Campus Crimes: Death in the Ivory Tower
On February 12, 2010, biology professor Amy Bishop opened fire on her colleagues at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, killing three and wounding three more after being denied tenure. Cults and Cons: Anna Delvey, The Heiress Who Never Was
Between 2013 and 2017, Anna Sorokin — a Russian-born, German-raised young woman with a sharp eye for luxury and a sharper tongue for anyone who doubted her — convinced New York's elite that she was Anna Delvey, heiress to a vast European fortune. She stayed in five-star hotels, flew on private jets, defrauded banks out of hundreds of thousands of dollars, and nearly secured a $22 million loan to fund her own private arts club. She was caught, convicted, detained, and still, somehow, kept talking. In today's first Cults and Cons episode, Sabrina Deana-Roga and Corinne Vien trace the con, the character, and the city that was almost too flattered by her attention to notice it was being robbed. And for more cases just like this one, be sure to check out the Crime House Original, Crimes of Reddit. If you’re new here, don’t forget to follow Crime House 24/7 to never miss a case! Justice Served: Sam Cooke Pt. 1
Today's first episode of Justice Served covers the first of two parts on the murder of Sam Cooke, who in 1964 was one of the biggest stars in America, a pioneering soul singer whose voice and business instincts were reshaping the music industry. Behind the success, Cooke was navigating growing personal pressures and a shifting cultural landscape as the civil rights movement gained momentum. Carter Roy traces Cooke’s rise from gospel prodigy to crossover icon, his fight for ownership and control in a segregated industry, and the tensions that defined his life offstage. As his influence grew, so did his willingness to challenge the status quo, culminating in a pivotal decision to walk away from a performance rather than play to a segregated audience, a moment that marked a turning point in the final chapter of his life. And for more cases just like this one, be sure to check out the Crime House Original, Murder: True Crime Stories. If you’re new here, don’t forget to follow Crime House 24/7 to never miss a case! Conspiracies & the Unknown: Area 51
In today's first Conspiracies & the Unknown episode, Vanessa Richardson investigates Area 51, the secretive military base in the Nevada desert that has become ground zero for UFO sightings, alien rumors, and government cover-up claims. Originally established during the Cold War to test experimental aircraft, the facility’s extreme secrecy helped spark decades of speculation about what might be hidden behind its guarded perimeter. From reported sightings in the skies above Nevada to whistleblower stories of reverse engineered spacecraft, Area 51 has evolved into a cultural phenomenon. Declassified documents confirm the development of top secret spy planes, yet for many, official explanations have never fully quieted suspicion. Conspiracies & the Unknown: The Mothman
In the 1960s, residents of Point Pleasant, West Virginia reported sightings of a strange, winged figure with glowing red eyes, a creature that would become known as the Mothman. As encounters spread, so did fear, with witnesses describing eerie experiences and unexplained phenomena surrounding the sightings. In today's first episode, Vanessa Richardson examines the origins of the Mothman legend, the wave of reports that gripped the town, and the theories that attempt to explain what people believed they saw. After the tragic collapse of the Silver Bridge in 1967, some began to believe the sightings were connected, transforming the Mothman into a symbol of omen and prophecy. CONSPIRACY THEORY: The Happiest Place You Can't Leave: The Disney Machine
This afternoon, Vanessa is bringing you an episode from another one of her shows: Conspiracy Theories, Cults, and Crimes. In this episode: "The Disney Machine." Isaac Apodaca Convicted in 'Secret Society' Sword Killing of Grace Jennings | True Crime News
On an October night in 2022, 21-year-old Grace Jennings was killed with a sword inside a Santa Fe garage. The woman who wielded the blade — Kiara McCulley — has already pleaded guilty. But her boyfriend, Isaac Apodaca, never touched it. Prosecutors argued he didn't need to: he'd convinced 19-year-old Kiara they were part of a secret society that hunted down "bad people," and that killing Grace was how she'd earn her place. Last week, a Santa Fe jury agreed, convicting Apodaca of first-degree murder. He now faces a mandatory life sentence. If you’re new here, don’t forget to follow Crime House 24/7 to never miss a case!
