Comic Bae

This week we read the entire Hellboy: The Wild Hunt arc (Darkness Calls, The Wild Hunt, and The Storm & The Fury) written by Mike Mignola and illustrated by Duncan Fegredo.  We discuss the bloated corpse of a movie that was Hellboy (2019) starring David Harbour, Arthurian legend, Russian folktales, the moral dilemma of supporting art made by shitty people, and more politics, because 2020.  

We're back, y'all! The podcast episode this week is 90% nonsense but 10% of it is *actually* about the comic. This week we're discussing Y: The last Man by Brian K Vaughan and Pia Guerra. We discuss POLITICS IN 2020, the last man narrative, Shakespeare things, and a bunch of other stuff that may or may not be relevant to the actual comic.

This week we read Invincible by Robert Kirkman and Cory Walker. We discuss superhero family tropes, the founding of Image comics, and the secret sauce needed to create good superhero comics.

We’re back! This week we read Thor: Mighty Avenger, by Roger Langridge and Chris Samnee. We debate the existence of Sasquatch, envision Jesus on the Avengers, and wonder who wore it best: Netflix’s A Knight Before Christmas, Kate & Leopold, or Thor. We give a brief overview of Disney from it's humble beginnings to it's terrible reign. We also reopen the cold case of Mickey's missing nephew and Hannah reveals a formative first love.

This week Hannah and Justin fight their way back from the brink of DEATH to read Daredevil Born Again, by Frank Miller and David Mazzuchelli. We also discuss our Landlord’s strength, Charlie Cox’s wetboy status, the fact that Black Widow never gets her due, how Daredevil is the data entry guy of the Marvel Universe and if David Harbour is the comic book movie kiss of death!

This week we take a trip BACK TO THE USSR as we read Superman Red Son by Mark Millar. We discuss the the Superman origin story, Justin attempts a vaguely Russian accent, we debate how much do you separate the art from the artist, and Hannah finally gets to talk about how much she loves Russian history.

This week we read Bone by Jeff Smith! We discuss interspecies romance, debate whether or not Casper the ghost actually has feet, generally disagree about what makes a good comic, and we have a lot to say about poser bars in Northern California.

This week we read Godzilla: Half Century War by James Stokoe with colors by Heather Breckel. We discuss Godzilla's place in pop culture (is Godzilla actually responsible for Space Jam?), King Kong vs the King of the Monsters, and we also bring you an hour of Godzilla impressions that no one asked for.

This week we're reading Usagi Yojimbo Volume 12- GRASSCUTTER written and drawn by Stan Sakai. We get into his use of anthropomorphic animals, the EXTENSIVE amount of sub-plots in this book, and which Usagi volume is actually the best for new comic readers.

This week we're hopping on the Joker bandwagon and reading The Killing Joke written by Alan Moore and illustrated by Brian Bolland. We get into some dark shit as we discuss the Joker mythos, Commissioner Gordon's bare ass, Batman's subpar detective skills, and we also learn that Justin has no idea what a bat looks like.
