Seven Churches: Pergamos, the Compromised Church
A faithful church can still be ruined from within. Pergamos held the line under persecution, even losing Antipas as a martyr, but Jesus rebuked them for tolerating false teaching in the pews. This lesson walks through Revelation 2v12-17 and what it takes to spot a counterfeit message before it spreads. Main text: Revelation 2v12-17 Outline: - You cannot spot counterfeit doctrine without knowing the real thing - Antipas: faithful to the end (Revelation 2v13) - The two errors at Pergamos: Balaam and the Nicolaitans - Be Bereans and rightly divide the word (Acts 17v11; 2 Timothy 2v15) - Repent quickly, then hear the promises to the overcomer (Revelation 2v16-17) The teacher pushes back on outsourcing your discernment to the preacher. Counterfeit money, counterfeit handbags, counterfeit doctrine all work the same way: you only spot a fake when you know the genuine article. He covers Matthew 7v15-16 on knowing false prophets by their fruit, Romans 16v17-18 on smooth words and flattering speech, and Joshua 7 on Achan to show why sin in the camp has to be dealt with swiftly. The lesson closes on the hidden manna, the white stone, and the new name as Christ's promises to those who actually listen and overcome. Originally Aired: 2026-04-29 3949 Lithia Pinecrest Rd. Kingdom Character
What does God actually look at when He looks at you? Working through the parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector, Chaz Austin defines kingdom character as the consistent condition of the heart that produces a consistent pattern of life, then turns the parable into a mirror for honest self-examination. Main text: Luke 18v9-14 Outline: - Defining kingdom character: the heart God sees, not the reputation people see - Humility, not self-exalting (Luke 18v13a) - Brokenness over sin, not self-boasting (Luke 18v13b) - Dependence on God, not self-relying (Luke 18v13c) - The verdict: only one man goes home justified (Luke 18v14) Two men walk into the temple to pray. One stands tall and reports that he doesn't need mercy. The other stands afar off, beats his breast, and cries seven small words: "Lord, be merciful to me a sinner." Jesus says only one of them goes home right with God. This lesson presses the question of pride, repentance, and self-reliance, and lands on Jesus as the only ground of righteousness for anyone humble and broken enough to ask for mercy. Kingdom Culture
When the gospel actually goes to work in a church, it leaves fingerprints. Acts 2v36-47 shows the first congregation wearing six of them, and this lesson walks through each one as a portrait of what a kingdom community is supposed to feel like, sound like, and cost. Main text: Acts 2v36-47 Outline: - Kingdom culture lives out a common response (Acts 2v36-37) - Kingdom culture lives out a costly repentance (Acts 2v38, 41) - Kingdom culture lives out a continued resolve (Acts 2v42) - Kingdom culture lives out a captivated reverence (Acts 2v43) - Kingdom culture lives out a communal relief (Acts 2v44-45) - Kingdom culture lives out a contagious rejoicing (Acts 2v46-47) Being cut to the heart is not a one-time experience tied to baptism, and repentance does not stop there either. The lesson pushes hard on ongoing repentance, reverence in worship that is not casual or distracted, and a generosity that treats what we own as ours together when a brother or sister is in need. It also presses the point that the culture of a local church is not built by the preacher or the elders but by every individual who walks through the door. If you are looking for a sermon on Acts 2, the early church, authentic community, repentance, reverence, generosity, and what church is supposed to look like, start here. Ambassadors for Christ: The Honduras Calling
