#11 - What Will Your Legacy Be?

Assalaamualaikum & Greetings!Welcome to Cool Mum Super Dad, your companion on this rollercoaster ride called parenthood. I'm your host, Jamilah Samian, a parenting author and speaker. It’s easy to think that a legacy is all about grand achievements, monumental successes, or accumulating material wealth, but there’s so much more to it than that. At its heart, as a parent, a legacy is about the love you share, the values you uphold, and the positive impact you make on the lives of your children. In this episode, I discuss several legacies parents leave behind, and how you can consciously choose the impact of each of them on your children:1) Physical Legacy A contemporary issue is the impact of social media on children and youths, in particular, their body image. 2) Emotional LegacyYour emotional legacy is all about the impact your words and actions have on your child’s emotional well-being. 3) Cultural LegacyEverything that shapes our minds and manners, influencing how we see the world and interact with it. This isn't just about the obvious stuff like what we wear, the foods we love, or the language we speak—though that's definitely part of it.4) Social LegacyHow you interact with other human beings is closely observed by your children; kids are always watching us, even when we think they’re not. I also discuss how parents influence children's minds, and the legacy of parents' self-talk in their children.    As parents, at times we do not realize the extent towards which  we influence our own children. Our words and actions do not cease to exist with our own passing. Every single act, every word that we utter in their presence is engraved in their souls.  They carry these into adulthood and, in turn, transmit them to their children, who will then teach them to their children, consciously or otherwise. The legacy that we leave behind endures long after we have passed on.             Whatever good is in this work is from Allah; any shortcomings are mine alone.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  MORE RESOURCES:Hop over to my website, www.coolmumsuperdad.comBOOK ORDERS:To order my books, click the link: Cool Mum Super Dad Book Order.  Please note that your shipping address must be in Malaysia only.  If your shipping address is not in Malaysia, please write to [email protected] to make alternative delivery arrangements.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~REFERENCES1)  "Leadership In Parenting: Real Stories, Examples And Practical Strategies To Enable You To Lead Your Child Better". Children in happy, stable marriages feel more secure, perform better in school and have less disciplinary issues. #4 - Strong Marriage, Better Parents (III): Get Better At Resolving Conflict

Assalaamualaikum & Greetings!Welcome to Cool Mum Super Dad, your companion on this rollercoaster ride called parenthood. I'm your host, Jamilah Samian, a parenting author and speaker.Your marriage shapes your parenting experience. Children in happy, stable marriages feel more secure, perform better in school and have less disciplinary issues. This is reason enough for us parents to pay attention to the state and quality of our marriage. Misunderstandings happen in the best of marriages. In this episode, I explain:- why conflict occurs- a 3-step strategy to think well of your spouse- how to confront limiting beliefs- emotional closure- how to get out of an argument- proactive step to sustain a marriageYou will gain valuable ideas on how you can get better at resolving conflict, especially by changing how you respond to disagreements. Getting into an argument is easy. Getting out of one takes humility. Think of what you can possibly say and do to create deeper understanding and respect between you and your spouse. Choose to be kind by not giving in to impulsiveness and the desire to win an argument just for the sake of winning. In an argument that has gone out of hand, nobody wins, even if it seems at the time that one side has the upper hand.Whatever good is in this work is from Allah; any shortcomings are mine alone. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~MORE RESOURCES:Hop over to my website, www.coolmumsuperdad.comBOOK ORDERS:To order my books, click the link: Cool Mum Super Dad Book Order.  Please note that your shipping address must be in Malaysia only.  If your shipping address is not in Malaysia, please write to [email protected] to make alternative delivery arrangements.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~REFERENCES1) “Does a Long-Term Relationship Kill Romantic Love?” by  Bianca P. #3 - Strong Marriage, Better Parents (II): Stages Of Marriage, Distancing & EBA

In this episode, I explained the 5 Stages Of Marriage:       Stage 1: The Honeymoon Stage                  Stage 2: Discovery                     Stage 3: Adjustment                       Stage 4: Acceptance                         Stage 5:  Everlasting Love                 I also covered the subject of DISTANCING, which are like dangerous potholes in your marriage.  Distancing is a period when either spouse or both man and wife feel they are drifting apart.  You can deal with Distancing  by having a SHARED VISION and applying the concept of the Emotional Bank Account or EBA for short.  A SHARED VISION is a deal maker, a dream maker.  Shared visions make good things happen in a marriage. Your shared visions may cover 5 main areas: Faith (spirituality); Fitness (Health); Family; Finance; and Fulfilment.   The EMOTIONAL BANK ACCOUNT or EBA is a simple but powerful concept that you can apply straight away, to also pull you and your spouse together.   Whatever good is in this work is from Allah; any shortcomings are mine alone.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~MORE RESOURCES:Hop over to my website, www.coolmumsuperdad.comBOOK ORDERS:To order my books, click the link: Cool Mum Super Dad Book Order.  Please note that your shipping address must be in Malaysia only.  If your shipping address is not in Malaysia, please write to [email protected] to make alternative delivery arrangements. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~REFERENCES1) “Does a Long-Term Relationship Kill Romantic Love?” by  Bianca P.
