Zenon: The Zequel & Other Sequels

The Ultimate Christmas Present & Santa Traditions
The Disney Channel closed out the year with a middling movie about weather and Santa. We were underwhelmed by the movie but very impressed with Ceri's plot guess. Find us on Twitter: Nicole: www.twitter.com/sweeneysays Matt: www.twitter.com/matthewgaydos Marines: www.twitter.com/mynameismarines...
-
Phantom of the Megaplex & Movie Memories (& a spreadsheet)
This movie has glimmers of Ceri's Scooby Doo dreams, but did it live up to the story she predicted for us? It did give us a chance to get real meta about our Disney Channel Original Movie rankings & get nostalgic about when we could go to movie theaters. (Remember movie theaters???) Find us on...

Mom's Got a Date with a Vampire & Other Vampires
We watched Mom's Got a Date with a Vampire and the most important revelation was HOW CLOSE CERI'S GUESS WAS. Bailey's Kids books for the win. Find us on Twitter: Nicole: www.twitter.com/sweeneysays Matt: www.twitter.com/matthewgaydos Marines: www.twitter.com/mynameismarines Ceri:...
-
The Other Me & Staying At Home (yes, really)
Back in October we watched another DCOM and it turned out to be a Lawrence brother movie – and remarkably close to Ceri's guess from the previous episode. (I know that was 392 days of March ago, but trust me.) What none of us anticipated: our protagonist spends about a third of the movie forced…

Quints & Personal Art Histories
Quints is a movie in which a family has five babies and that's pretty much the whole plot. In this episode we decide whether we liked it anyway, discussed metro riding biker gangs, lamented the neglect of poor Brad, and tried to figure out where this movie even takes place. Find us on Twitter:...

Ready to Run & Family Traditions
Hello! It has been a while! We recorded this episode back in mid-May and never uploaded it due initially to not wanting to take up space during the initial wave of protests for Black lives and against police violence and then kept delaying it because life. But here it is! This moment of joy we…

Stepsister From Planet Weird & DCOM Tropes
This movie features a grab bag of DCOM tropes, from enemies-to-friends to parents-not-believing-the-main-character, alongside another bizarre sport and some aliens. Miracle In Lane 2 & Sibling Rivalries
This movie wasn't *quite* what Ceri guessed, but to her credit, she was a little closer than usual. This week we're talking about what Miracle in Lane 2 was actually about, whether or not it made us cry, and some of our other favorite sibling rivalries. Find us on Twitter: Nicole:...
-
Rip Girls & Family Histories
In this episode we talked about a fun surfing movie, figured out how we knew who Camilla Belle is, learned some more about Team Earth's thorough commitment to being petty, and shared some stories about our parents and grandparents. Find us on Twitter: Nicole: www.twitter.com/sweeneysays Matt:...
-
Alley Cats Strike & Weird Hobbies
Sadly this movie was not about a rival gang of dumpster diving teens, but instead is about some kids who love to bowl and a cross-town rivalry. This week we're talking all about Alley Cats Strike, and our own unique hobbies. Find us on Twitter: Nicole: www.twitter.com/sweeneysays Matt:...

The Color of Friendship & Media That Taught Us Something
In a fortunate coincidence, we are uploading this week's episode the same week as its film's 20th anniversary! The Color of Friendship is inspired by a true story and is the first DCOM to win an Emmy. Find out whether the film holds up and whether it gave us all the feelings. Find us on Twitter:...
-
Up, Up, and Away! & Superheroes
True to Ceri's second guess, Up, Up, and Away! is indeed a movie about a boy with a superhero family learning how to save the day as a regular boy. This week we're talking about this charming family of superheroes and some of our other favorite superhero stories as well. Find us on Twitter…

Horse Sense & MONTANA!
It's the final DCOM of the 90s, our final episode of 2019, AND the first DCOM with the Lawrence Brothers. This week we chat about Horse Sense, which takes place in Montana, where 3/4 of us happen to live, so we decided to take this opportunity to end the year by talking about our first…

Don't Look Under The Bed & Tropes We Hate
Only 1/4 of us remembers this film about imaginary friends and bogeymen, but we had a lot of feelings about the experience as an adult. This movie about adults not believing our child heroine also prompted us to talk about some tropes we try to avoid. Find us on Twitter: Nicole:...
-
Genius & Double Lives
As the tagline promises, this is a movie in which Genius Charlie Boyle has to "add another side to himself" to fit in. We had high hopes of that being some science magic, but it's really just about adding a part of you where you're really disruptive and a liar! We had a lot of feelings about…

Johnny Tsunami & Runaway Stories
Johnny Tsunami is sadly not the wild Moana-meets-Frozen journey that Ceri took us on last time, but this movie about a surfer boy from Hawaii forced to move to snowy Vermont DID turn out to be somebody's favorite DCOM. Find out whose favorite movie this is, as well as some of our other favorite...
-
Smart House & Fantasy Movie Tech
After Ceri's incredible highs-and-lows guess last time, we watched Smart House and marveled both at the oddly specific things she identified and also at how much fun this movie is, 20 years later. We also talk about all the other cool things we've seen in media that we wish we could have in our...
-
The Thirteenth Year & Memorable Birthdays
This week's episode is about a very magical puberty in which a boy discovers that is a mermaid. Find out how we rated this against the other 6 movies we've now discussed and also some of our own most memorable birthday experiences. Find us on Twitter: Nicole: www.twitter.com/sweeneysays Matt:...

Can Of Worms & Kids Saving The World
This week we are finding out just what movie matched the horrifying poster we all saw last time. Mike Pillsbury is an odd kid who is forced to play football even though he is very bad at it, so after a mortifying incident at the school dance he sends out an SOS call to the universe to be rescued...

Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century & Other Space Stories
This week's movie is Zenon, about a bubbly teenager on a space station forced to head down to Earth for causing trouble – until she's vindicated and has to make her way back up to save the station. This episode has some disagreement as the movie is beloved by some but not all of our hosts. Find…

Halloweentown & Favorite Halloween Media
We're getting into the Halloween spirit a little early with 1998's Halloweentown. Did we love this movie about a girl who discovers she's actually a witch or will every DCOM now leave us longing for Brink? Brink! & After School Activities