A Creekside elder traces 35 years of mission work back to one humbling moment in a Honduras orphanage, then turns to Paul to argue that every baptized believer has been appointed an ambassador for Christ. Whether you go, pray, or give, the calling is the same. Main text: 2 Corinthians 5v20 Outline: - A personal calling that started in high school and got redirected by a 1990 trip to Honduras - A padlocked metal box of toothbrushes at Casa Kennedy that shook the speaker to the core - The biblical case for ambassadorship from 2 Corinthians 5v20 and the Great Commission - Creekside's 15-year partnership with Torch Missions in Tegucigalpa - Five ministry areas on the trip and a direct ask: go, pray, or give Paul's claim that "we are ambassadors for Christ" is not poetry. An ambassador is chosen, sent, and assigned to represent the one who sent him, and Matthew 28v18-20, Mark 16v15, and Luke 24v46-47 all say the assignment runs to every nation. The lesson grounds that calling in real places and real numbers: 10 million people in Honduras, a 66 percent poverty rate, and 15 years of Creekside teams working evangelism, medical clinics, concrete-block houses, benevolence, and visitation alongside Torch Missions. Matthew 25v35-40 frames the work and Acts 20v35 shapes this year's trip theme. The closing question is plain: are you ready to go, to pray, or to give? The Idol of Fear
For a hundred years Christians have taken turns naming the Antichrist and the mark of the beast. Every new headline becomes a candidate, and somewhere in the noise, fear quietly takes the throne that belongs to God. Main text: Matthew 10v28 Outline: - The idol of fear: when we fear the world more than the Lord, we have already chosen a god (Matthew 10v28; 1 John 4v18; Proverbs 9v10) - The fruits of fear: paranoia replaces peace, love grows cold, and people-pleasing snares the heart (Philippians 4v6-7; Matthew 24v42-44; Proverbs 29v25) - The death of fear: God laughs at raging kings, and the sealed child of God lives in power, love, and self-control (Psalm 2v1-4; Ephesians 4v30; 2 Timothy 1v7) This lesson walks through the long parade of figures and symbols that have been called the Antichrist or the mark of the beast, and asks a harder question: what does the chase reveal about where our trust actually lives? Hours spent hunting shadows and minutes spent in Scripture tell on us. The believer is not called to scan the news for a thief; we are called to keep the house ready for the Master and to fear the Lord alone. Because we are sealed by the blood of Christ and the resurrection has already settled the outcome, fear is not just unhelpful, it is irrational. The game is won. We can live free. Seven Churches: Smyrna, the Persecuted Church
Smyrna was the only one of the seven churches Jesus did not rebuke. They had lost jobs, customers, even their homes for refusing to bow to the trade-guild gods, and Jesus answers their poverty with a stunning line: "but you are rich." Main text: Revelation 2v8-11 Outline: - Recap of Ephesus, the loveless church - Smyrna's setting: an industrial city where faith cost you your job - Jesus knows their works and their poverty - Where our true riches actually are - Persecution is about to intensify - Fear God, not man - The crown of life for those who endure - He who has an ear, let him hear A short walk through the letter to Smyrna with practical reflections on persecution, suffering, financial pressure, and the inheritance kept for the faithful. The lesson ties Revelation 2v9 to John 14 and Revelation 21, then turns to the warning of Revelation 2v10 with help from Job 1v7, 1 Peter 5v8, and Matthew 10v28. It closes on James 1v12 and the call to listen, not just hear, what the Spirit is saying. Stories along the way include a Lipscomb pitcher whose death sparked a campus revival and the speaker's own cancer survival at Moffitt and unexpected reunion with his oncologist years later. God Helps With Temptation
Temptation hits every disciple, as it hit Jesus. In this lesson from Matthew 4:1-11 and 1 Corinthians 10:13, we walk through what temptation is and what it is not, why spiritual people still face real pressure, and how God provides a way of escape without removing our responsibility to choose obedience. You’ll see how Jesus answered Satan with Scripture, why isolation can magnify vulnerability, and practical steps for resisting sin through prayer, watchfulness, and faith-filled action. This message is for anyone battling discouragement, recurring temptations, or the false idea that willpower alone is enough. Self-Denial in an Age of Self-Fulfillment
