the US for competitive points earned in Informative Speaking. Those passions for debate and for justice still hold — he's given multiple paper speeches at the Union, too many speeches to count at CULC's Pints & Policy, and continues to remain involved politically at home (wherever that may be) and at Cambridge."Joining David for the Podcast was a wonderful experience - his questions truly reflected an impeccable degree of care and research, and the interview environment made me feel like I could truly open up and be honest. Isaac Chan | Co-Conductor & Principal Horn of the Cambridge University Symphony Orchestra (CUSO) as Year 1 Clare Fresher, Chetham’s School of Music, HK/UK Education Experiences, Professional Music Aspirations, Cultures | Coffee's on Me, David Quan 权丁文

Episode 99 of #CoffeesOnMeDavidQuan: Isaac Chan is a first-year music student at Clare College of Cambridge University. He is currently principal horn of the Cambridge University Orchestra, and is a designated conducting scholar for 2024-25 conducting the symphony orchestra and wind orchestra of Cambridge. Originally from Hong Kong, he started playing the horn at age 7, developing an interest in conducting through ample experience playing in orchestras. A recent graduate from Chetham’s School of Music sixth form, he founded and conducted a student group Chetham’s Camerata, and gave his operatic debut of Hansel and Gretel at age 16 among other ambitious projects. He has conducted orchestras such as the Liverpool Mozart Orchestra, the Berlin Sinfonietta, and has collaborated with various music societies at Cambridge; at venues such as the Bridgewater Hall (Manchester), Ely Cathedral, and the Foundation William Walton on the beautiful island of Ischia。 Isaac is particularly enthusiastic about opera conducting, having recently directed a re-conception of The Marriage of Figaro and Don Giovanni, as well as a premiere at the University Opera Society. As of 2024 he looks forwards to debuting with the Hong Kong Youth Philharmonia, Hertfordshire Opera and others, in an array of projects of stellar magnitudes. He currently studies horn and conducting with teachers at the Royal Academy of Music. He has worked with and been mentored by conductors such as Grant Llewellyn, Colin Metters, Timothy Redmond, and Sian Edwards. To enrich his experience as a conductor, Isaac started playing collaborative piano three years ago, and is now a frequently sought after accompanist for any sort of repertoire. Outside of music, Isaac enjoys reading and investigating anything related to literature and arts, with a particular interest in Chinese calligraphy. He enjoys taking long walks, be it along the harbour of Hong Kong or in the British countryside, or simply discovering any sorts of new places – although he is equally at home curled up with a score and a coffee! “Talking to David was among the best ways to spend a Monday morning – a kind, enthusiastic host who was eager to find out about MY story. It was immensely helpful in helping me reach beyond my musical routines, into more nostalgic and spiritual territories, quite often forsaken in a chaotic schedule! I’m very grateful for this opportunity – 100% would recommend it!” - Isaac---WHY? Episode 95 of #CoffeesOnMeDavidQuan: Simon Staal recently completed his studies in computer engineering at Imperial College London, one of the best technical universities in the world. As somehow who has always been competitive in the classroom, Simon has an extensive history of prizes attained over his academic journey, recently culminating into being awarded the Siemens Memorial Medal for graduating with the top score in his department. Having lived in 10 countries across 4 continents, Simon has a culturally diverse background, and has helped him gain a strong sense of gratitude for the opportunities he's been given. This has fueled his strong urge to help others, reflected in many years of mentoring and extensive involvement in student representation, for which he was awarded the Electrical Engineering department's Denis Gabour prize for outstanding contributions to student life. On a more personal level, Simon has recently reignited his passion in climbing in the form of indoor bouldering (the most stereotypical software engineer hobby in existence), and enjoys spending his remaining free time hanging out with friends and loved ones, keeping fit, or diving into one of the many games on his list which have accumulated over the busy course of his degree. Having just wrapped up 3 months of travelling in Iceland and South East Asia, he is briefly back in London for his graduation ceremony before moving to Amsterdam to rejoin Optiver as a graduate software engineer. Episode 93 of #CoffeesOnMeDavidQuan: Stephanie Webb is a second year English student at Homerton College, University of Cambridge. She grew up in a trilingual environment in Hong Kong where she attended a local school for 12 years followed by an international school. She was granted membership to the Hong Kong Academy for Gifted Education (HKAGE) in Year 8, and was awarded a double honorary and academic scholarship when she was at Harrow HK. Language, culture and