Album Preview: FLOATING IN SPACE "Dreamland"

Watch the Album Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_1OqM6Ervc For the band's second release, FLOATING IN SPACE set out to create an album that gives wings to every butterfly in your stomach. And from the opening note of the sophomore effort Dreamland to the very last tone of the spectacular closing track Earth (single available now on Spotify), each song is filled with so many astoundingly gorgeous frames of optimistic grace that your heart is fit to burst. In 2016, we were introduced to just a small portion of what songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Ruben Caballero was capable of. If his band's debut The Edge of the Light was to showcase the potential of the project, Dreamland is the stunning realization of that potential. Expanding far beyond the band's earlier piano-driven motif to focus on organic melody, every song on Dreamland is brilliantly structured and realized...each an impressive soundscape worthy of the act's name. A truly timeless, uplifting and enlightening album, each note on Dreamland has a purpose. Each choir-like vocal cadence is well measured. You will hear love and inspiration in each flourish of the guitar and each syncopated beat of the drum. Sweeping across every conceivable emotion with cinematic showmanship, Floating In Space pierces the psyche in a way reserved only for the upper echelons of post-rock. There is no doubt that Dreamland will be respected as one of the most lavishly beautiful releases of the year and the album trailer is an absolute must-see. Seriously, like whoa. (DER-581)

Album Preview: LIGHTS & MOTION "Bloom"

Watch the Album Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HnVICNP_kVE Coming out of hibernation with Bloom set on the promise of Spring, cinematic post-rock visionary LIGHTS & MOTION truly transcends emotion. Consistently beautiful, gut-wrenching and full of melancholic hopefulness, Christoffer Franzen's unfailing creativity delivers yet again. He just gets it. "I feel really connected to the title track. I did something unusual for me in that I conceptualized a song before I had even written a note. I wanted to create a song that would sound like a flower in bloom, in that it is ever changing and evolving" says Franzen. We'll let the first review of this forthcoming release speak for itself (see below). Produced, recorded and mixed by Franzen at UpSweden Studio in Gothenburg. Mastered by Dave Cooley at Elysian Masters in Los Angeles (M83, Paramore, Serge Gainsbourg). Album artwork by Shane Labelle. Photography by Fredrik Sellergren. Absolutely stunning. (DER-580)

Album Preview: LIGHTS & MOTION "Dear Avalanche"

Watch the Album Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQfTpW0F0Dc The latest offering in a discography often described as the ultimate symmetry of music and emotion, Dear Avalanche is the most accomplished and fully realized expression of sounds to date from LIGHTS & MOTION. Although many claim he is a magician, the band's braintrust, Christoffer Franzen, is a storyteller...and a masterful one at that. From the majestic climax of This Explosion Within to the hopeful build of Silver Lining to the delicate innocence of Anomaly, every Lights & Motion track tells it's own story by transporting the listener through tenor and tone to a place where anything and everything is possible. This astonishing interplay of soul and sound is truly a work of art as it connects with the listener in a way that transcends the music itself. Franzen's ability to elicit emotion on a universal level and touch the heart without words, is simply beyond the limits of all imagination. With this expertly crafted collection of rich new soundscapes, Lights & Motion not only again delivers but also elevates the architecture of cinematic post-rock to awe-inspiring new heights.(DER-571)

Watch the Album Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nlmE2OyGbJk The stunning second album from Vancouver-based ambient post-rock outfit INWARD OCEANS floods the senses with magical moments of pure sonic ecstasy. Lush, organic and meticulously crafted headphone music contoured with intricate vocal countermelodies, "Weather The Storm" surprises you with each and every listen. Displaying a well-refined ability to elicit emotion, each track tells a mesmerizing story that unfolds in the listener's ears. Album Preview: KID YOU NOT "Never A Dull Movement"