In Luke 9:18-26 Jesus answers the biggest discipleship question: what does it really mean to follow Him. To practicing "the Way". This sermon walks through self-denial in a culture trained for self-fulfillment. We look at Jesus’ own path of suffering and rejection, then His call to deny ourselves, take up the cross daily, and follow. You will hear practical clarity on surrendering autonomy and control, resisting consumer-driven spirituality, and walking in step with the Spirit. Along the way we connect the cost of discipleship to the rich young ruler, Peter’s failure and restoration, and the moment many walked away when Jesus’ teaching felt too hard. The goal is not guilt or self-hatred, but reordered desire where Jesus is valued above comfort, gain, and applause, producing the fruit of the Spirit with real self-control. Raised Because Of Our Justification
This morning we focus on Romans 4:25 and the gospel claim that Jesus was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification. The resurrection is not only a past miracle, it is God’s confirmation of the cross, Christ’s vindication, and the foundation for Christian assurance. We walk through why the early church preached the empty tomb, the fulfilled predictions, and the eyewitness encounters, then connect Paul’s teaching to what believers receive in Christ: forgiveness of sins, reconciliation with God, adoption as God’s children, a living High Priest who intercedes, and the promise of our own resurrection. If you already believe Jesus rose, this message is meant to steady your heart, strengthen your hope, and help you say with confidence, “Because He lives, I can face my own last day with faith.” Scriptures include Romans 4:25, 1 Corinthians 15, John 20, John 11:25, and Romans 8. God Has a Name #5
In Exodus 33-34, God doesn’t just give Moses information, He proclaims His own name and shows what He is like: merciful, gracious, patient, overflowing in steadfast love and truth, yet perfectly just. In this sermon, we walk through the moment God reveals His covenant name and see the three responses it produces in real life: worship Him, want Him, and watch Him at work through obedient faith. Along the way, we address common misunderstandings about God’s name, why His glory leads to reverence, and how our daily choices can either honor or profane what we claim to believe. If you’ve ever wondered what it means to “know the name of the Lord,” this lesson connects Exodus to the life of Christ and calls us to live in a way that matches the God we praise. Forgiveness Is Returning from a F. A. R. Country
In Luke 15, the prodigal son goes to a far country, but the bigger journey is the one back home. This sermon frames forgiveness as returning from a F.A.R. country: Forgiveness, Accountability, and Reconciliation. We’ll walk through what it means to release vengeance without pretending the offense didn’t matter, how Jesus teaches us to address sin with truth and love, and when reconciliation is possible after repentance. Along the way we connect the parable of the prodigal son with Matthew 18, Luke 17, Ephesians 4:32, and the cross of Christ, where God removes sin farther than east from west. If you’ve been stuck in resentment, afraid of being hurt again, or unsure how to forgive without enabling, this lesson gives clear biblical steps for grace with boundaries and peace with integrity.

God Has a Name #3
In Exodus 33:12-17, Moses learns that God doesn’t only give commands, He gives His name. In this lesson from “God Has a Name,” we walk through what it means that YHWH knows His servants by name, offers grace, invites intercession for others, promises His presence, and forms a distinct people. We connect Moses’ plea for God’s presence with the rest God gives, the identity God shapes, and the way Jesus reveals the Father’s heart. If you’ve ever felt unseen, unsure, or spiritually distant, this message points to the God who calls His people by name and stays with them. Sunday Evening Q&A #13
In this lesson for struggling Christians, we tackle three honest questions that many believers are afraid to ask out loud. How do you know if you’re ready for baptism when you still wrestle with sin. How do you pray when doubt whispers, “Maybe God won’t answer.” And why Scripture says we should fear God instead of simply respect Him. Using passages like Acts 2:38, Romans 6, 1 Peter 3:21, Matthew 6, and Proverbs, we talk about baptism as a beginning, prayer as trust in God’s character, and the fear of the Lord as reverent awe that produces freedom and obedience. If you feel stuck, ashamed, or spiritually tangled, this message aims to give clear next steps, steady hope, and a Christ-centered view of what faithful growth looks like.