identity are largely at the core of her interests. She’s particularly intrigued by the Asian diaspora literary niche, as she feels it resonates with her experience the most. Feminist literature is her key interest as well, and she’s looking to introduce recitals/ discussion groups through being on the committee of the Cambridge Gender Studies Society. She’s always been passionate about writing and expressing herself through words; she believes literature can be used not just as a platform for self-expression, but also as a catalyst for social change. She wrote for Hong Kong’s largest youth-led nonprofit, ISSIA magazine, a publication centred around empowering student voices and raising awareness for global issues. In particular, she feels strongly about making Cambridge more accessible to international students of a lower socioeconomic background, and is working as a mentor for the student organisation Access Abroad HK. Taking her ideas off the paper, she participated in two TEDx initiatives, with both of her talks being selected to be published when she was 13 and 16. She was awarded the prestigious Hong Kong Young Writers award in 2019, and placed in several other writing competitions. A number of her works have been published, such as in the HKAGE’s ‘Out Stand’ publication which chose to exhibit four of her stories. As the first Poet Laureate for Harrow, poetry holds a special place in her heart. She had a lot of fun hosting poetry workshops and was commissioned to write poems on different occasions. At university, she’s enjoying writing for Varsity and is looking forward to starting her new role as Editor for the Cambridge Language Collective. Outside of writing, she is a fan of theatre and performance. She used to be (embarrassingly so, as she recounts), a huge theatre kid, even playing Oliver Twist in a school production. She hopes to become more involved in the Cambridge theatre scene next year."Talking to David was one of the most though-provoking conversations I’ve had – he truly is a wonderful listener and interviewer. It was almost cathartic to be able to unpack the different facets of my identity that I think make me who I am, and I’m definitely going to be thinking about the questions he posed for a long time!" - Stephanie Webb---WHY? She hopes to become more involved in the Cambridge theatre scene next year."Talking to David was one of the most though-provoking conversations I’ve had – he truly is a wonderful listener and interviewer. It was almost cathartic to be able to unpack the different facets of my identity that I think make me who I am, and I’m definitely going to be thinking about the questions he posed for a long time!" - Stephanie Webb---WHY? Episode 92 of #CoffeesOnMeDavidQuan: Alexa (Lexi) Mousley is a third year PhD candidate at the MRC Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit at the University of Cambridge. Supported by the Gates-Cambridge scholarship, Lexi uses computational models to better understand the development of structural brain networks, particularly during infancy and early development. Beyond her studies, Lexi is a member of the Blues basketball team and enjoys woodworking, hiking, and playing guitar and Nintendo. Before Cambridge, Lexi graduated with honours from Vassar College. She studied neuroscience and behaviour, worked in the Memory Neuroscience lab, and minored in education. She also played varsity basketball and rugby. Lexi was born and raised in Vermont, USA, and her family play a pivotal role in supporting her as she navigates the world as a head-strong, queer woman with an auditory processing disorder."I am grateful to David for facilitating an interesting and deep discussion. SPOTLIGHT: Olivia Woods | The Greatest Start... ? 😂 | Coffee's on Me, David Quan 权丁文

Episode 91 of #CoffeesOnMeDavidQuan: Olivia Woods is a second-year student studying Theology at Sidney Sussex College, University of Cambridge. To the slight frustration of her former teachers, Olivia has always had an urge to question whatever information was taught to her, potentially sparking her passion for Theology - a subject that is essentially built on asking difficult questions. Having attended Catholic school, religion has always been at the forefront of Olivia’s education and provided an abundance of opportunities for debate and conversations about faith. Whilst at school, Olivia was a prolific public speaker and Debate Club member - competing in national English Speaking Union competitions. At the age of 15, Olivia became a national finalist after winning district and regional rounds and performed at Churchill College Cambridge, having previously spoken about topics ranging from the existence of old age to the collection of personal data. As the Access Officer at Sidney, Olivia also has a keen interest in promoting the inclusiveness and accessibility of a Cambridge education. Being a first-gen student and coming from a state school, Olivia felt the disadvantages that many state school students experience and now strives to improve accessibility in all areas. When not questioning the existence of God, Olivia is a keen footballer who successfully trialled for Blues and