On April 27, 2024, 30-year-old Mica Francis Miller was found dead at Lumber River State Park in Robeson County, North Carolina. Two days earlier, she had served her husband, Myrtle Beach pastor John Paul Miller of Solid Rock at Market Common, with divorce papers. The medical examiner ruled her death a suicide. Her family has never disputed that ruling. What they have disputed, from the day she died, is what was done to her in the 528 days before she walked into that park. Lonene was a profoundly deaf woman from northwestern Pennsylvania who refused to let her disability define her. On the night of April 17th in 1990, Deborah Waggoner had what seemed like an ordinary plan. Around 7 PM, she left her South Greensburg home in her faded green 1976 Chevrolet Malibu. She told her boyfriend, Charles Stader, that she was headed to the nearby coin-operated Carbon Car Wash to clean her car. It was close by, so Charles didn’t expect her to be gone for more than an hour. Before she left, he’d asked her to grab a pack of cigarettes on her way home, and she agreed. On May 8, 2025, a teenage girl arrived at a Wawa convenience store in Gloucester Township, New Jersey.  Her shaved head and scarred-up wrists clearly told a story that something was wrong. She wasn’t there to grab a snack or fill up a gas tank—her neighbor had driven her there to meet authorities. She was in desperation to escape a nightmare that, according to investigators, had lasted nearly seven long years.