God Has A Name #1
In Exodus 3:1-15, Moses is doing ordinary work when God meets him at the burning bush. What happens next teaches us something we all need. God is not a distant idea or an impersonal force. He speaks, He calls, and He reveals His name. In this lesson we walk through the names God gives in this passage and what they show about His character. We look at “I AM,” “I AM WHO I AM,” and the covenant name the Lord gives to His people, YHWH. We also connect this moment to the bigger story of Scripture, including how Jesus uses language that points back to the God who spoke to Moses. If you have ever wanted to know God more personally, not just facts about Him, this sermon is a starting point. The goal is simple: to honor His name, trust His presence, and let His word shape how we live and pray. Originally Aired: Mar 1st, 2026 Sunday morning Lesson 3949 Lithia Pinecrest Rd. Sunday Evening Q&A #4
What if your limits are not failures but invitations from God to lean into grace; starting with 1 Peter 3:15, this session wrestles with three tender questions and lets Scripture do the heavy lifting as we probe whether human limitation is part of God’s design through Romans 8:18-23, 9:21-23, and 11:32, trace a pathway for honest mourning by watching how God Himself responds to sorrow in Genesis 6:6, Psalm 78:40, Isaiah 63:10, Mark 3:5, and Ephesians 4:30, and open the Bible’s protection texts around unsafe marriages with a careful look at Leviticus 19:16, Deuteronomy 22:1-2, Exodus 21:10-11, and Matthew 5:17-20. Stay to the end if you need courage for grief, wisdom for limits, or a gracious plan for safety.

The Kingdom of Heaven
The Kingdom of Heaven isn’t small. From Daniel’s stone that shatters empires to Jesus’ mustard seed that overtakes the garden, this message explores how God’s reign arrives in power, grows quietly, reshapes our ethics, and heals our wounds. We open Matthew 5 and 13, walk through Jesus’ call to repent and be born of water and Spirit, and trace the story from prophecy to Pentecost to the church’s mission among the nations. Along the way we meet a widow’s raised son, a humble child, a Roman centurion with great faith, and a survivor who chose to forgive. Church can feel complicated, but Scripture shows something simpler: a family to belong to, a people who gather, a community that holds up truth and holds it fast. The Fruit of the Vine
In John 15:1–11 Jesus calls Himself the true Vine, the Father the vinedresser, and us the branches. Walk through the vineyard logic of abiding, pruning, and bearing, showing how real fruit grows in four lanes: character (Galatians 5:22–23), conduct (John 15:10; Matthew 5:16), confession of praise (Hebrews 13:15), and making disciples (Romans 1:13; Matthew 28:19–20). We clear up common confusions about “fruit,” explain how the Father’s pruning produces peaceable righteousness (Hebrews 12:11), and offer simple practices to keep Jesus’ words abiding in us. Includes memorable illustrations, Old Testament background on Israel as the vineyard (Psalm 80; Isaiah 5; Ezekiel 15), and a word on how the Lord’s Supper proclaims Christ until He comes (1 Corinthians 11:23–26). If you’ve ever felt like a withered branch, take heart. Abide in Christ and watch the vineyard flourish. Originally Aired: Nov 2nd, 2025 Sunday morning Lesson 3949 Lithia Pinecrest Rd. Africa Mission Trip Report on Jesus’ Power
Three weeks in South Africa reminded us that Jesus still speaks with authority, cleanses the broken, and cares for the hurting as we share how SABC equips faithful teachers, how a gentle restoration unfolded in Kempton, and how family mercies echoed the widow at Nain; we also note Solomon Linda’s Mbube story and a glimpse of Kruger’s Big Five, all to lift up the One who draws all people to Himself. Scriptures: Luke 4:31-37; Luke 5:12-15; Luke 7:11-17; John 12:21, 32; Galatians 6:1; Proverbs 15:30; Matthew 18:14; 2 Peter 2:9-12.