previously captained her grassroots team, all whilst experiencing the inequalities that exist within the women’s game."David has the impeccable ability to stretch your ideas and opinions, but still keeping the conversation light and entertaining. Episode 88 of #CoffeesOnMeDavidQuan: Andre Pancholi is a second-year Geography student at Homerton College, University of Cambridge. His primary interests centre around sustainability, politics, ecology, identity, developmental economics and climate change. Motivated by his desire to see a non-environmentally destructive developmental trajectory for the Earth within our lifetime, he has been a part of several grass-roots environmental initiatives, including a community-wide beach clean while volunteering in Ghana, as well as a school-wide tree planting day in his local borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. He has also written several articles on how social media and the internet can empower individuals to drive global social justice movements across the world, with one of these articles winning the prestigious John Locke Essay Prize for Politics and a scholarship of £2,000 (alongside publication in an academic journal). Keen to put his ideas into action, after finishing school he decided to take a gap year, spending almost 6 months living abroad working as a voluntary teacher in Ghana and Nepal. There, he gained insight into the developmental challenges (and successes) of rural communities in the developing world. Now a university student, he is been keen to involve himself in as many different sides of University life as possible - from being a choral scholar of Homerton College, welfare officer of his college's JCR, to being the Vice President of the Geography Society. Andre Pancholi | Life-threatening Kidnapped in Ghana, 7 Years Jail Threat, Rhino Incident Nepal, Health Scare Indonesia Hospital, Gap Year, Sustainability/GlobalJustice/Business/Choral Scholar, Religious Transformations | Coffee's on Me, David Quan 权丁文

Outside of University, singing (and music in general) have been important constants throughout his life, and he has been performing in various capacities since the age of 8! Coming from a multicultural background, as well as being the son of a serial entrepreneur, he reflects on how his upbringing has shaped his future career and life ambitions. Episode 87 of #CoffeesOnMeDavidQuan: Austin Wang (formerly known as Zijia) is about to enter his 1st year studying Economics and Management at St Hilda’s Xolege, University of Oxford. Having been brought up by first generation Chinese immigrants, he has navigated growing up in two different worlds, one at home and one being at a British highly selective independent school. His father and mother both had very few opportunities growing up (although this didn’t stop his father from getting a masters degree in engineering!) having grown up in mainland China during the Mao era, and were determined to give him opportunities that they weren’t given as a child, with him being in private education since he was born - even whilst his parents worked as dishwashers on minimum wage. His parents have had a huge impact on his upbringing and on the person he has become today, and he feels as though he owes much of his current and future success to the way that they have brought him up until today. His passions generally revolve around sports and music, having played rugby for a professional teams developing player program (Northampton Saints), competing in multiple national hockey finals and founding a football team during his time in high school. He finds comfort in anything outdoors. His parents also convinced him to take up the violin and piano, something he is eternally grateful for. Again, highlighting the disparity between worlds that he grew up in. For him, balancing commitments such as these alongside his dedication to the academics were particularly difficult, especially in his younger years, with him currently trying to maintain the balance especially as he goes from a teenager to a young man. “Being interviewed by David was one of the most thought provoking, insightful experiences that I have undergone. He digs deep, leaving no stone unturned in an interview that almost felt as though he knew more about my own upbringing than even I do! The questions were perfectly timed, encouraging me to think more and uncover additional points to my past that I hadn’t even originally considered.” – Austin Wang---WHY? SPOTLIGHT #2: Raymond Zhao 赵英麒 (AI + Blockchain + Large Language Models, How to Get Started) | Coffee's on Me, David Quan 权丁文