"What do we have left? Seems everything's been done to death." Sung from the gut and straight from the heart, the powerful opening line from KID YOU NOT's full-length debut Never A Dull Movement fittingly questions the current state of the music business. And from that moment on, this Florida-based punk outfit answers back with an exhilarating, electrifying, full-on assault that will leave you wanting more. From the first moment of this record, you can feel its brilliance, purity and DIY spirit. Combining new school and old school influences (ranging from Iron Chic, Latterman and Red City Radio to 90's punk rock heroes Hot Water Music, Jawbreaker and Millencolin) with an exciting new sensibility, Never A Dull Movement never slows its fury of gruff vocals, melodic harmonies, pounding drums and infectious choruses. It's impossible to deny how engaging and downright fun this record is...the kind of record you turn up and sing along to with your fists in the air at the top of your lungs. An album about love, loss and the feeling of being lost (and not knowing exactly how you got there), it's also about moving on, accepting things you can't change and reflecting on the roads that got you there. One thing is for certain, ten blistering tracks just isn't enough. Striking hard with purpose, conviction and relevance, Never A Dull Movement is a massive step forward toward not only finding their sound, but also in living their lives to the fullest. If the strength of this record is any indication of what the future holds for Kid You Not, I can't wait to hear what comes next. Kid You Not may not save the world, or even punk rock, but fuckin' a...they saved me. (DER-576)

Album Preview: U137 "Adam Forever / The Great Leap"

Swedish post-rock duo U137 blew listeners away with it's 2013 debut Dreamer On The Run (the album currently has 40+ Million plays on Spotify alone) offering a unique combination of sounds glowing with fresh energy, diversity and originality. Despite the deceptive simplicity and immediate familiarity of the music, on closer inspection you will find that each U137 song is skillfully arranged with a soothing, soaring, sweeping complexity and self-disciplined intricacy that together form a blissful and recognizably human score to any relevant matter. With the aim of generating a feeling of pure euphoria in the listener, succeed they do...on every level. This is no doubt Scandinavian artistry at the highest level. Fans have eagerly awaited new music from U137 and that wait has ended with the forthcoming release of Adam Forever / The Great Leap. (DER-578) "When a soldier of The Arts has fallen...great tragedy and loss rule the day. But their presence, made eminent through their artistic manifestations, will remain in our hearts and in our souls and in our bones for all our days. You will be missed. Rest in Peace Adam and may you dine with the Rock Gods for all time." - AndroidDreaming With a very heavy heart, we regretfully share that after a tumultuous struggle with depression and substance abuse, the world lost 27 year old band member Adam Tornblad on May 8, 2017. "I knew Adam since I was two years old. We started to make music together in our early teens in a band that would later be named Moonlit Sailor. An amazingly smart and talented guy, Adam has always been my best friend and we were always very close to each other. He had a beautiful mind and he created the most beautiful melodies with it. Unfortunately, with a beautiful and smart mind often comes a much darker side. Adam is in a much more beautiful place now and I'm longing to see him in the future when I get there. Writing Adam Forever was very difficult but also provided me with some much needed therapy. The feeling and sound in this song is my love for Adam. I wrote it for him. Both songs give you a good idea of what the next U137 album will sound like. This is not the end of U137, but a new beginning," says band member Oscar Gulbrandsen.

Album Preview: I AM SONIC RAIN "Hidden"

Hailing from a small city of romantic canals in northeastern Italy named Treviso, just minutes away from it's glamorous neighbor Venice and the birthplace of Western Europe's artistic revival via the Renaissance, comes a new type of artistic masterpiece: the sprawling, striking work of I AM SONIC RAIN. The band's third full-length album, Hidden, can be described in one word: fearless. Unafraid to push the boundaries, this five piece will leave you either breathless or incredibly anxious with ten songs that are emotionally resonant without words. The band succinctly captures the pathos of a dreamlike state, fluxing between stop and go, quiet and loud, violence and calm, heaven and hell, hope and despair. Hidden's unique shine is that it can take you to both light and dark places, all depending on where you want to go. A cascading waterfall of different sounds often soothing and never monotonous or predictable, I Am Sonic Rain lulls you into a dreamy, candy-coated aura of safety interrupted by jarring outbursts and more ominous progressions in just the right places. I Am Sonic Rain works almost every wavelength of the post-rock spectrum and plays with a kind of gracious self-awareness that accentuates its strengths in execution. It's difficult to deny the effectiveness, enthusiasm and passion with which I Am Sonic Rain employs the tools at its disposal. Bursting with charisma, depth and dynamic complexity, it's cerebral listening...and it cuts deep. (DER-579)