The Light of the World
A single candle can fill a room, and Jesus says He does the same for the world. In the glow of the Feast of Tabernacles, with water poured on the rock and giant lamps blazing in the Temple courts, He declares I AM the light of the world. This message unpacks why His words I AM, THE LIGHT, and THE WORLD reveal His divinity, authority, and global rescue, then invites us to walk in His light and reflect it through everyday obedience and mercy. Scriptures include John 7–8, John 3:16–21, Psalm 119:105, Matthew 5:14–16, and 2 Corinthians 4:4–6. Open your Bible and step into the light. The Temple of the Spirit
What does it really mean that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit? In this message we keep it simple and practical from 1 Corinthians 6:14–20. God lives in you, so live from the inside out: - Christ’s Body: united with Jesus (John 2:19–22, 1 Cor 12:27) - Christ’s Building: build on what lasts (1 Cor 3:9–17) - Christ’s Blending: the Spirit makes us one family (Eph 2:11–22) Originally Aired: Oct 19th, 2025 Sunday morning Lesson 3949 Lithia Pinecrest Rd. Deconstructing Faith
What happens when you take your faith apart to see what is true and what is just tradition? This message walks through Matthew 23:1-39 and names four common drivers of deconstruction today: participant overwhelming, prideful orthodoxy, perverse obstinacy, and political obeisance. Along the way we talk about burnout in ministry, misplaced loyalty to leaders, the pain of institutional failure, and the pull of partisanship that crowds out simple discipleship. Most of all, we point to Jesus who confronts hypocrisy and still longs to gather us under his wings. You will hear a vivid camel illustration, real trends many are facing, and straight talk on why tearing down without rebuilding leaves people bitter instead of Christlike. The aim is not to shame questions but to model how to rebuild with humility, Scripture, and the heart of Jesus. Key texts: Matthew 23, Galatians 6:9, Acts 17:11, John 11:48, Matthew 24:1-2, Luke 21:20-24, 1 Samuel 15:23, Ezekiel 14:4, Colossians 3:5. What this sermon covers: • Why high performers in church life often reach a breaking point • How pride around our tribe can choke unity and curiosity • When institutions fail and trust collapses • How political identity can eclipse kingdom identity • A hopeful path from deconstruction to reconstruction in Christ If you are wrestling with doubt, church hurt, or confusion, you are not alone. Bring your questions. Let Jesus lead the reconstruction.

The Last Sermon I Would Ever Preach
If This Were the Last Sermon I Would Ever Preach: I Would One Last Time Preach Jesus. From Acts 8:35, we trace the sweeping story of Christ-Prophesied in Isaiah 53, Proclaimed to the crowds, Identified as the Son of God, Ostracized by men, Crucified for our sins, Risen on the third day, and Glorified at the right hand of God. Along the way we hear an excerpt from “That’s My King,” reflect on living water that truly satisfies (John 4:14), and respond to the gospel with the humility of Acts 2:37-41. Key texts: Acts 8:35; 2 Cor. 3:18; Matthew 4:25; Matthew 7:28; Matthew 16:16; John 8:48; John 10:33; 1 Cor 1:23; 1 Cor. 2:2; Acts 2:32; 1 Cor. 15:1-4; Acts 2:36; 1 Tim 3:16; Gal 3:1.

Shepherding: Chasing the Title or the Towel
On Ordination Sunday we slow down and look at the kind of leadership Jesus calls great. In John 13 the Lord takes a towel and shows elders and churches what real greatness looks like. This message walks through three “towels” for everyday ministry: the towel of smallness from John 3:30, the towel of spikenard from John 12:3, and the towel of service from John 13:14. We also hear Paul’s warning to shepherds in Acts 20, Ezekiel’s rebuke of failed shepherds, and Peter’s call to humble oversight in 1 Peter 5. It is practical, church focused, and ready for leadership training or elder appointments. Scriptures: John 13:1-15; John 3:30; John 12:1-8; Acts 20:28-31; Ezekiel 34:1-10; 1 Peter 5:1-4; Mark 10:42-45; Philippians 2:5-8; 1 Thessalonians 5:12-14; Hebrews 13:17-18.

Lord Show Us the Father: Faith Over Sight
When life shouts through pain, Paul teaches us how to look past what is seen and fix our gaze on what is eternal. This message traces three contrasts: Internals, Incomparables, and Eternals, to show how God renews the inner person, outweighs present suffering with a true weight of glory, and anchors us beyond the tent of this body. Along the way we connect John 14 to the face of Christ, explore the Spirit’s guarantee, and swap fear for courage as we walk by faith, not by sight. If you need fresh courage in grief, uncertainty, or weakness, this sermon will help you see the Father by looking at Jesus.

Freedom
Freedom is more than a right on paper. Looking at David and Goliath (1 Samuel 17), we talk about the freedom Jesus gives: freedom from fear, freedom in obeying God together as a church, freedom from sin by grace, and freedom from death so we can serve with courage.