Happy birthday to our courageous guest Raymond! 😊Episode 85 of #CoffeesOnMeDavidQuan: Raymond Zhao 赵英麒 is a Mathematics and Statistics student at Lincoln College, University of Oxford. Although he grew up on the sunny coast of Sydney, Raymond has lived in Australia, China, and now the UK. This diverse mix of cultural up brining sparked his passion for understanding different perspectives, and shaped his values around family, career and life’s purpose. Raymond is a keen reader of non-fictional books, especially around ‘self-help’, and has the fun tendency of getting into philosophical discussions when he’s drunk with friends. Despite wanting to be an architect as a kid, he somehow finds himself at the cross point between Venture Capital, AI, Entrepreneurship, ESG and Quant Finance. Right now, Raymond is pioneering Oxford’s first ever student run VC fund to help support and catalyst the University’s undergraduate start-up ecosystem. Raymond describes the challenges of balancing his social life and personal hobbies, such as basketball and piano, with his academic and career ambitions. And how the competitive environment at Oxford reshaped his perspective on life on how to navigate his ambitions, offering insights into the varied definitions of success and happiness. Raymond is also a firm believer of personal brand and coffee chats (insisting he ‘does not have a caffeine addiction’), and enjoys building relationships in many different communities, across continents. Although many believe Raymond’s life peaked when he played football with Maradona, Raymond himself hopes his journey has many more peaks ahead. Looking forward, Raymond’s keen to build a career and life that’s interconnected, stimulating and meaningful, wherever that path may lead him. "Speaking with David was such a pleasure, he is such a fantastic interviewer and was engaging and challenging in all the right ways. The Body Coach Joe Wicks' 'most enjoyable interview ever' | David Quan | The Cambridge Union

The Body Coach Joe Wicks is widely known as a British fitness coach, TV presenter and author, best known for his ‘Lean in 15’ meal plans and workout videos. Since the first UK National Lockdown in March 2020 ( as of April 2021), the 115 'PE With Joe' live workouts enjoyed remarkable success worldwide:* 100 million YouTube views * 1 Guinness World Record (955 185 views concurrent views) * 610 000 pounds raised for the NHS and BBC Children in Need---FEEDBACK: During: “... most enjoyable interview I’ve ever had. You are so well researched and so smart and asked some really great questions… should definitely be an investigative journalist!”After: "...really enjoyed our chat and was very impressed with the background research . Youclearly made lots of effort to really get to know about my journey and mission and thequestions asked were fantastic. Thank you David and best of luck."Book gift: "To David Quan... best interviewer I've ever met...".--- WHY? COFFEE'S ON ME, DAVID QUAN 权丁文 TL;DR: To process my emotions after a grueling campaign for President of The Cambridge Union, I reflected upon the influences of my late Grandfather and wrote him a letter: https://www.varsity.co.uk/features/23458 . Drawing inspiration from him, I hope to learn more from others through genuine discussions – giving listeners heartfelt conversations filled with authentic insights, and giving guests legacy-worthy interviews to treasure. My interactions with the diverse individuals of the wider community, especially during my campaign for President of The Cambridge Union, were character-shaping and memorable. I was genuinely touched by those who resonated with my vision underpinned by accessibility and inclusivity, who courageously shared their poignant life stories. Equally, I respected those who did not to support my campaign, who kindly dissected my shortcomings and flaws. When writing to my late Grandfather as a reflective exercise, I was inspired to set up this Podcast. To converse with someone without a strict time limit or structure – meticulously engaging in a curious process of clarifications or elaborations – is not only a rare privilege. This longer format also allows the sharing of otherwise unshared or unappreciated anecdotes. There are appeals to sound-bite media, of course, but the metrics that matter most to me are more about the uniqueness of contribution than measures of virality. Over time, I hope to be able to better deconstruct guests' fascinating experiences – to seamlessly tease out the insights for listeners to enjoy and learn from while cooking, commuting, relaxing, or walking their pet. But this personal project is fundamentally as much about what we can learn from the guests as it is to give them (current) legacy-worthy interviews. My top priority is for guests to enjoy a unique opportunity to challenge, learn about, and be themselves; hopefully, there will be able to keep recordings of in-depth, heartfelt conversations to reflect on in years’ time. And the best part for guests? Fuelled by her rich heritage and the intricate nuances of her socio-economic upbringing, Sam threads joy through her poetry while tirelessly amplifying the voices of marginalised communities. Currently, she's embarking on an architectural journey at the esteemed University of Cambridge. Architecture's allure first embraced her when she triumphed in the People's Pavilion competition, seeing her design materialised in the heart of the Here East Olympic Park. One of her most authentic endeavours bloomed in collaboration with Ralph Lauren. Together, they explored the beauty of growing up in Tower Hamlets, culminating in poignant poetry that graced the screens of Genesis Cinema and the Richmix stage. Episode 83 of #CoffeesOnMeDavidQuan: As the youngest child of 3, Sophie Boxall (Education @ Homerton College, University of Cambridge) is all too familiar with the struggle to meet the achievements of her siblings. She has an older brother with autism who defied expectations of him based in ableism and graduated from University of Portsmouth with a 2:1 in Biomedical Science after being told he couldn’t even attend a mainstream secondary school let alone go to University. To continue to raise the bar, her sister achieved the highest grades she could have at every educational level (annoyingly for Sophie) and graduated from the University of Oxford with a BA in English and to top it off did a masters at Corpus Christi College, University of Cambridge, during Sophie’s first year at Cambridge!A passion of Sophie’s is striving to achieve inclusive education and an inclusive society, this is particularly due to her experience of living and struggling with a hidden disability, her role as a young carer and her time working with children with additional needs. Sophie has been a feminist since the womb and feels this has created a perpetual undertone (or a very obvious one) of anger to accompany this, causing her to develop pretty good debating skills, which is a nightmare for anyone she argues with.Sophie has struggled with mental health issues through a prominent part of her teenage years, with a lot of trauma and anxiety causing her first year at Uni to be fairly tumultuous to say the least. During her teens, Sophie’s family experienced a lot of illness and her father being made redundant, so she experienced the move from middle (ish) class to working class. Sophie believes that this period of her life has been very significant in shaping her understanding of the world and definitely solidified her already firm political beliefs, and despite the cultural weight offered by 2010s in terms of pop culture (carried mainly by Glee and the british youtube scene), for Sophie it’s been a decade of feeling the expectation of figuring out her extraordinary “dreams” whilst just feeling pretty ordinary.“Speaking to David was well worth the excessive amounts of tubes, whilst giving legacy worthy interviews he has also created his own legacy of learning and sharing experiences in an open and non judgemental space; all the while prioritising the stories of others over his own, a truly impressive feat as most people love to talk about themselves (me included). Being given the opportunity to explore my own story made me feel valued and David has a way of making nothing off the table, i truly feel the puzzle of my life has gained a lot following my discussion with him!“ - Sophie Boxall---WHY? Episode 82 of #CoffeesOnMeDavidQuan: Emma Dix has just finished her first year studying Economics at Girton College, University of Cambridge, and coming back to the UK for university has been the 7th time she has moved countries and the 11th time she has moved houses. From living in Nigeria, India, Spain, the UK and most recently the UAE, she's had her fair share of travel as well as the ability to experience many different cultures across the world. Over time, Emma has been able to discover her passions for both Mathematics and Economic Development, something that she has been able to delve deeper into within her degree. Simultaneously, she's had quite a few life lessons when it comes to making friends and sustaining long-lasting relationships, something which therapy to understand her ASD has certainly aided. In her free time, Emma can generally be found in a coffee shop (drinking an iced latte), having in-depth discussions with friends about any topic under the sun (most recently, the cultural significance of the Barbie movie) or preaching her love for Animal Crossing to anyone willing to listen.“I had such an amazing experience! David is such an awesome interviewer, and it was a genuine pleasure to have such a deep and thought-provoking conversation with someone who is as receptive and understanding as he is! ”– Emma Dix---WHY? COFFEE'S ON ME, DAVID QUAN 权丁文TL;DR: To process my emotions after a grueling campaign for President of The Cambridge Union, I reflected upon the influences of my late Grandfather and wrote him a letter: https://linktr.ee/DavidQuan . Drawing inspiration from him, I hope to learn more from others through genuine discussions – giving listeners heartfelt conversations filled with authentic insights, and giving guests legacy-worthy interviews to treasure. My top priority is for guests to enjoy a unique opportunity to challenge, learn about, and be themselves; hopefully, they will be able to keep recordings of in-depth, heartfelt conversations to reflect on in years’ time.  And the best part for guests? He was born in London, grew up in Derbyshire and attended Christ's Hospital School in Sussex. At Cambridge he is a dedicated college rower, though by his own admission hardly the most proficient; he has rowed 4 Bumps campaigns, winning blades in 2022 and just got back from rowing the qualifier race at Henley. He is also involved in organising high-school level debating conferences for CUUNA, and is a lively member of CULC, often participating in their meetings.
